Rappelz Pros and Cons!

Pros:

- Excellent Graphics. Characters, pets, and creatures, as well as in-game environments are done extremely well for a free game.

- Pet System. Pets fight with you, level with you, have their own skillsets and look pretty darn cool to boot.

- Job/Leveling System. Here's an idea. There's no such thing as status points, only job points that you can put into increasing your jlvl or increasing particular skill levels. There are also skills like "Increase Magic Defense," so you can have a hand in that aspect of your character's growth without having to deal with a whole bunch of math.

- Party Play. Dungeons, dungeon sieges, guilds, all such things that you would expect from an MMORPG with some cool twists.

- Other Interesting Features. Soulstones can be socketed into equipment. Equipment can be leveled as well as combined with a cube to increase stats.

- The "Cool" Factor. Each race, class, and skill has an element of this (freakingawesomeness, that is), reflecting the sense of design throughout the game.

Future Updates. Rappelz is constantly growing; updates come with each "Epic" (Epic V comes out August 17th).

Cons:

- Poor Grammar. Yes, I know it's originally a Korean game, but that doesn't mean you can misspell simple words and forget what the parts of speech are.

High-ish System Reqs. It gets laggy in towns, and even laggier if you're running a not-so-new computer or if you're running it at high settings.

-Bad Coding. In other words, it's laggier than it should be. Poor coding adds a lot of extra lag both server-side and client-side. So even if you're running the UltraMaxHolyGrailOfGaming1000000, you'll still experience some lag.

- No. Storyline. Whatsoever. Quests include... killing monsters, collecting items, uhhh. That's about it. The end. Have fun.

- Not-so-balanced Classes/skills. However, it is a free game, come on. This is something that should get better with each Epic update.

- Lack of Info. There's no real compendium for this game as of yet. Wiki attempts are rather pathetic and the official game site is rather sparse.

 Summary:

All in all, it's a great-looking game with some cool features, but it requires a bit of patience. In other words, it's a pretty cool, storyline-less Korean game that happens to be pretty badly translated into English.

If you're like me and you like pretty things, then sure. Go for it. If you care about perfectly balanced gameplay or you hate grinding, then stay awayyyy.

Feel free to add your own pros/cons. I'm sure there's more to say on the subject.

another con in my opinion is the download size.

Hmmm I see, thanks for the review, it was helpful hehe.  But I don't think I will be playing it =0, it might lag on me too much and I don't like that very well xD.  Also I like storylinez =(

The problem with the poor coding really shows its colors in the dungeons, even systems that blow away the reccomended requirements will lag.  The guild sieges of the dungeons is really bad and ruins what is really the only non grind thing to do.

The game is fun, but if your trying to get a high end character, prepare to play for years or cancel your real life.  Even when leveling soely on their over priced cash shop stamina items, 99% of players will never make it close to end game without quitting.

The biggest flaw of this game isnt the poor coding, its the relentless grind.

You will grind for weeks attempting to get a goo pet, only to have the pet card fail (even when using the servers best tamers taming for you)

I recall grining at level 80 i would get something like 25-30% a level using stamina savers, in a full dungeon party that pulled as fast as possible.  Finding dungeon parties that work well like this are pretty hard to come by too.

The reason i quit was that i would spend most of my time playing searching for a party, most parties never last more than 1hr )once everyones stamina savers run out people tend to leave)

The worst experiences ive had involved slowly building a party, only to have it wipe, then have people leave, wasting a lot of time, losing exp, and having to go bacl to spaming shout looking for a party.

Its a really fun game untill you hit level 60ish, when finding parties becomes more of an issue and solo grinding takes way too long to accomplish anything.

If you really love farming this game is for you, if you like to quest this game is not.

My advice would be to stay away from the cash shop as much as you can, you can easily spend 100 a week in the cash shop, and many do just to be better than average players.  A VERY expensive game to stay competative, unless you buy RMT gold, so you can buy cash shop game in game (lame)

The biggest downside is loss of exp on death.  when are the Koreans gonna realize that this is highly unpopular with the players.  At higher levels it really hurts.  Come on guys come up with a better death/defeat system (like Lord of the Rings).  Also, Gpotato has a track record of bad customer support.  We had a glitch in LOTRO the other day and a gm showed up in 8 minutes after the ticket was filed to solve the problem.  Good luck with Gpotato on this one.

Also, when are the Koreans going to realize that we hate grinding....cmon guys...yes good quests take more effort to develop but why would I play a game just to grind, grind, grind.

Well I was in this game since mid Epic 3 (that be like 2 years), reached all that i could and those are my Pros and Cons :)

    Pros:

    1. Community - you can find everything you want within people whom you play with. From complete Aholes to Loveable Cuddly people.
    2. Party Depandance - to lvl you need to meet people, make parties... that kinda stops you from being solo grinding cave troll whos only reactions is: DON'T KS!! ;)

    Cons:

    1. PvP Feature - Non Existant - well ok you can PK and PvP people but generally 1v1 larger groups pvp or pvp with audience = massive lag
    2. Game Support / Player Needs Forfilling - non existant... even if whole community will say your idea is seriously genious... they will flush you and stop responding to your emails, what so ever.
    3. Pet System - was changed each Epic... from fair (E3), through filling with hope (E4) to hoplessly screwed (E5). Pets are basicly the same at the moment in E5, they differ only with looks and some basic features like: Magical / Not Magical lol rest is just same line skilling. Nothing really amusing about them. Also the number of them - total of 15 atm - is rather sad, especially they are all alike just have different stats depanding on Rarity.
    4. Completely NO Storyline - also Quests end on lvl 85 or 89 - assuming you have Max lvl 170... this is sad. Game actually turns to be pure Grinding around lvl 30. When you notice going to grind in dungeon gives you more exp and money then doing seriously idiotic - aslo GRIND based - quests.
    5. Seriousl Lag / Crash issues on all servers
    6. Botting - which was stopped but bloomed again - dragging to serious inflation of gold.
    7. High LvLs are the poorest people in game - the ritchness times are mid 60ies 70ies. You have a Crapload of rupees (that is gold), while when you reach high lvls - around 110+ - you have to eat grass and always have debts. BASICLY: Game doesnt support being High LvL by any feature.

    From what i basicly noticed:

At the moment Rappelz is a money buffer for Distributor to get precious $ for new title. Game dies, high lvls quit, low lvls buy gold.

So listen to someone who been there - and don't go there.

I played this game for a week or so and got tired. Why? Exactly because all of the cons. The quests are boring, the plot is non-existant and pvp is dead. If you want to be somebody in this game, you have to play a lot, just to get some rare pets, it could take weeks or months. I'm not saying it's a bad game, the graphics are good and for a week it was quite entertaining.

Pros: None of you play anymore.

Cons: My microwave isn't fast enough.
