Is Waiting For Open Beta That Bad?

Like many other folks I played the stress test beta and am now jonesing for WoW.  I have played Dark Age Of Camelot almost since release and since playing WoW I just can't seem to get into DAoC (once you've been to the mountain top ...).

Anyway, last week I was in Best Buy with my wife trying to find a game, any game, I felt like playing to keep me busy until something happened with WoW.  I could not find anything I really wanted and then my wife hit me with a stroke of genius.

"Get the things you want to finish around the house done before OB starts because once it does that's all your going to want to do", she said.

Why the heck did'nt I think of that?  So I'm painting my basement, cleaning up the yard, installing a new banister etc.  IF OB starts tomorrow cool, but it takes two weeks it's also cool because I will get everthing I need to do done.

Long story short, we all have stuff we need to do.  I say lets take advantage of this time to do it then we can enjoy WoW that much more knowing we are not letting something we need to do slide.

I'm sure that is not much solace, but I hope it helps some folks out there.

Brilliant, Time to get a ton of brownie points. I need to stock up on them so they will last at least past Xmas. Thx for the tip.

I once met a Paladin, a man of pure virtue, a protector, a man who made me feel safe and secure when he was near me...... so I killed him.

LOL ... I agree with that .. since I got bored with DAOC it has been a long hard wait and like yourself I have been forced into discovering that I actually have a RL.

But as you quite rightly say WoW OB will soon put a stop to all that silliness image

Anyways Rome total war is helping with the distraction too image

Is this like "Come on in! The water is fine!" when it's really barely above freezing?

Not falling for it Kellyn, go back and report your failure to the Neglected Spouses Association.

I just play closed beta yesterday to stop my craving for WoW. That should hold me for about a week.

    What a tease :p

Speaking of guilds, anybody else going to have a bit of a problem with US only servers and intercontinental guild members?

I agree with this topic.  Right now my life revolves around checking to WoW web sites.  I need everything I can read about it to keep me sane.  I'm surprised I'm not already crazy.  Then again, can a crazy person know if they are crazy?  Oh nooo!! What if I'm already crazy!! What if it's all in my head!!  It can't be real!!  AHHHimage

Yeah really not happy about it at all ... we would like a mixed Euro / US guild but looks like it won't happen .. worst thing is it will probably split alot of friends apart.

The wait isn't going to kill anyone, just settle down, find something else to do, and wait...

Sadly I am in CB.  I think blizzzard has done a great job with Wow so far and as far as ready for OB.  Yah I think it is ready eventhough it has minor problems still to fix.  But hey I am still bias to the fact that I would like to start playing the game with my friends instead of trying to test this game to perfection.  No MMO is going to release perfect or near perfect.  It takes years for the game to evolve into something great!  Even as an EQ retired player, I really think EQ started becoming really good a couple years after it released, but it took everyone playing the game and reporting the issues as they arised.  Bah, I would not be upset with Blizzard if they released it today. (so called incomplete people call it)  I would happly pay full retail price and monthly fees in the state it is to be able to play with my friends/guild right now, than testing with only a couple of them.

    Just my 2 cents!!!

agreed with the original posters. I've actually thought about what he said actually.

But I don't have to do the same thing like him, like painting the basements and all.  For me, it's more about taking care of my room. Yesterday, I've cleaned my room during like 2 hours, I've cleaned all the wire-mess behind the computer, now everything is clean. I re-arranged my speakers positions. Also, I did more homework than I would usually do.. lol. Next weekend I'm gonna format my computer and get myself fresh drivers for all my hardware. oh .. and I thought I could buy myself a mini-fridge next to the comp, lol.. that's too much.. aight :P

The topic did sound good..... But what if I started doing all that stuff for her and, dare I say pay attention to her. Then when OB starts and the sickness set's in she'll be upset. Then she'll be wanting to go back to the good 'old days when I was cleaning up and eating dinner at the table instead of at the computer. Better to not get her hopes up.image

I am actually enjoying this extra time personally. I can save up and get my new monitor for when the game comes out. Plus I need to get a new desk and chair! I have been taking in as many hours as I can at work to get the money to do these things, so I barely have any free-time as it is. So, when it comes out, hopefully I will have my new stuff to enhance my WoW experience! I need a new chair so bad for the comfort my bum will need sitting there playing for hours on end!image Wood kitchen chairs hurt the behind, BAD! Ouchiesimage

Dude, WTF are you saying? I moved my mini fridge from my Den to my computer room so I can have my cold Beer's and my Red Bull's. Anyone else agree that this is a strategic plan to minimize down time between drinks... Now if I could only get that custom built Tiolet / Computer chair I WOULD NEVER HAVE TO LEAVE!!! MUWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA *cough* *cough* image  oh sorry. Was that over the top? image
