First off... have you played Darkfall yet? It may be unwise to praise a game that has not released yet. They may launch with every piece of gameplay they have promised.... and even you might hate it if the mechanics of the game are bad enough. Second - "Your throne of the cutting edge of FFA PvP" Seriously... you get a throne for that? PvP, PvE, and RvR are just different game mechanics - one no better than the other. All of them can be fun if done correctly. Yes, it is time for a mainstream PvP game but we'll see if these guys are really successfull at their implementation of the genre. Third - "Time and time again whiners have flooded"... maybe it is just me but I haven't seen that many posts about people wanting Darkfall to emphasise a PvE mechanic... other than the occasional Troll post. I would think most gamers are interested in a variety of game styles being available to them. Fourth - Using the term "carebear" makes you sound like a fourteen-year-old idiot. Yes, it does. Fifth - shutup and just enjoy Darkfall when it launches... if you are lucky maybe it will live up to your expectations.
I laughed. Clearly you are way too uptight to understand what I am saying. if you want me to disect your post as well I will have no problem doing so. Lets look at just one example, The Chronicles of Spell Born. The beta forms were flooded with.. yes thats right, carebears. They crammed it down the devs throat the PvP was not a major part of the game.
What this thread is about : The ideas that have lead darkfall to being a solid game on a solid concept with a foundation of PvP.
What this thread is not about : Carebears taking the time to troll around and ruin a topic. Yes, I understand you have the right to post anywhere you want. But just like this thread your voice will not matter, it will be not heard. You will not ruin the game.
Suprise! I can think of something that will offset any arugment
I laughed more. I thought we were discussing Darkfall, not the Chronicles of Spellborn? If so, then you may be completely correct as I never followed that game.
What I laugh it is your comment that Darkfall is a solid game on a solid foundation... how do you know that? Are you in the Beta? I doubt that... at any rate until the game launches no one really knows if it is a great game or just another great idea implemented poorly.
Last... I am no troll - feel free to examine my previous posts, I am generally more about humor then anything else on these forums, this topic on the other hand is as clear a troll post as you can start - which is why I repsonded to it. I get tired of OP's like you who are just trying to stir up more crap on the forums with comments like "your throne of PvP" or "carebears". Your entire topic is a load of dung from the start. And I am looking forward to playing Darkfall for it's PvP - thank you very much.
And again... "You will not ruin the game" ... I hope I do not ruin the game, I want something else to play besides the old standards of the MMO industry.... but I don't believe you can ruin a game that doesn't exist yet. And I always say that no game exists until after it's launch... they are all vaporware until then. If Darkfall suddenly switches to PvE it will be the Dev's to blame and no one else.
@^^^ This is what you are not understanding. The devs nor the community will not let your voice be heard. You are not welcome. Join the world as it is or go somewhere else.
A world full of vapors.
I love how posters like Jess are dead set on driving away players instead of encouraging people to try something else then what they've been doing. The Darkfall community should be reaching out to those looking for something other than pve grinds and ignoring those that don't understand the game's ffa pvp design. Not to mention its bad form and utterly turns off more mature minded players who are open to try anything atleast once or twice lol.
Good going OP keep pushing away potential customers.
nope, absolutely not. I like darkfall and want to play, but i'm more interested in PvE, so they are going to have to change the game in a bunch of ways and i'm going to see to it that they do... it's unavoidable, you may as well accept it. If PvE games have to suffer the tantrums of PvPers, then the PvP games must now hear the tantrums of PvE'rs...... Your game is going to change.
I hope you are joking because the current features explained on their website are totally incompatible with a PvE environment. If you are interested in PvE there are about 10,000 other games designed for it.
Don't be terrorized! You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL!
I can't say this enough. Thank you DARKFALL for not listening to the carebears. For not making a PvE server. For not budging an inch off your throne of the cutting edge of FFA PVP. Time and time again whiners have flooded forms with the ideas that players don't want an FFA PVP environment. I think you I, and a lot of other people know what is up when I say... its about time no one listened to them.
Its all about the money bro not about what you or anyone else wants.
If they start losing sub's, it will be added. If they are still losing money then it will be free with a mall.
Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...
Seems to me that if someone is sooo in love with PvP they would play WoW. I can see why someone that can't play WoW with any success would want another PvP game. So each to their own. In my fantasy game there would be a balance of the different gaming styles. More important is the fact we are all gamers and it would be nice if we just learn to be considerate of others choices. IF we were all the same we would be clones........ How boring that would get?
Break down of play styles:
PvP: Aka Adrenalin rush, Like any other addiction over time it takes more to get the same rush.
PvE: Aka Some adrenalin rushs, like PvP it requires some thought and research to be good at it.
( This includes players that like to craft , mine etc. ) The point of this is we all play games to enjoy them not to become player haters. Here is some food for thought... If Dev's took crafting etc out of the game and you had to pay what ever for ingame items. there would be no way to talk a npc into a lower price for a given item. Maybe thats is what you want a streight up hard core PvP game where you do not get dropped items from player kills. Few ways to make the required gold to buy items with and no way to make them. Ummmm that could be the next wave of PvP f2p games. becareful what you wish for........

