Not 1 person playing has even spared 10 mins to come here and tell us how good/ bad this game is?
I am not sure this is a good sign... It seems to suggest the same 'meh' that has been with it throughout it dev period... I hope this isnt the case.
Anyone from the EU got any feedback plz?

I've only played for 1 hour so far... so dont have to take my oppinion too much to heart.
Well I actually liked not being shown by a huge flashing green light where to go, immersed me a bit that I had to read the quest log and then check the map, you can hover your mouse over the map in different areas to see the name of the sub-areas in that area.
I think they are trying to be funny with some of the npc dialogues though... failing miserably and actually making me want to play less -.- ... I like the having to aim at the enemy and all that.. but I honestly had, like you mentioned, a meh feeling through my playtime... it just didnt suck me in at all imho, maybe I will try again later today or something..
I do after all want to check out the whole putting stuff in your armor to make it how you want it to be, unless thats higher level... the character creation might not have been as limited as some other mmorpg's but it wasnt very impressive either, I did however enjoy that you got to pick what armor to wear and colors on them.
so yeah, I only played for 1 hour... but at best I had the "meh" feeling through the game and at worst I couldnt take anymore lame npc jokes about cabbage -.-
Nothing about this game ever really sparked an interest with me since it's announcement.
Hopefully it turns out to be good. That would be awesome to give people who were interested another viable option that didn't suck.
I tried it yesterday (from Sweden)..
At first I wasnt impressed at all. The newbie experience is poor and the quests are even less engaging than other MMOs from the start and everything seems confusing. Its pretty hard to find quest objectives and Ive spend alot of time running around searhcing for stuff.
But after awhile this game really starts running! When you learn the combat system its alof of fun and the quests become better. Still alot of kill 10 boars but some are very well designed. I like the graphics and the art style but some characters look really silly. The community seems nice so far and alot of friendly chat in the zone channel.
At level 5 you get the 3rd skill bar and setting up your deck becomes more important and I really liked that aspect of the game. I am almost level 7 now (its the f2p cap) and I have enjoyed my time in the game and thinking of subscribing. (If I only had time to play more...)
Havent tried any PvP yet but with that combat system it could be alot of fun!
If WoW = The Beatles
and WAR = Led Zeppelin
Then LotrO = Pink Floyd
Played CB and OB and the game's way more polished then when I first played it, lots of things have been fixed, almost no bugs at all to be seen at all in the first zones. Healthy number of players online atleast on Dequinerol, PvP international (also known as the beta server, the whole community's still there ). But we could always use new people, fresh faces so I suggest you give the trial a chance. It's worth it .
Im a long time reader, who just registered. As a german I had the chance to play the F2P for 3 days now and did so in abundance. I have just paid for one month of playtime. Now I am waiting for the servers to come back online in about 15 min. I thought Ill use the time to throw some meat to the starving MMoRpgers.
It´s a great game. I wont repeat what others have already mentioned. So here are a few additional details:
A lot of players havent yet figured out how to create an interesting looking character. Most builds are normal looking humans with tons of armor on every body part. To them Id like to say "you dont impress by quantity - less can be more and some attention to the chosen colours will also help to make your char unique".
Another thing that most still dont get is the combat system. It´s not just about strafing (although you will die certainly if you dont do so in the first two levels), The skills you can learn, deal with so called states like Physique, Morale and Concentration. You use special skills to bring the opponents states down and you own up - then you´ll do alot more damage. That is if you have chosen the right skills and build a decent skilldeck.
I have to admit that the first two levels are hard to like, when you try your first character. One of the first quests is to kill 5 bears and 5 wolves. But as you have only 5 skills, 3 of them are general attacks, the other 2 are often chosen badly (as you dont yet understand the game), you are not very well equipped to win those fights. So combat seems to be only consisting of constant strafing. This can get very exhausting. In fact after I killed my first 5 bears - I logged out and took a rest. At that time I wasnt sure, if I would come back again. But I did and it became a lot better. I would describe it as a mixture of Guildwars, AoC and TabulaRasa - but a lot better than any of those.
One more thing: I like the fact that you cant see a name over every monsters head. If you run through a forest at night, animals are almost invisible. I love it that monsters roam the area freely, engage in struggles with each other and are willing to change their target very easily. There arent many safe spots in this game. You might sit and rest in the middle of a road, when suddenly a wolf hunts a squirrel out of the woods, sees you and decides, you are a better prey. Also the good old "trains" of EQ seem to be back. If you see a newb come running with 5 mobs in tow, you cant be sure, if some of them wont decide to attack you instead.
Finally I like the humour (ok Im german - that might not be very convincing). I like quest where I have to do the Kestel run in under 3 mins. I love to be awarded a "Redshirt" armour. What can I say, Im a nerd.
I wanted to write more but the it´s time to log in again. Dont be offended because you cant be the first to play a new MMorpg this time. If it´s a good game, it will still be fun in january.

