Well there is farming, but i dont know any really good spots,
there is also Garrisons, which get you alot of money. Getting a craft skill up high is another good way to get money, but it is an infestment meaning it will cost you at first.

stack chrystals. . .then sell at the AH. That always seems to do the trick for me. Another thing i do is sell extra stuff that doesnt fit in the AH through my bazaar, then leave my guy on over night. When i wake up in the morning, i almost always have a significant amount of gil. To avoid being logged off, just put something on the up arrow key on your keyboard so its held in overnight. . .

    good luck!

Faming is just goin out and killing stuff for the items they drop and then selling them to AH
and dont bother doin garrison its a waist of time mostly in this game you have be wait and put alot of effort into crafting or fishing to bring in the 800k a day

Ok i will start by answering your question...

Everyone that played ffxi was really stupid and i discovered a very basic way to make 80k gil per hour... worst case scenarios were 70k but i made upwords of 100k and more in one  hour doing this.

There is a mine ( i forget the name of it, i haven't played in months ) by the gelsba outpost just west i think of sandoria, i forget the name of the mine, but if you finish all your gobby bag quests and bring about 5 or 6 stacks of pickaxes ( may be wrong it has been a long time ) then you , within an hour, will have enough gold and stuff to make 70-130k within that hour, even selling below AH prices.

If you have other toons to put  your items on, you can mine for a full day and easily makeover 400k in a day, and if you play all day i don't see why you couldn't make 1million Gil.

Most people in ffxi had a tendancy to accept much smaller financial rewards... i was in a guild of about 45 people on the Alexander server (sp?) and everyone always asked how i was so rich, even though i was never up with the highest level players.

Ok now that i have answered your question you have to read my review of ffxi.

Yes , leveling slow is very normal in final fantasy 11...

I played the game for 7 or 8 months, as a VERY hardcore gamer (8-14 hour days) And was still under level 50 when i finished.... (although i had a few jobs level 30-40)

FFXI is a horribly waste of time, i was playing very hardcore and then i suddenly realised "this isn't fun! it is a damn job!" i quit like the next day and never played it again.

I have never encountered such an enormous time commitment required to play a game.

    1. If you don't have a perfect group you are screwed... this means always a paladin for a tank, even the right job with the wrong subjob will gimp your group.

    2. Forced grouping + perfect group requirements = long waits for a group.  Not to mention most people were so retarded they would screw up your group even with the right class

    3. Death penalty... ok i don't mind having penalties in games, but with the INCREDIBLY slow leveling rate in ffxi, and the perfect group requirement, it happend on several occasions that i would play for a full day and have not made any progress by the end of the day.

    4. Horrible loot, most mobs don't even drop anything, and the only good drops are from mobs that spawn every 2-6 hours, and at any given time have about 3-10 people camping them, 24 hours a day... with about a 15% drop rate.

    5. The same exact mobs from level 1-75... this means you will be fighting little bunnies and fish for the entire 3000 hours you put into this game before you realise you were brainwashed.

    6. TINY WORLD... this wouldn't be as big of a deal if there was some other things in the game that were worthwile and exciting, but seriouisly i can run from San Doria to Bastok in like 10-15 minutes tops...  just too small for me.

    7. At level 7 everyone wears leather armor, at level 10 everyone wears one of 2 sets of armors, and the trend continues, everyone always wears the same armor and there is never many choices to make unless you want to gimp yourself. The only exception being at level 33-37 or so when you get racial specific gear, which has stats that builds on your races weaknesses.

In conclusion... i sujjest you play another game.

And BTW, i LOVED this game for the first few days i played it.. but as soon as you hit the 2nd zone it suddenly becomes a huge grind and you start to encounter forced grouping.

Ok i am done ranting :)

    Have a nice day.

He's right about the mining thing. Its VERY profitable. (However on my server, farming there would make you about 30k/hour) Mining in Ifrit's Culdren is more dangerous, but more proftiable.

Personally? I camped a thief's knife in Temp of Ugg. and after camping it for a week, it dropped. Sold it for 11,000,000 Gil, and never had to worry about farming ever again. I just make money buying low and selling high using expensive items, which usually yeild a 50k-100k profit for doing nothing.

That takes a lvl 74+ to solo. But there are other NM's that drop (on my server) 5mil-10mil gil items very rarely, but once you get it, it's all good.

HINT... don't try and farm at low level, it's  waste of time. Level HIGH to recieve the most benefits.

I met a high level fisher with lu shangs rod and everything. he earned 300k/h by fishing then selling it to the guild... but it takes a lot of tiem to get to that level in fishing

IF you are a low leveled character, you can make some money by farming the somewhat easier bees for their beehive chips and silks. I honestly think that farming these aren't the best and kinda suck, but they are good for lower levels as they don't have to expertise to go into the mines and just start hacking anywhere they want without being aggroed.

Farming isn't fun, but crafting and mining are the most common farming activities that I have come across. Crafting needs the huge investment in the beginning, but the return is great in the end (especially gold smithing) . Mining as everyone has said is quick too, but you need to buy the good eqpment to help you up your harvesting skills and mining skills where each range from 10k to 50k for each piece. If you are a starting miner and don't have a lot of cash, this too maybe a problem. To solve this, do some beehive ships and silks or bone chips too.

Also remember with mining, you have to find the mining spots too. And depending on the mine that you are in, the chances of finding a spot to mine before another person maybe hard. Its like spawn camping, you wait for the mining spots to appear and you start mining. But for sure, there will be other people in the mine also looking to get mining done, so keep that in mine ::::01::.

    It's not a bug in the software, it's a feature =).
