* an expression meaning the same as the first four in an old language that is rarely used today.
We are (very) proud to announce the return of official events to the Ryzom servers. The Fourth Events Team has been working for several weeks and is ready to lead Atys into the future, to restore life to the Saga. Events will return; either stand-alone or in long sequences, and along with you they will be writing and telling the history of all hominkind. In the near future, the Events Team also wants to give more weight to the Civilisations and give the homins that are most involved with this some more responsibilities and concrete roles ingame.
Some of your posts in the recent months have indicated that you are all eagerly anticipating the return of events and we hope to live up to your expectations. More than just events aimed at homins in general, we will try to create events that cater specifically to all groups of homins on Atys; whether Fyros, Matis, Trykers or Zora

In several threads here I've given plenty of reasons why a server wipe probably isn't a good idea but it seems all you care about is your own private little universe. Imagine the people that started playing after the servers were restarted; they've worked hard gained some levels and then just as billing starts they're told that all of that has been for naught...You think they'll thank you for that? I think not.
Fact is every MMO out there will face the same "problem" at one point. At some point the server population will have veterans in established guilds. As a new player you can either be intimidated by them or see then as an inspiration, demanding a server wipe just so that everyone can have a "level playing field" is not going to do anything to make the vets happy.
Besides how would you feel if some newbie suggested that you would have to start at level 1 again just to make him happy?

I am directly replying to the title of this thread so am not hijacking anything. I didn't call for a server wipe. Combine two server populations which are extremely low so one server is available for fresh launch.
I've kind of wondered why the three existing servers haven't been merged actually, as the French, Germans and the rest of the world can happily coexist in other games in a same server as well. But unless that happens, which two servers there are to be merged?
And in all honesty, I can't see how a new server would give you any kind of fresh start as is repeatedly told you several times over. In Cho, the fresh start was just used by the vets and the server ended in pretty short time as a mini Arispotle, even if with different power of balance between factions.

Sorry, my english isn't that great but i was under the impression that the OP was making an announcement but then again i could be wrong...
but I really think any of the French and German players now playing on their localized servers aren't playing there because they're having (some) problem(s) with the english language orand wouldn't mind a merger with the in ternational (english) server. I suggest we call the new server Babel...
Also as mentioned in a previous post how would that be a fresh start?

WOW spoiled some folks, who went from one new server to another looking for a fresh start.
In most other games if you didn't get in at the beginning, you learn to adept on the veteran servers.....
As you observerd, fresh start servers get overrun with vets from the other servers and it quickly ends up being the status quo all over.

Apparently mmo's have become nothing more than a race to endgame?
What happend with having fun as you level?
Personally i would prefer for others to be ahead of me in an mmo...trailblazing is kind of lame, less people to play with and the sooner you reach the point of boredome waiting for the rest of the server to hit endgame.
I guess mebey you feel cooler being top 10 or top 50 characters in game?
Really though, i just dont understand this obession with the whole "everyone else is ahead of me" i mean theres always going to be new players for you to level with, unles the game is near death of course.
So suck it up and be a man (or woman) and just play on the same servers with some veterans and enjoy it, its a game not a race.
Redwoodsap, I'm glad that you'll be there when Ryzom becomes successful enough to open more servers.
Most of us are really thankful that they have been able to keep the 3 servers going and not have to merge them.
Just a thought though, Events are suppose to be a major part of the Ryzom experience and once an event is over, its over and is not repeated. Take the Halloween event, if you did not experience that you never will.
And from what I've heard and seen, it looks like the new team is going to put the emphasis back on events and The Saga ( an evolving timeline ).
So it really is the time to get in Ryzom.
Unfortunately I think time has run out if there are no plans to offer a fresh server start very soon. Darkfall will be releasing in a month and I am pretty certain it will consume all my gaming time for years to come. If only the new owners of Ryzom had realized the importance of offering a fresh server start with an advertisement blitz earlier, they might have grown the playerbase. As it stands now Ryzom will slowly fade away.

You expect me to sit around idle, MMOGless forever waiting for the day that MAYBE Ryzom will offer a fresh server start?
I have a bad experience of new games launches. They are usually decieving. I have no problem finding my place in an already established community, and climbing the ladder to the top. You are being obviously stubborn and closed. In the mean time, you're not getting any playtime, nor gaining any levels, are you ? You're just wasting your time, and ours, by making irrealistic demands and waiting for them to be fulfilled.
If you want a real fresh server start, you need to start a game from launch, there is NO other way. And then, you'll go whine after the ones who played BETA and know the game better than you and fly past you.
Highjacking a thread about the return of Live Events to demand a fresh server start on a non-official forum is NOT going to get you one. The dead mektoub has been beaten to a pulp already. Go find another one.

Anyone is entitled to search for personal preferences, anyway we don't lose anything.
I don't know if he played or tried the game but if he liked it, because he would play into a fresh server, then he is missing a potential fun time, not us.

Yeah you jsut gotta love the "Im gonna be playing <insert unreleased MMO here> for many years quotes......The fanbois of these games just make me vomit.....They know little or nothing about the games but they know they are the best games ever and they will be playing for years....Then they get into beta and quit after a week........

The first of the events have begun. Yesterday and today on Leanon, the German server, and beginning on the 12th on Aniro, the French server. We expect an announcement soon regarding Arispotle, the English/International server.

Looking forward to see what happens with the event also. To be totally honest here, it has been some time since SW reopened the game but, I'm not all that certain it has been enough to pull off a decent event. I'm just hoping we do not get our expectations up too high for a letdown. Just getting any event back is a step in the right direction whether it turns out good or bad. Either way SW devs will learn new stuff and improve the experience next time.
Just getting back to the lore will be an improvement for me.

Events are always a nice distraction from the usual grind in ANY game. Either you appreciate the effort or you don't participate and you try to spoil other people's fun either. The Lore is an important part of Atys. Without it and without the events, the Living Planet seems a bit... undead.
