Worth Playing Again?

Hey all,
I played the game when it was first released but lost interest after a month. I am contemplating playing it again but want to know your guys opinions on the game, has it improved?
I read on the official website that they have redone avatar combat, is it better? What about the rest of the game, has it improved? Should I come back to the game?

If you own it and can afford to throw 15 bucks away give it a go. Cant hurt. If it still sucks you just gata Unsub the game again.

The new AvCom system is set to go live in the next milestone (1.11) but is already on testbed.
But the core of the game is still Age of Sail ship combat; the end-game is still RvR PvP. If you're not interested in that sort of thing, then no, you shouldn't come back.
If you ARE interested in that sort of thing, there have been a LOT of major changes between the January release and Milestone 1.10 (the current live version). There's a Winback 14-day trial that you may be qualified for if you had a full subscription before; if not, there's the new 14-day free trial. Give it a go, you've got nothing to lose but a few hours of your time
how do we find out if we qualify for a 14 day trial if i subscribed in the past??.....i would like to take it if its still possible.....thanks.....
also is the free transfer of a charcter still going??.......
It's my understanding that once your character is marked as eligible for a transfer, it remains eligible until it gets transferred. If your character(s) were on a server that's been closed, like Invincible (which was replaced by Defiant) you could transfer for certain. If it was on a server that's still open like Rackham, I THINK you can still use your transfer(s).
As to finding out if you're eligible for winback, I found the following info posted by Daeke in
this thread:
"The winback program is for those that have canceled prior to 7/31/08, and as well as have selected the option to receive marketing and promotional messages from SOE. The purpose of the program was to bring back former players. It's not a continual program, it's just for those who've left the game since our biggest updates, and we want to encourage them to come back and give the changes a try."
If you played around the time PotBS was released and cancelled back then, you should be eligible. If you didn't have any email (due to not having that option checked off on your sony station account thing) submit a support ticket and you should be able to get sorted out. Also, you might try just logging into your old account; Daeke suggested in one post that it should work automatically for those who cancelled before the eligibility cutoff but I may have misunderstood.
