I quit at level 19 or 20, can't remember now. Just got bored. No real explanation needed, other than it started feeling like the same old thing all the time.
Too many other good games out there to be playing one that is boring.

"I quit at level 19 or 20"
It's taken me 2-3 days to get to 15.4 with a normal SG, at that level you have barely seen the freakshow/crey/circus/knives of Artemis/high 5th, you have no right to criticise a game when you've barely played any of it, capes, badges, higher TFs, hamidon, more costumes....you didn't even get to THAT for crying out loud, how stupid can you get....
Right becasue fighting high level mobs is SOOO much different than fighting low level mobs...NOT
Actually....yes it is.
Playstyles change enormously as you level up, blasters do more damage but cannot afford to melee, scrappers can take on loads more but get slaughtered by holds.....
As do other archetypes, plus I'd much rather move around a freakshow indoor tileset or do an instanced outdoor mission (Not the kill x number of mobs ones) with the higher level SG, and fight crey, knives ect, than fight the Vahz, lost and skulls/hellions.
So make sure you know what you are talking about next time thanks.
Why does that make a person stupid when they don't enjoy a game? Who cares about what is above level 20. I am so sick of MMOGs where all the content is above a certain level. If a game isn't fun at all levels, then it's not worth my time. That's the bottom line.
Whether I would have enjoyed it had I leveled one more time to get capes is arguable, but what I said in the previous paragraph has more weight than anything. Besides, I had a friend log in so I could look at the capes--neat, but what do they add to playability?
Nevertheless, I will probably pick it up again when CoV comes out. A game like Heroes needs PvP, so I'll come back for that.

That doesn't make you an idiot, but voicing a biased opinion of the game in general when you havn't played a main chunk of it is.
I still fail to see how you got bored and quit before you made it to 20, you played it for 5 minutes per day or something?
Voicing an opinion about a game to level 20 is completely valid. That is a big chunk of the game... for everyone. If you manage to get past that and have tons of fun, then all the best to ya. It still remains that everyone has to get through it first. My opinion is my own. Just because you don't agree doesn't mean it's invalid.
I digress... The game was quite fun. I mentioned that already in previous posts. It just got boring. Task Forces became tedious and booooring and everyone said that I had so many more of them to look forward to. The missions were all basically the same and even fighting new villians added nothing of interest to them. And like I said before, I am oh so tired of hearing that a game starts getting fun after level xx.
Each to their own.
Bah I dont know what you mean by boring after lvl 20. I have 3 toons over lvl 24 and all are fun. This and all mmo games are what you make of them.. Not happy fine mazke suggests and be a part of improveing the game or play somthing else.. Thats my take.

I completely agree, which is why I am playing something else LOL. I've already made suggestions on what I thought would improve it. Anyway, keep on having fun! I wish the best!
All I know is if I am thinking about getting a game, I avoid the forums like a plague! People are either playing the game and having fun or posting in the forums about all the things they hate about it. Or... in my case, stuck at work.
um, scrappers dont get slaughtered by holds. Its blasters that do. All 4 scrapper secondaries offer status protection - "holds" is something a scrapper should never have to worry about.
And as far as stradegy "changing" as you level.. uh, no. not really. your tactics might change "slighty" - but no"OH WOW dramatic difference!!!11" between lvl 1 enemy and lvl 50 carnie. the game boils down to damage, this is why its city of scrappers/blasters, and everyone else just does the "cheer" emote.
I enjoy undercutting people in the market place - it's the only PvP a crafter gets.

You see, every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with their surrounding environment, but you humans do not. You spread to an area, and you multiply, and you multiply, until every natural resource is consumed. The only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet.-Mr.Smith
That just proves you don't read your own posts
Well, getting to level 20 is done in a day or two if you do it right. I dont think level 20 is enough to change the game though. Sure, you get to fight some new villian groups, but that's it. I think the game takes a complete turn around lvl 38-40 when you can start doing for exempel Sewer Trial and start running some of the new zones. It is really a big difference betwen fighting a lvl 1 hellion and a lvl 45 Rikti group Trust me.
And you that are whining about that the game is all about damage output (and therefor only scrappers and blasters is playable) either havent played the game or only soloed easy mobs all the way to lvl 50 where they just stopped and looked around. This game is much more than level grinding You can have som really fun grouping up with others, doing some trials (harmidon is probarly the most fun thing in the game) or just killing some lvl 50 DE monsters
If you quit before even lvl 20 then you havent given the game a shot. You have basicly fighting the same mobs with the same skills and the same strategies. But it's after that where the strategy and irl skills start coming into the game I actually think that sub lvl 32 is a big trial world :P
I do agree that this game needs PvP though.
I quit after lvl 21, game gets way to repetitive. Just seemed to change the monsters around a bit but all of the missions where the same. I guess the same could be said for many MMORPGS.
I guess the game could be better after the pvp expansion pack.
Then again, it could just be me b/c I went back to playing AC and people say that is boring.
I quit at level 23 or 24 cant remember.
Game got too repetitive and boring. Not enough story, features, and things to do with any kind of variety.
I preordered and played 3 days ahead of time. I quit before my 1 month was done with.
People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.
My god this site scares me...how long did you lot play? a week?
25 is EASILY obtainable within a week.
Well, level 20 took like a month and a half or so. I guess if all you do is power-level and not enjoy the finer points of the game, then maybe getting 25 in a week is possible, but honestly, what sort of game would that be?
Anyway, most of this game is about making different characters, I think. With so many customization options, a lot of people probably played at least half a dozen characters to level 6 or so. That takes up a lot of time. Then by the time you settle into a single character to get to 20, you've lost interest because it really didn't matter what character you picked. The world always felt the same with each level you gained on each build. Sure, that's talking from a perspective of burn-out--something that can happen with any MMOG, but with this one it happened far too prematurely. I knew that going in, though, so I am not disappointed in the game at all. I may actually come back to it when I need a straight-forward game to rage on.
I'm in agreement with aeric67, the game does get very boring after you've reached a certain point. That point might be sooner or later for some people, but I think it comes eventually. I quit recently due to the boredom factor, the second time I'd quit it in fact - I quit not long after update 1, and the second time not long after update 2.
The biggest problem with the game is that theres nothing much to really look forward to, its just a mindless bash'em'up. After Update 2, I was quite enthused about the whole thing - I started a new character and the first mission I had included a custom mission template. Fog filled rooms, burning walls, occult shrines, all part of a Hellions mission. I thought "This is going to be so cool now.", but I didn't see another custom template until the late teens.
The amount of xp needed per level seemed to have decreased too, so I moved quickly through the levels and I felt like when I was playing I was actually getting somewhere, the next power was actually something to look forward to because I could visibly acheive it soon, if I kept at it. But in the early twenties it was like hitting a brick wall, suddenly the xp needed per level skyrocketed and the fun dribbled away again, because all I could see was the grind.
And that, I think, is the big downfall of City of Heroes. The grind is just too harsh for what you're trying to achieve. If they lowered the grind, the game would actually be much more fun.. and to those who say it would have people leaving sooner - With all the possible costume combinations, I think everyone has at least a few characters in them they want to try out, and that on its own would be enough to keep a lot of players going.
