Im tracking this game for quite some time, and I find it very interesting. However in the gameplay videos it seems that the players use alot bunny hopping (I hate it!!). What can you tell me about it?
Bunny hopping, or bunny jumping, is a term used in computer and video games to describe the basic movement technique in which player is jumping repeatedly instead of running in order to move faster or/and to avoid enemy fire. Depending on the game, the technique is sometimes frowned upon by other players as unsportsmanlike, silly, or cheating.
Just kidding.... but there will be bunny hopping. How much kinda depends who plays.
I doubt the game will feature the bunny hopping speed boost bug that older FPS engines fell victim too.
If they use WoW style jumping (i.e. impossible to change your direction once committed to a jump - no magic rocket boots) then the dodging in Bunny Hopping will suck too.
May players still do it? Yeah. Spacebar is Spacebar.

It's pretty entertaining to see how torn the two worlds are from bunny hopping. what I mean by that is the mmorpg world really looks down on bunny hopping because of the negative experiences it causes while in the FPS world bunny hopping in a fast FPS is just the norm and is often a sign of a "newbie" if your unable to.
Since Huxley is built off of the Unreal 3 engine you'll be seeing a lot of bunny hopping since I assume a lot of the more hardcore FPS fans that come from Quake, Unreal, and even TF2 will be making their way to the Mmorpg genre.
Of course, that all depends on what platform you play on. I assume console players will be unable to bunny hop since they are playing with such limited controls but in past Unreal games bunny hopping is basically the norm (especially since they provided you with a double jump and air control)
This image is a prime example. It all depends what platform your playing on. If your on the real gaming platform you'll learn to bunny hop or miss every time. (Though bunny hopping won't help you against me. ) This guy is a retard FYI.
as much as i want this game to come out it never will. ive been following for years watching delay after delay hit it. its gonna be vaporware just like duke nukem forever lol

It's going to hit vaporware even though people are already playing the beta in Korea?...
I'm confused. How can it be vaporware if people are already playing it? Did I miss something? If you can steal a korean SSN you can play it too.
It will probably have people bunny hopping. It will also have Double Jumping if you get the implant that allows you to do it.
I personally hate DJ's.
Then... don't get the implant.
Oh man, I solved your problem. Wow, that was easy.
In every country and in every age, the priest has been hostile to liberty. He is always in alliance with the despot, abetting his abuses in return for protection to his own.
err except I would have to deal with all the other players who double jump.........
But yeah, I would probably will avoid it unless I'm carrying a rocket launcher.
Rocket Launcher + DJ = Teh Win.
Here's an idea for dealing with them.
Shoot them. And if that doesn't work, shoot them again. Rinse, repeat.
Because of the nature of servers and the number of players they are aiming for, it's highly likely they're going to use a Planetside system, which means weapons are going to be mostly hitscan (except for things like Rocket Launchers, which you noted). You can definitely easily kill bunny hoppers in a hitscan environment, especially one like Planetside (which eliminates all the cheaty aspects of the practice).
In every country and in every age, the priest has been hostile to liberty. He is always in alliance with the despot, abetting his abuses in return for protection to his own.
Bunny hoping is strictly noob tactics, the top players in FPS games do not do it,especially not the UT players. That is why a well designed game will have weaponry that makes bunny hopping obsolete, and a non factor, evasion is suppose to be done using COVER or DODGING.
Huxley was talked about so long ago,i have all but given up o nthis game.By the time they bring this sucker to NA,there will be a million aimbot ini's and a million cheats.I see this game being like counterstrike, very popular to all the kiddies who can get there hands on the cheats and sit there giggling behind there PC.I have never seen anti cheat work in my entire life and that NGUARD that asian developers like to use because it is free,is another joke that works 0% of the time.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
I dislike bunny hopping in FPSes, i tend to prefer FPSes to be as realistic as possible so it always boggles my mind to see people in squad-based situations hopping around instead of taking cover and using the environment lol.
Ofc a good player can always overcome people who use this technique but for me is one of those things that kills the immersion and experience (omg i said immersion in a FPS !!!!!!).
I love the BF series cuz it allows me to use realistic weapons/vehicles etc. ID love to get a chance to play a game like that with a persitant world.
I've never been a fan of bunny hopping, but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen, or I haven't done it.
Still, I sort of grew accustomed to CoD type FPS gameplay, and this is definitely not it. CoD basically rectified bunny hopping tactics by essentially giving you a very heavy temporary speed deduction. I like the way it works!
As a matter of fact... CoD really spoiled me (and obviously a lot of other folks too) on how good FPS's can be realistically fun. However, that being said, I thought it was a lot better when you had bolt action rifles and such, instead of the Modern Warfare weaponry. I'm not saying it sucked, I'm just saying that the weapons during the WWII era were much more interesting to use. One shot could make a huge difference with a bolt action rifle, because if you missed, you'd give away your position, and that could be potentially dangerous.
jumping(bunny hopping?) for no reason is stupid as you will get shot easier as your enemy will know where you will land, but STRAFE JUMPING is absolutely essential if the game supports it. i never found jumping all that useful in unreal games. quake on the other hand....
I don't see why if a game has the option to jump, people will continuously whine about others exercising their right to that option.
Who the fk are you to tell me what controlls I can use or when? I'll tell you who, probably some camping prick(which is fine, hide if u must) waiting for an E to walk by and stand still long enough for you to shoot him in the back. AKA, ur f'n nobody.
Every player in the game has the same abilities and if others use those abilities and pwn you with, too f'in bad. Learn and adapt or uninstall, either way stfu whiners.