hehe I am in the UK, we never get that honour :P
Saying that, it is somewhat frustrating that Akklaim didnt do a simultanious release... As is stands (at this time...) TCoS is now more or less looking like it will go head to head with Darkfall for me, which isnt a good thing for TCoS (personally) if DF is 75% of what it promises to be.
Thanks for the views though guys, wish I could play it with you
Naah, dont worry! DF wont be out for another month and a half (Id say OB in a month). Which gives you a whole month to tryout TCoS. Its a good game
Well for one thing, most of continental Europe is blocked from playing,so NA and most of EU,cannot even be considered for beta even though Mindscape/Frogster are up and running live!
to me this is madness they have prob lost 1000's of players who are pissed of with the IP block,or beta testers have left taking potential customers with them.
Now the supposed NA closed beta is 3 days late, and the bloody Acclaim forums are down.
If Spellborn NV don't care about customers,it seems they are going to let Acclaim rip this game to shreds, roll on Darkfall such a shame Spellborn seems to be now spoiled by greed.
Ok some very early impressions from a swedish player on the free trial.
I am only level 4 mind you, but here you go:
Very very boring start, the first two levels are dead boring and I was almost quitting which I think would have been a personal record, they need to do a better job of giving players a good first impression. And the first two levels actually last awhile (well maybe no more than 15 minutes or so, but 15 very boring minutes feels like hours).
Then it picks up, can't say much more just being level 4, but those two more levels and the new quests has really changed the game. Now it is interesting and fun, the combat system is great and the world feels fresh. One thing I did like from the get go was the graphics, or rather the art direction, it is a very nice looking world.
I will post a better and more thought out review when I have actually played the game some more, but these were my first impressions.
I think reviews aren't going to matter until they start coming from people who are playing the game with a sub ( i.e. have gone into the real game and not just the trial ).
Every game looks good in the trial area. It's what the game becomes when you've plopped down your money that counts.
Zorvan, of course you are correct. But first impressions are also important! Especially in this case since they seem to count on this first f2p area as a marekting thing for the game.
In as much as i agree that first impressions are important, I also believe it's the long run that matters most. What's the point of liking the first ten lvls, getting to cap in 2-3 weeks, then waiting on the devs to keep you interested?!
Considering the mmo's of today, a little boring in the beginning can be tolerable if it shows promise down the line. I'm more interested in the long run than the first hour of play. Too many times I found a game that fun in the beginning to be let down the further you go.
As Zorvan said, better to wait for a sub review and see what's further down the road. For me at any rate.
There is not really a trial area. You can go to adjacent zones. The only thing that is limiting a f2p players journeys is the level cap at 7. You wont be able to join a house at lvl 9 and therefor cant fly to other shards (so I heard).

Remember the first 20 levels of AoC? First impressions can hide a lot.
What i ve noticed from the videos was that the effects were '' too much '' remind me some japanese cartoons in tv . Too many effects are to impress 10 y old kids and not mature players. In a manual combat system i want as less effects from special moves as possible (example oblivion) so i can watch every single movement of my enemy . Anwy i always favor the ideas of new and refreshing combat systems so lets hope the devs will do their best to improve the game.
Remember the first 20 levels of AoC? First impressions can hide a lot.
Very good point, but my point is almost the opposite. Spellborn fail to impress with the very first impression it gives, and failing to impress is a very dangerous thing to do for a game that relies on this trial to get subscribers.
Anyway, MMOs are long term games, but there were some posts asking for impressions so I thought I should add mine.
I am up to lvl 6 now, leveling is pretty fast and the combat is still fun and different. One of my worries in the long term is what the end game will be like when I can't upgrade my equipment more than through sigils. I don't particularly like pvp and I think even most pvpers will get fed up with just pvp if there is not a very good incentive to do that. We shall see, but I must say so far they are doing a good job of getting me to want to subscribe. But please fix those first 20 minutes in the game, they are very important if you want a lot of subscribers!
You have a point there. Yesterday two other guys and me (we werent even grouped) took on a large group of human npcs. Some of the enemies were casters. At times the whole screen lit up with fx and I had no idea what was really going on. I casted and slashed and casted until I realized that the guy I was targeting was actually one of the other players and all the mobs were already down.
On the other hand there is some good reason behind this "overdoing" of fx. In a fast combat, where you dont have time to look at the skillbar or read the tooltips on some enchantment being cast on you, it can be very helpfull to get this kind of obvious information. You just need to get better at deciphering it.

hi everybody..
i started the f2p 3 days ago...(i m german) and after a first kind of shock (god ..they look ugly !) i made my
way a bit through that world and i must admit i think its great.
fighting is a lot more interesting than i thought after i found out how to do it....quests are nice, amusing and the world is well designed with a lot of atmosphere.
