one reason i think this game will do well is that they obviously have confidence in thier product . one of the main reasons game like warhammer are starting to faulter is because they hav nt offered something similar . which in my view is pretty stupid although i m sure lots of you would disagree with me . free trials are like single player game demos . we would all question a single player games quality if there was no demo made available . why should it be different with an mmo .
so thumbs up to the makers of spellborn for doing what other publishers have been too dogmatic to do .
one things for sure i ll be trying it which i would nt have been if such a thing were not available .

Free client is nice, but imo what really matters if after a month you still feel like subscribing. Lots of MMOs flop lately even though they got people to buy the game - they just do not seem to keep people playing.
well there is also a version with 3 months play time included for only 40 euros. So it can give players that had a not so good impression the first month, the chance to check it out again with no extra costs.
A lot of MMORPGs have made significant improvements after the first month, but to an MMO player, first impression is everything. If the game isn't right in the first month, they won't bother giving it and extra chance and risk wasting 12-13 euros/dollars.
But if you give them an extra couple of months for free, people will likely still check it later on and give it a second chance and then they might like it

Except that you're not giving it to them for free, you'd be charging them, so I'm not really sure how you got the whole free thing in there.
Yeah, it still is 40 euros out of your pocket and personally I do not believe that people come back to check the game after they droped it a month back.
Besides that, boxes seem to be rare and not available in some countries (Scandinavia for example), so it is all up to f2p crowd.
Somehow they did not manage even to get f2p right - you can create an account, but cannot subscribe, so you are stuck at level 7, where free trial ends. For other f-ups they can blame publishers, but for this one it is clearly Dev fault.
level 7s better than nothing . it ll give people a chance to see if it runs on thier pc .
