I got no time to do quests since Orvr takes all my time. On my server Karag - Azgal, a pve server, both order and destruction trying to lock the zones almost every day. Last sunday we had so many ppl fighting outside our city sieging for 1 hour that caused a server crash. Tonight we were so close to do the same but they defended well. I understand if ppl saying that no Orvr happens in lower tiers but this is just LOL. Oh, btw my server most of the time is low/low.
Im curiouse to know about something i see a lot in this forums, Whats the problem in europe with GOA? What do they do to hurt War so bad? not flaming, im just curious
this.
I play on EU servers and I would like to know what's with all the hate towards GOA?
Server stability, content, etc. is the same as the US version.
Patches are always on time (1 day later than US).
The flash site isn't ideal I admit but I'm sure that's not the reason for all the GOA -bashing.
Maybe it's customer support? I don't know I never had any reason to contact them.
I'm playing on Burlok and it is not empty, there might be times that is busier than other times, but for example last saturday in tier 4 there were plenty of warbands fighting over Praag, Black Crag and Dragonwake. You should just figger out where the action is going on. Besides that class balance is ok, I have no big complaints about GOA either (I just don't like the site so much). No, I don't think you can say that Warhammer is a flop in Europe, it might just be a personal flop for you..so who cares..just move on to your next game or go back to ...
Low/low means that no one plays and the server is dead? Strange that I saw regularly over 100 players in rvr battles(sometimes so many that my framerate went down to almost zero). Scenario's still pop enough as well..who cares about statistics low/low as long as there are enough people to play with?

Enlighten me!
Well GOA has not managed the Free server transfers at all well.
There are currently only 1 server per server type (core, oRVR, RP) that has a decent population.
All other players are trapped on empty servers.
GOA is supposed to offer the same level of service as Mythic or better as agreed when they re-newed their contract with mythic to handle WAR.
""Folks,
Let me make one thing clear from the contract:
GOA's level and quality of support must equal or exceed Mythic support
If they don't do that, the deal is off. Now, does that clear things up a bit?
Also, for those that are saying that GOA failed to bring lots of customers to the game, that is total nonsense. At its peak, DAoC subscribers in Europe dwarfed all the competition. Our numbers there (which at the time was a far less robust market than it is today) were better than we expected them to be. If GOA had handled Italy and other territories from the beginning, our numbers would have been even higher.
Again, I'm not saying that GOA was perfect, they weren't, Mythic wasn't perfect either. We both have learned a lot over the last 5 years and we expect to learn even more over the next two. We have contract language that assures that GOA's support and effort will not only be even better than last time but that it will have to be the equal or better than Mythic's support. If that isn't good enough for those that are complaining or worrying, than there is nothing more I or anyone can say that will change your mind. And when that happens, I will stop talking about it because it is pointless.

In the US they completed their free server transfers 2 months ago. In the EU we are just on phase one, since November 24th.
Now we all know that you a decent population to play WAR properly, even Mythic acknowledge this fact
Quoted from their website regarding RvR Performance 27/11/08
"RvR is a core element to Warhammer Online, and we are committed to making it an enjoyable and exciting experience fo all our players. Our ultiamte goal is to have our players focused on fighting thier opponents and experiencing the thrill of RvR the way it should be"
In fact when the Heavy Metal Event started the first daily task was to particiapte in the Reikland scenario. They later changed the rules so that you could complete the tasks on any day, simply because loads of people in the EU didn't know what a scenario looked like since they never ever ever popped!
And yet there are (or were, many may have quit by now) 1000s of players on empty servers. What many of these people are faced with is playing a Single player game or re-rolling on a server with a decent population none of which is a very nice feeling.
Why should i be forced to re-roll simple because GOA cannot manage the server transfers in a timely manner as promised? It is a waste of my time and my money (monthly sub) and it is quite boring re-levelling the same char.
So you can clearly see that GOA is not offering a better or equal service to Mythic in the US, in fact the time delays in organising server transfers has almost killed this game inthe EU, they were 7 weeks late starting the transfers and since the 24/11/08 (14 day ago)have only address on phase of transfers.
Do you honestly expect people to renew their sub when they have been stuck on empty servers for over a month? They are not paying the monthly sub to play a single player game or in fact a multiplayer game, but a Massively multiplayer game, that coupled with the fact that WAR relies on a decent pop to play, makes this game, for many, in the EU not fit for purpose.
PS: This is simple down to GOA and the way they are managing the servers. In the EU, WAR launched with 63 servers(which is a lot for any game), given that they know that you need a decent pop you would have expected that they would have some plans to merge the servers in place even before release. But we are now 90 days after release and GOA are still on the first phase of transfers!
It is also worth noting that WAR is essentially a good game, released well and has been almost driven into the ground by simple server management, it is a real sad and shocking state of affairs!