This isn't going to be well recieved but....
1st let me say I agree that the FFA PvP and Darkall in general is very appealing, and I plan to join up ASAP...if my system can handle it...but....
What is this that only you should have a game that suits YOUR play style...Why shouldn't the "Carebears" have a excelent game that has relaxed PvP so they can enjoy THEIR play style. I agree that Darkfall should not dilute the game at the cost of those that want FFA PvP...but on the other hand...what's the problem with having a "SERVER" for those that still want to play?
SRY, but I just don't understand that mentality O.o

Apparently the OP is part of that core PvP crowd that makes sure that PvP centric games always fail due to the immaturity of their customer base.
halo failed because of its immature core PvP crowd? do tell
EDIT: i know im gonna get a flame response, but what I mean by this is, games can definately, without a doubt, succeed with an incredibly immature fanbase.
Yeah, but that's an FPS and not a subscription based MMO where the immaturity of the player base can have an impact on player advancement.
But besides, I was just being a dick for humor's sake anyway...lol
There may be immature people who think they like PvP but those are usually the ones who go away screaming after the "free" month.
There are a lot of us who are playing Warhammer currently who like well-designed PvP with incentives to have both large-scale and small-scale PvP in a fun way. We're all looking at Darkfall with interest.
One of the things I find most interesting is the open-ended abilities with no classes. One of the worst parts of any PvP game is class balancing where, at any given time, someone innevitably has the most "I-win" flavor of the month... and they scream at devs about who needs nerfing and who needs buffing... Darkfall takes pretty well all of that garbage out of the equation... if you don't have the OP'd class, well, it's your own damn fault isn't it? I like that

To the OP: I'm comin....I'm comin to CHANGE your game and water down yor peeveepeez!!!1!
I am a PvE Player and have NO interest in this game What so Ever.Nothing about this game apeals to me. Graphics look bad and the gameplay looks like its going to be a Greafers heaven. I will stick to my Carebear world as you put it. I am very happy that they are releasing a Game JUST for PvP players. I hope it fills all your hopes and dreams of your perfect game. Thats less whining we have to listen to.
Don't get your hopes up.... They will not be happy if there are not a bunch of newbie carebears to gank regularly :P There will be inevitable posts about how the game has good PvE and how their isn't ganking and it is a more fun game etc... Kinda like fishing for carebears tossing out lures, hahahaha.

Dont get me wrong, it would be nice if it works out, I'd certainly spend a lot of time playing it, but after all these years of vaporware and crappy mmos one shouldn't get ones expectations up too much until the deed is done.
PS to the op, gameing companies who have been releasing MMO's with less pvp than you like werent listening to "carebears" as you claim, they took a look at the most succesful MMO ever made (im not saying its an awsome game, but its undeniably the MOST succesful) and decided "hey! It will be interesting to be sure...especially since DF is not out and you can't really tell if they "listened" or not.
What I find ironic is for a revolutionary FFA PVP title, DF has an awful lot of PVE elements in it. In fact, the whole game is mostly PVE.
Kill monsters? Check.
Get loots from Mobs? Check
Kill critters/complete missions to improve? Check.
Explore a vast world? Check.
Craft Items? Check.
Housing and guild based building? Check.
Team play to defeat bosses and conquer dungeons? Check.
The only real difference is the OP says the game will let you kill and loot other players like you could a mob. How is this revolutionary? UO did this like, what, last decade?
If you want exclusively FFA PVP then why not play CoD, Halo, Unreal Tournament, Counterstrike..etc. If you are really into HARDCORE PVP, why the desire to play DF, or any MMO for that matter, when you have the above titles that do it so much better without PVE mechanics getting in the way?
Could it be those games require REAL skill since there will be no fantasy RP skill up and gear schemes? Could it be that the presence of "carebears" add the elements necessary for MMO style play? Could it be that you enjoy the PVE stuff too?
What will make or break Darkfall is how it balances FFA PVP with its PVE elements and being able to do it while maintaining enough of a player base that finds DF's PVP/PVE mix fun.
That means, the game will probably need the "carebears", if for nothing else, to give the PVp'ers the targets, reasons, incentives and the living world that makes GOOD PVP meaningful and rewarding.
Therefore, Jessonater (OP), I would be wary of scaring all those obnoxious PVE'ers (carbears, according to you) away.. you just might need them...
