I think "o my god, another "wow is no kiddy game" post"

  • UncleSantaUncleSanta Member UncommonPosts: 99

To me WoW is kiddie because you get high reward with no risk.

I don't know the games you list so haven't got a clue what makes WoW not look like those

I don't think WoW is kiddie when talking about graphics. It's more cartoony than kiddie, but even cartoony doesn't quite fit. As for the game play I'd describe it as a teenager with games like Wizard101 being the kid and EVE being the grandfather. If that makes any sense.

Naah, can't say it's kiddie. Sure it's not a gory boobflashing game but it's more a comic cartoon 'teen' game.

I'm happy for those who have a game that they're enjoy. Cause I don't.

No, why would I? If you've ever played the RTS games, you wouldn't say so.

If kiddie is equal to simplisitc and lacking in depth. Then Yes !

.. and I know WoW has some big cliche back story but the gameplay is moronic.

Thats normal, if the number of players increase so do the kids. Actually i found the Warhammer chat (after they actually brought a global lol) allot worse.

No. Toontown Online is kiddie (i.e. marketed directly at children). WoW has a 12+ rating.

Just because it has a stylised and colourful art style does not make it 'kiddie'. A lot of mature players actually prefer this over the bland, grim and colourless worlds of games like AoC.

nah its not kiddie, just easy to get into, and there is nothing wrong with that.

When i went to blizzcon i seen so many older people there i was amazed, quite a few in their late 40's, 50's etc..

I know a few that are in their 60's on the server i play on.  lots and lots of business people play and i just learned of some people working on obama's team actually play wow lol.

doesn't matter what class your in, upper, middle whatever, what business you do, i have met lawyers, doctor's etc....lot of people enjoy the game.

the kid thing is just a weak attempt at putting down the game and its players.

there are kids who play, but i find them mostly to be pretty good at what they do and not act up, they are afraid of people ripping on them since they are kids, which is sad because more adults act stupid in WoW then kids.

Wow is full of choice in its end game. Far more playing styles than any other MMORPG.

You choose how you play, and what content you play.

That's the very simple reason why everyone wants to play it.

So perhaps you are a dull person.

I had the impression that WoW is full of kids.  The endless Chuck Norris jokes in Barrens chat was a prime example.

A popular misconception. People like to say that it's full of kids to bolster their cause. In actual fact, the primary age range is something like 18-25 (I forget exactly). But of course there is no accounting for maturity.

The problem with WoW is that it is accesible by such a wide demographic. As such, you are going to get a real mixture of people. The immature tend to be the most vocal (see Barrens chat) but in my experience the community is perfectly fine if you avoid the morons.

You want to play a game with alot of kids!! try City of Heros.  I have run into alot of younger players and in most cases arn't that bad to group with.  If this post was about maturity level I find the older the player is the more childish they act.  The younger players (pre-teens) are more often better behaved, I’m guessing so they will be accepted.

     Yes

Not really kiddish, but it is sort of early teen.  However, anyone can act like a kid.  It was created for a mainstream audience with the options and features they felt would at least be somewhat fancy to both newcomers and hardcore people.  This has advantages and disadvantages.  It attracts people young and old, and those older who act younger.

There are the adult games that focus heavily on lore and storyline with a deep and sometimes difficult class progression.  Also an involved but heavily rewarding craft system.  Then there are basic games like WoW, that give people a taste of everything, by not making it overly involved, but so that you still get something out of it.   It tries to create the notion that it's not a total waste of time.

This and the fact that people like to go where their friends go are the main reason for WoW subscription numbers.  If there were Gameshark codes for WoW, the sub numbers would be double.  Plus the 4+ million subs in China (out of 10 million).

Some people say that WoW is the best place to start if you are new to MMO games, because of all this, and  compared to some others.  Perhaps, but when you grow up, there are lots of others to choose from.

    what you think?

It has simple cartoon graphics. It has simple gameplay that you'd have to be seven kinds of mentally impaired not to understand. Its got a simple layout. its not NO risk, NO penalties, you can't possibly screw up in this game. Its just reward reward reward, for sneazing.

Yes this game is kiddie, one of the biggest kiddie games on the market.
