I'm really curious about DF but I was hoping to see GW2. I hope that means its not going to be a 2010 game.

    Runes of Magic
    Aion
    Champions Online
    Chronicles of Spellborn
    Darkfall
    Earthrise
    Jumpgate Evolution
    Stargate Worlds

Vote for the Most Anticipated Game for 2009

Runes of Magic will not be the WoW clone they are hoping for. Too many problems with it and any game from Asia that screams "FREE TO PLAY, FREE TO DOWNLOAD" is bound to be another item mall scenario where it does not matter what you do in the game but only what you buy from the website to play.

RoM was based off a chinese game they reworked the game to make it better for western players.  It will be one of best F2P MMORPG's ever. They even stated almost everything in the item mall you will be able to get in the game it will just be hard. Also they said no EXP boosters etc. How do you know theres to many problems with it are you in CB?

Wow...Just realized I'm not really looking forward to 2009 with regard to MMOs, lol. None of those listed really peak my interest into actively watching thier progress with any real care.

That said, I voted for Dark Fall. I guess Earthrise would follow as second. Both are stepping away from level based progression which is my preference (enjoyed the UO and early SWG systems). I'm not a real fan of the FFA PvP  that DF and i believe Earthrise have as playing the role of ganker has become more popular than in the days of UO.

I do hope DF and Earthrise are somewhat successfull, though, as it may give cause to more companies to move away from themepark level-based and I may find an option that interests me in those.

I signed up for the Stargate worlds beta, they sent me a link to set up an account and a beta key to activate the account and none of it works properly, can't download the game or read the forums.

If they can't do that right, what hope is there for the game?

What hope is there when you say you have been accepted to beta publicly?

(this game is not in an active state right now. Perhaps you should view the public forums before rushing to post)

    +1 for Fallen Earth

Runner up for me was ER. I had serious vaporware suspicions when they slated a beta to start soon but just said in their last newsletter they just *started* on character models...

But the new screenshots have characters so hey - they must be doing something right.

I was also surprised not to see Global Agenda on this list.

And... why even have this vote? Wouldn't the game on MMORPG.com with the highest hype-rating slated to come out in 2009 pretty much be the winner?

Earthrise or Aion, but voted for Aion because I know more about it.

"Darkfall, bah. Someone else said it for me. Dark and Light all over again. Sorry after the French on their little island took people for a ride I do not see the folks in Greece doing it any better."

Since when is France an island?

As for vote, Darkfall all the way.

Aion, but I really -really- wanted to vote for champions online. I can't vote for TCoS because I don't like the north america publisher. =(

  • EphimeroEphimero Member Posts: 1,860

Voted for Aion. 90% of retention after OB over there, and I'm playing it and loving it, so I can't wait for it to be released in English.

I'm certainly trying Darkfall within the first month Champions online is one I may try out of boredom somewhere down the line but you can keep the rest of those games all in all tihs has been a pretty lackluster year for mmo development

but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....

None of these games interest me in the least.  Looks like it might be another lean year for mmo's.

Is a man not entitled to the herp of his derp?

Remember, I live in a world where juggalos and yugioh players are real things.

TCoS...playing on the european servers right now until Acclaim gets things sorted out.

It. is. phenomenal. The combat is genius, never boring, and requires not only twitch skill, but strategizing skill. The art style is brilliant, the story is the best I have ever seen...I will be playing this game for quite some time.

It was full real time FPS when i played it, i quit way before the expansion hit so i have no idea what it is now.  Is it still going on?  That game had so much potential.

Definitely Darkfall is the only one that has some possibilities of becoming the next big thing. The rest of the list is the same concept and boredom we have been eating the last years.

No sheep votes please....LOTRO is never "anticipated".

I can vote as I please...and none of the games listed interest me.  Aion used to, but I fear it will be another WoW community which turns me off to no end.  Stargate Worlds mildly interests me.  So, for ME the next LotRO expansion is what I'M anticipating.

Oh yeah, the LOTRO community shines like a beacon over WoW's... putz... LOTRO is a slightly modified WoW clone... grind grind grind... BTW people, I was in closed beta for SGW and... I highly doubt that game will have a decent release. They seem to be shoving it out the door with lipstick around it's lips and a soiled set of trousers. Plus, it's still a bit of a WoW clone. Break the formula people, EvE sort of did it and look at their numbers!

Good grief. The items in the item mall are not exactly what is in game. There is a premium to item malls, things in them are better than what can be gotten in game. It is why there is an item mall. Things may be named the same but they are not exactly the same.

BTW an item mall gives a company the excuse to add anything that will bring in more money. If enough of the people buying up things in the mall want something and there is an indication it would do well do not be surprised to see something that boosts experience.

France is not an island but Reunion Island where Dark and Light was made is a French territory and is an island.
