I barely started the game yesterday, and before I play anyfurther I was wondering if my Main character's class effects my pvp and pve in the future. I currently use a swordsman and I'm wondering if should have chosen a different class if I want to pvp.
What is a good main character class to use for pvp?

? Sword
The Swordsman has the best survivability of all classes, which makes him the natural tank class. His attack is rather strong, but it can only affect a single non-flying target in the front row, so he should not be solely relied upon for offense. The Swordsman's basic magic skill, Flame Sword, attacks one enemy for a greater amount of damage. – The Sword has great defense power and physical strength to attack one enemy. The swordsman can equip the shield and the only mercenary specialized in defense and vitality.

The Spearman can attack a single non-flying foe in the front row. If there is another foe in the same column directly behind the target, that foe also receives damage, although less than the original target. The Spearman's basic magic skill, Lightning Spear, attacks two foes in a line for greater damage and reduces their attack power. The spear’s strong attack power can strike two enemies at once. Besides the main role as an attacking force, the character also has a very strong physical strength for defense.
? Axe
The slow-moving Viking can attack a single target in the front row. If that target has one or two neighbors in the same row, then those also take some damage. This character has many hit points but low defense, especially versus magic. The Viking's basic magic skill, Freezing Axe, can freeze an entire row of enemies for two turns. The axe has the greatest physical strength, able to attack three times. This character’s weak point is very low resistance to magic and has low action power.

Despite bonuses to evasion, this character's low health makes it unsuitable for the front line. It is a potent counter for enemy spell casters though, as the powerful single-target attack can reach every foe, regardless of its position in the enemy ranks. The Archer's basic magic skill, Silence, prevents the enemy from using magic. The bow can attack one enemy at a distance with a powerful arrow. This character has a great evasion rate but low physical strength.

The Gunner wields a musket and carries rather low protection. This character can damage an entire column of foes, with foes in the front absorbing taking most of the damage. The Gunner's basic magic skill, Wild Shot, shoots especially powerful bullets at a column of enemies and deals greater damage. gun’s long range ability inflicts damage to three enemies in a straight line. This character has a long physical strength but has wide attacking range.

The Artilleryman is armed with a hand-held cannon. Its standard attack damages a cross-shaped area, dealing a low amount of damage. The Artilleryman's basic magic skill, Deep Insight, inflicts damage over an area and enables him to see his foe's remaining hit points. The cannon’s long range attack strikes an enemy plus others in the cross range. This character has great accuracy but low action power.

The Shaman has both healing and damaging skills to support the party. Due to low health and defense, this character is best placed away from the front line. The Shaman's basic magic spell, Blessing of Life, heals her fellow mercenaries. The staff provides recovery and defense magic to help in battles. on the swordsman as a main, i see a lot of those in pvp and they're really pretty good ones. so yea, i think it's the right choice to go with the sword. the breakdown is also a really cool skill they get to learn and it's like the meteor strike in dealing damage.

I took spear as my main on Argos.
swordman is a pretty good choice for pvp. Unlike some other jobs you will never be sniped down by a lame 6-7 archer sniper party. And a stunlock gunner party will have a hard time keeping you stunned long enough to kill you. The only downside to being a sword in pvp is you will deal less damage, unless you max out breakdown, which can deal pretty decent damage to all your enemies mercs, but it's very expensive to do so. In Atlantica at least, unlike other games, you can ALWAYS make up for your main's shortcomings with your other mercs, or choose to expand on your main's advantages. There really is no one main job that is superior than the others when it comes to pvp, except for cannon, but I'm biased

i reposted this guide because it is really useful and i just want to give emphasize on it. well choosing your main character still depends on you man! gogogo! pick what you want! follow your heart! LOL!
for me the gunner is the best for main character.. it can attack land and flying monsters, also long ranged main characters can use the Chaos Wind skill that can deal 1000+ damage per turn on pvp if it is level 60. Another thing, gunners + cannons stuns enemies most of the time
Yeah, I'm currently running 3 cannon party, with me being one of the cannons. it's working out not that bad. Princess and set's will are awe inspiring. Nothing like watching your cannons shoot upto 15 times . Basically I get to 3rd turn, and I win.
yeah, gunners can hit flying opponents but i could kill a gunner with ease using my axe character. bwahahahah! lol! just for laughs bro! what level are you in now man? i just goit my exorcist!!! and i lurve it!!!

That's because almost no-one uses Mana Trap i definitely love when someone wastes his healer's turn launching Seth or Brutal on a "trapped" merc
But thus far, stunlock build is still very dangerous
i'm just new in atlantica online, got curious about the turn-based battle system...
anyone got tips for a newbie like me?... which character is best out for starters?

well i read that main should withstand the damages to survive the game... so i started mine with swordsman...
im on mycenae server too... let's party up sometime ^^
