My graphics card...

i'm planning on playing either WoW or Eq 2 when they come out, but i hear all of this talk of getting a new computer or upgrading computers for these games. I was just wondering with my computer, will i be able to run both games

Intel pentium 4 processor with HT tech.

3.00 Ghz

512 Mb memory

200 gb hard drive

and a NVIDIA Geforce FX 5200 AGP BX 8x graphics card with 128MB DDR video memory.

will my system be able to run both games?

THanks

You should be fine in WoW, but will struggle some in EQ2: mainly because of the memory.

Nonetheless, you should be able to run at lower graphics settings. If you want to improve how it runs, 1st add RAM (another 512 should be fine). If you still want better performance, get a new Graphic card.

It'll run both games. However, you might consider getting another 512 memory into your computer. If your using DDR RAM it shouldn't cost too much and then you'll be able to run pretty much every game on the market fairly well.

I play WoW CB and I feel 512mb isn't enough occasionnally. When I get into huge crowded areas, I get lots of harddrive read.

512 is the minimum these days. You'll start seeing soon that the recommended will be 1 gig and the required will be 512. No one really wants to put that yet because the average computer is just now getting 512 MB of RAM. If your a serious gamer you'll want 1 gig of RAM. No more and no less.

the video card blows (no offense)

It'll get you through games but your experience with them wont be the same.

I have that exact same setup only with 1 Gig of RAM. The card doesnt blow, but it is the weakest thing in your system other than the memory. I've got everything on high for the character creation screen, and the models look good. Bugger crashes on me once in awhile though.

No more? For a gamer, theres no such thing as too much memory. ::::02::

There is no game that uses 1+ gig of RAM. Even Doom 3 only needs about 600 MB of RAM to run smoothly.

However, I know what you mean. As a gamer myself I'd just LOVE 10 gigs of RAM just so I know I can run anything. :P

I have played WoW stress but not EQ2 at all so I know you will be fine in WoW but it wouldnt hurt to get a little more ram. My system is same as yours but i only have a 40 gb hd. I encountered no problems with WoW. I was hoping to get a chance to try EQ2 but no shotimage

In early beta it seems anything less then 800RAM would play horribly.

My older system with 768RAM struggled a lot  b4 but runs fine now .

However since the last memory fix 768RAM seems to be enough but from what others with 512RAM tell me is that its better now but their HDD still swaps files a lot

In early beta games are not stable yet so it will always require more resources or not run as well. Later on everything is customized and running right so it is all good. But no final game requires 1+ gig of RAM. :P