I agree with this guy. If a game implements a feature(especially an MMORPG, which is usually consistently updated) it should be able to be used by the players. Dancing in FPS games has been around since the dawn of time and was never really considered a noob tactic then, standing still while someone is shooting you is fucking retarded and if you have the ability to dodge vertically and horizontally then you're stupid if you don't, not honorable.

ooooooo big man with nasty words lol. no one here is whinning but if you play huxley when i am ill GIVE you a reason to whine lol.
As for bunny hopping I could care less if they use it cuz ill still own their asses
Strafe Jumping is a perverted version of bunny hopping. Its not essential and is not needed. I wish they finally come up with a shooter where you couldn't jump like an idiot on boots attached to the springs...

AVA is based on the Unreal 3 engine and there isn't a lot of bunny hopping. I see the odd person attempting it but they generally end up smoked. Most people might jump once coming into a room to try and throw people off, but I've never seen anyone bouncing around bunny hopping.
I played a lot of different FPS including unreal tournament. Bunny hopping, while annoying, was a just another aspect of the game to throw people off. In tactical shooters (like counterstrike) bunny hopping is useless. But in run and gun shooters like unreal tournament, bunny hopping can save your life.
I remember playing ut2k on torlan and taking out 3-4 people by myself, just by jumping, dodging and timing my shots, then capturing a node. Thats what the game was built for so why not use all your tools at your disposal?
On a side note: I have not played Huxley yet but I plan too. I do not know if bunny hopping is effective in this game or not.

This is the truth!!!
It depends on the game...
In some games, like Halo that will get you killed. It was better to move back and forth. It really just depends on how fast your jump speed is(how fast you fall after you jump) and how much control you have when you do jump.
yeah, bunny hopping is pretty much based on the game. I try not to bunny hop at all though because it's really for d-bags. This being an mmo fps i doubt bunny hopping will be much of an issue though it would just be totally stupid to have a fps mmo with bunny hopping as a tactic. I kind of do hope there will be bunny hoppers though, it's fun to taunt the d-bags who hop around like morons after killing them
In the old counter-strike days, before source I would say, bunny hopping was a huge tatic and was a make or break on if you would win or lose matches. I remeber taking my clan to a tourney in Indiana and we showed up late. We instantly got put in the loser's bracket but we had one huge advantage, we were masters at bunny hooping. We ran through every team we faced and took the tourney rather quickly. But the thing is, in a game like counterstrike, it had a huge advantage. Getting to the bombsite or to bottleneck points first was a huge advantage and ment you could setup before they even turned the corner. They would just run into gunfire and die so fast it was hilarious. I even remember at times some of them jumping out of their seat because they were shocked at what just happened. It's all about the game and how it plays. Good times though, good times!
They should have a jumping stamina bar. A few jumps in a row is fine ...300 jumps in a row is retarded. I was in the Korean beta for Huxley version 1 and it was War of the Bunnies.

Well. This game has come out and it plays pretty well imo. (CB)
Bunny hoping is easy to counter if you have an explosive weapon in this game. Just shoot some rockets/grenades below them and they'll be dead before they hit the ground.
Very fun, intense matches online. The game has a Guild Wars esque feel to it.

considering huxley is useing the unreal 3 engine
you will only properly be able to bunny hop unless there is air accel in game
which i very much doubt.
by properly i mean bunny hopping in a way which actually helps you