I see so it's server transfers. Fair enough, I never really looked into server transfers because I'm on a healthy server.
Read his post again, he said he has a 35 Runepriest, that is tier 4. And to the OP, yes i agree. WAR has been a massive flop in Europe, the only med/med servers (english at least) are two of the ORVR ones. All the rest are low/low and losing players like a ship taking on water.
It's a huge failure in North America as well....There are 3 servers that are at Med/Med and 1 that is High/High. The other 55 or so servers are all low/low. Even if people tend to get some big fights going on the med/med servers or the 1 high/high server the entire server crashes. It's a complete disaster. People defending the game saying it's doing well are in utter denial. How can the game be so fantastic and doing so well, when it cannot even fill the servers. Before the game came out MJ even said that merging/transfering servers meant a game was in trouble and if they weren't adding new servers 6 weeks out the game was in big big trouble. Both of those things have happened.
Warhammer is in the bargain bins all over and online you can get it for $20 bucks. That's another bad sign for a failing game thats been out only a couple months. Face the facts, it was released way too early, way too buggy, with no end game content & still looks like it will take a good year to get it to the point of being stable and actually having purpose and fun. It's a niche game that Mythic fanbois will stick with no matter what. But other customers are not so forgiving when a game is released as sloppy and unfinished as Warhammer was. There's way too much out there to play these days, so you don't have to put up with mediocrity anymore. Game companies need to pay attention to AoC and Warhammer and learn that you get that one chance to impress the customers. If you fail you won't ever get them back because you only get one chance anymore.
I agree with most of what the OP says. So one of the most common criticisms of this game is about how "empty" the world feels, whether this is caused by low pop servers or scenario grinding. I felt the same way and would emphasize that I have played many mmos and still sub to two and my lasting impression of WAR in Europe was of an empty world. Moreso than any other game I have played in recent years.
Those that take exception to this say:
1/ One server they play on is med/med between 8-10 pm (and so the OP is wrong in his low/low claim).
2/ Get in a large 100+ guild
3/ Get to Tier 4
Satisfy 1-3 and the game is alchemically transformed into pure gold. Now this may be case, and if this is so then this game still fails as those three prerequisities are an absurd selling point for a modern mmorpg game.
Mmorpgs need to do better than that, and offer more variety of gameplay and gaming styles, to be successful.
Funny I play Burlok and there is always people to group with and scenario have alway pop relatively frequently. Since the latest patch, there has been plenty of oRVR action too. You don't need a large player base for a server to be a good place to play.
However, I agree that there could be more players about, and with the recent server moves, there is the chance that more player will move there. Aftter all, I have a pack of hungry squigs that need feeding
It's a niche game that Mythic fanbois will stick with no matter what.
The mythic fanbois were among the first to leave this game. It failed completely to have any of the qualities that their earlier game DaoC had because it tried to copy too many things from WoW and then put a shallow shell over it that they called RvR but werent.
"You are the hero our legends have foretold will save our tribe, therefore please go kill 10 pigs."
Wait till the massive price reduction on US War fades. These massive price reductiuons weren't there in EU and are the only reason there is a difference. GOA has nothing to do with it.
At the moment it seems US Amazon.com eleminated its War unsold stock by offering the boxes at 20 dollars. The moment these prices are gone (and it appears to be the case as of today) you'll see the exact same patern. War is again on its way out on amazon.com, now the prices are normal again it won't take long.
Players left in the first wave (open Beta), players left in the second wave( first 2 weeks retail) and players leave in the third wave (those who came in with the cheap price reductions).
EA knows it already for 3 months now. Spore sells, War not.
EA will decide how this game will go in 2009. If they don't have 200 K in 6 months, it will be game over for EA (cutting losses of 310 million dollars of last quarter only AND a projection of even worse results in this quarter). And it doesn't look good. Because the number of players is about 25% of the numbers you had in September.
Calculate 25% of 800K ... and this is winter time....

That's what I am afraid of too. EA is a monster company and CAN and WILL pull the plug even faster then NCSoft did with Auto Assault and now with Tabula Rasa.
GOA is a dissaster here in EU.
1. It took them more then a month longer to come up with MUCH needed server transfers and they only did one small phase.
2. It took them more then 3 weeks again to come up with the second, again very small, phase of MUCH needed server tranfers.
The OP was a bit out of touch with number of servers that are dead. But still... over 80% of the servers being clasified as dead is still a shock!
From the English EU servers Burlok and Karak Eight Peaks are pretty much the only 2 servers with a decent population at the moment.
All because GOA is so goddarn slow with their transfers and server consolidations.
More then a month ago GOA could consolidate and get rid of about 40% of the servers.
Now today, they can consolidate and get rid of about 80% of the servers.
How about that for a shocker huh!
------------------------------------
But the major reason why people are mass quiting is Mythic being unable to fix Fortress Sieges in Tier4!
On most servers players aren't even able to lock down zones due to lack of required number of players.
And the servers that are able to lock down zones, crash the servers repeatately with Fortress Sieges!
Tier4 oRvR is one big mess for almost 2 months now.
People had to complain for more then a month before Mythic admitted there are serious performance issues in Tier4.
Now again a month further they still haven't been able to fix it and address the continues crashes.
And the more people end up in Tier4, the more people exprience the lagging and crashing hell hole Tier4 oRvR is. The more end up quiting!
FACT IS! The game engine cannot handle the Biggest Sell point of this game: Largescale open RvR!

Yeah this game sucks here in the United States too. Gets old really fast. No Immersion. Gameplay feels played out and like your working for nothing.
A joke isn't.
Cheers
