Lets not go overboard yet. The testers have only been playing in the beginning areas and from the forum posts some of the content is currently turned off. There are a lot of features in this game, and the beta testers have only touched on a small portion of them. It remains to be seen how well the rest of the game works when those features get enabled.
As to this game being available in a month. I suppose if you want to pay to play a beta it might be, I know for a fact they can't have it ready for production by the end of this year.
Adventurine needs to set some realistic goals, like release in the first quarter 2009. Releasing earlier is just asking for a lot of negative press. They need to test and debug this game first.
Why would anyone who is hyping a game post a fake group of impressions that have a fair amount of articles about what is wrong with the game? If he was really faking it why not just put how great everything is and make it sound like the perfect game. The one argument I see everyone throwing around is "This is another Dark and Light, hes out to get peoples moneys!!!" then why would he not offer pre-orders? How can him releasing a game be bad for anyone? People need to look at things logically and see that theres no reason for him to lie.
I agree totally. No preorders and all can try the game out for free before paying a single cent.
There is no need for Tasos to make up quotes since he have nothing to gain from it.
These quotes have also set a standard for the coming beta testers and just imagine the rage if game cant keep up with the quotes we read so far.
Im very happy the game seem to deliver, and deliver good.
Are there going to be hacks like in most other FPS'. I'm saying FPS because this is more like an FPS where their will be wall hacks and auto aim hacks and such rather than bots.
Aventurine has stated that they are well aware of these kinds of hacks and that they will be attempted. So they have really focused on taking measures to prevent it and it shouldn't be a problem based on how the "fps combat" is actually designed.
Now that being said...
I think every game dev of mutiplayer games has said something like this at some point so there is really no way to tell how "hack proof" DF will be till release.
Hopefully they have it under control because this would probably cripple the game if not handled properly.
Now as far as I followed Darkfall, I always had the impression it was aimed to revive some of the first-era MMO virtues, hardcore gameplay, tough PVP asf. Might be mistaken about it, but thats my impression. Now tbh, I have the greatest doubts such an undertaking can succeed. I mean ok, it sure has its audience, but somehow I dont think it will be too many. I dunno how much money they need to keep such a game running, so maybe it doesnt matter. But my bet is, for the vast, vast majority of people Darkfall is not the game to play. We are just used to much more luxurious, if you want carebearish MMOs these days. I just dont see that this will really function.

That might be true. Really, this genre need to be renewed, not moved back 10 years to the launch of EQ.
But maybe DF can do that, or maybe Guildwars 2 or The old republic? Time will tell, but it is new thinking that will change the genre, not reusing old stuff.
I can't trust this first impression. 1. its on the darkfall server. 2. they have a reputation of having people swarm forums talking about the game. This could be a fake, its a Darkfall dev , it even says he's a dev. How can you trust a first impression from someone who made the game? How do we know these are quotes from real testers? Before I trust a review about this game it would have to be done by a reputable game magazine or myself. Now if IGN or Xplay did a first impression on the game then I'd trust it. Until then I'll have to wait before I even get a little excited.
*Shrugs* I've been let down by so many game developers i've come to not trust anything i've been told, except if its my experience playing the game or someone I actually know. If they pull this off thats great but im expecting it to be worse than shadowbane. Keep your expectations low so not to be disapointed.

Ok I know people are saying this game is vapourware but do you honestly think they would string the fans along by making up a thread with different quotes?
the link is gone just like the game but you can still get the general idea. Dark and Light wasn't vaporware either it did sort of kind of launch. It had a great big pretty world but other than that it just sucked in most respects. Even Mourning sorta launched, if you count mailing out CD's with no labels and having a server up for a few days as a launch.

Not really sure how DF actually will be.
Nobody had anything bad to say about the beta?
Frankly this insults the intelligence of the target audience and hurts your reputation as a company.
Maybe you can tell your marketing department that we are not idiots. Thank you.
