Can you sit on chairs?

synergisynergi Member UncommonPosts: 133

I've searched all over for this answer and haven't found any posts. I saw the housing video and the dev saying it was important to be able to interact with the things in your house but no mention was giving of all the great chairs/sofa I saw in the house.

Can you sit on them? This is a big pet peeve of mine. I still wonder what the EQ2 dev's were smoking not to develop this when they were making that game. Great player housing and a bunch of useless props..

So again, can you sit on chairs?

    No.

Thanks for the answer. That single handedly made player housing utterly useless to me lol and helped killed my interest in this game since player housing is the one of the biggest draws for me.

    Oh well maybe Tor!

Lol I'm not a fan of this game or anything, and I just randomly ran into this thread. Please tell me you are kidding and being totally and utterly sarcastic upon saying that being unable to sit in a chair is game-breaking for you. Please, please tell me you're joking...

Love the sinner, hate the sin.

LOL nope I am a she not a he and yes a chair is game breaking. I should say not all games but when the game has housing which is an important feature for me because I RP, I like intereacting with my furnishings. I don't like props, that is what EQ2 has, a house full of props and that is a big part of why I quit playing it.

I should also point out the housing system is the only thing making me even look at this game because it is f2p and I usually avoid f2p games like the plague. :)

Vinterkrig It's not stupid to me. But I think you need to be a RPer to understand its another form of immersion for us.

Second life = Glorified chat room

I totally understand where she's coming from as I'd have loved to be able to sit in my chairs in EQ2 (had the biggest house, maxed all slots in it before I quit ) and that was also one thing that annoyed the hell out of me lol, but it wasn't worth quitting over imo, but each to their own

I agree completely with the OP, that anything you cant functionaly interact with is just a "prop" and is a immersion killer for me.

You should be able to sit in chairs, you should be able to look in mirrors and see yourself, you should be able to lay in a bed....etc. At some point of disassociation 'Housing' becomes a gimick.

Does it have good combat? Who cares can I sit in the Chairs?!!!!

Does it have a deep involving sotryline? Who cares can i sit in the Chairs?!!!!

Does it have a fun, unique, usefull crafting system? Who cares I just want to know about the Chairs!!!!

Is the game fun, enertaining, worthwhile? Who cares the only thing that matters is if i can sit in the Chairs!!!!!!!

Yes folks MMO players today have reached a all time new low. Cheer up though, I'm sure there will be aleast one developer willing to release a pointless, buggy,  POS game where you can finally make your a$$ happy and sit in a chair.

What do we want? To sit in Chairs!

When do we want it? To sit in Chairs!!!

Hehe guess its true People have gotten lazier and that the only thing import nowadays is being able to sit ones fat a$$ down as its to tireing to watch your toon stand.

lol winter I see your point lol. Try to think of it this way, for those that actually RP it is a broken feature. Imagine RP'ing a scene where you're sitting in a chair with your fav beverage, taunting your enemy and then finding out "oops sorry, we forgot to make it so you can sit in the chairs, you'll have to stand on it instead ". Its even worse when you walk through a town and see NPC's sat in them, but can't sit in your own in your own home lol.

I played a monk in EQ2, and I used to climb on my bed and feign death just to lay down lol, was a nice trick, but as I said, its not game breaking for me, but I can certainly see where the RP'ers are coming from like being given a Wii for Christmas and then to be told you can't play with it lol

I quit most mmo's because I couldn't wash myself. No baths, no showers...Hell, I couldn't even relieve myself, no wonder most high lvl characters are constipated.

Ahh the difference between roleplayers and gamers eh?

    I agree with the OP.

Look at it from the point of view of mounts.  There is no point in having a horse if you cant ride it.  Same goes for player housing.  What is the point of having it if it serves no other purpose than to look pretty.

If you want storage use an in game store/bank.  If you want to rest sit on the ground.  If you cant do anything different in a house what's the point of having it at all?  You can do everything else without one after all.

Oh, and only a total mouth breather would come out with a sarcastic comment about gameplay over innovation.

Unless this game has broken a mould it is still going to be a grinding chatroom like every other game out there.

Every game I have tried so far (which is a lot,) is just another boring clone of the previous wrapped up in different graphics.

If a game has something different such as interacting with the objects that surround you as in Oblivion then YAY.

Personally I want a 3D WORLD that my character lives in and interacts with, not a pvp arena with text messaging  that requires a lifetime of grinding just to get started.  There are hundreds of those after all.

Bring on sitting in chairs, using bottles, eating, sleeping, going for a pee, getting p**sed in a tavern and having a bar fight, booby trapping my house against burglars, robbing houses, nicking the crown jewels, mugging npc's on dark and foggy nights, nicking a guilds treasure map, hell..robbing a guild :) raiding villges, not going out at night because some MOBs are nocturnal, MOBs with a life that actually do more than stand there waiting to die, MOBS that you can form friendships with and trade with, MOBS that run away instead of fighting to the death, etc etc

What he doesn't seem to get is that while he's enjoying his great combat and storylines, its me and others like me buying furniture that is giving them the ability to play the game for free.

If I have to spend  five bucks for a chair I damn well better be able to sit on it. :)

Otherwise Its pointless and I won't buy it. For the one that said play second life. If the dev's didn't want me to buy all this stuff for my house it wouldn't be in game in the first place. If I go play second life they aren't making as much money are they?

So again, can you sit on chairs?

Now wait a second. You can sit on your chairs. There just no customizeable option to sit on chair.

But if you go on top of your chair and "/em sit", you can get your self to sit, and the graphics actually have your character sitting like on a chair, not on the floor.

So in a way, you can sit on your chair. I have tried it and done it.

But heck, to me it's just a cool place to call your own so I will continue to upgrade my home. There are no benefits to sitting on a chair or sleeping in your bed so I don't know why I would be doing that often in-game unless I want to joke around with friends and get some sort of pose for a screenie.
