Hi all.
I played AoC when it was released and loved 1-20, but felt a bit ripped off afterwards, so decided not to continue subscribing.
Now I'm starting to hear a lot of good things about AoC again, and I'm really bored atm, so I'm strongly considering returning, but have a few questions.
- How's population, good, bad, improving?
- I heard about some server merges, how will they be and when will they be?
- What's the best EU PvP server to play on (Most populated)
- Should I start now or wait for merges?, because I heard about a fresh server too, but I'm not sure how many people will join in on it.
- (EDIT) And what's the least played class - most wanted?

Yes, i definitely recommend you to come back to AOC, it has improved ALOT.

Some servers have low pop and some have high pop. But overall the pop is improving.

They will merge many diffrent low/medium pop servers, this will happen in january.
- What's the best EU PvP server to play on (Most populated)
Fury is nr1, Wildsoul is nr2
- Should I start now or wait for merges?, because I heard about a fresh server too, but I'm not sure how many people will join in on it.
You should start now, roll on Fury or Wildsoul.

Least played, hmm i would say Dark Templar since they are the most UP class.
Most wanted, Guardian (best tank) / all three healer classes ( Bear shaman, Priest of mitra, Tempest of set. DPS classes are ofc also wanted. But my recommendation to you make a class you like and think is fun to play.

I too am thinking of playing AoC again. I kinda miss my bear shaman...
Hey there,
I have played since launch and I can definitely say the population has improved. I play on Aquilonia PVP RP - EU and its busy every night. In any hub there are more than enough people and global chat is packed. So all good signs. Of course what goes with that is more PvP when you 'dont' want it. Also our guild has about 10 players who never played the game join in the past 2 weeks. Lots of new subs. All enjoying so far.
Not sure what the best EU PvP server is but Aquilonia is a safe bet for active PvP and population.
Most played class...tough call I do see a lot of rangers, BS and probably ToS. Don't see so many Dark Templars or Conquerors. The most sought after classes are PoM/BS, Guardian and third necros. The first 2/3 are essential for all groups.

picking a class in aoc was harder for me than most games.
you wanna play everyclass through tortage, bearing in mind the class balance changes alot at higher level, but you get the play style.
decide whether you want to be a mele class or not. if you like the mele system and want the challange of it in pvp, that narrows it down alot. if you hate the system pick a caster only. if you like both well god save you.

On the class front though:
Bear Shaman, played to level 79. Love the class and its also not straight forward to play. Need to think.
Assassin up to level 42 so far. I love the DPS it generates but the lack of heals makes it kill or be killed
Priest of Mitra, played to 62. Combat is old school. Push one button to use skill so not as complicated as the other two. I play just to have a break from the other combat style.
Other guildies love ToS and ranger.
Hope this helps. BTW BS is a little crap until you break into level 20's, its one of the classes that improves with age

I started out a little bit as a PoM, just as I played when I first played this game, but I'm not sure if its the class for me ^^
BS sounds like a fun class, so does Guardian, but I'm not really the front-line kinda guy, I played healer in pretty much every mmo I played, and I played it very well

----hey chryses i think you really need to just focus on 1 class until it hit lv80. It depend what you use a BS for, it can be the most powerful class in AOC or the worst. It depend how you use it.., AOC is skill base. (i know some1 might argue that)
---hey QGoddyQ well , why not get your POM to lv80 and you will see alot more about the game & your class. I know there is tons of question you want to know but you have to find it yourself. I remember when i was playing my Conq, i was about to give up on lv60, but i keep play it, czu that is my boy(lol) i have to keep playing, i can't give up while it not lv80.

AOC is a group mmo it mean you need to join a guild to experience all the group quest. I mean you can lv up 1- 80 by yourself but it is boring as hell.
LV80 is just the beginning of the game, What you can do in Lv80? well Siege/ Raid/ Epic quest/ or mini-pvp
Siege you need into a guild (if you in a strong guild)
Raid - again you need a guild, no body invite anyone not in a guild. (you can do each raid in a 7day cycle)
Epic Group - again you might find ppl in global chat but it take forever, so a guild must need
Mini - pvp. you dont need into a guild & randomly get into a group but your chance of win is low.
Yea I know I need to hit that crucial 80. My BS is 79 now but I don't want to grind out the last level as I still have 30 high level missions I wouldn't mind finishing. I thought AoC wasn't as much skill as it was hyped up to be but since seeing some of my guildies in action I realise you can play the game 2 ways. Stand on the spot and beat it out or use all the tools and really have a great PvP experience. I am having some training with my BS and its an interesting class to play. Which is why I like it so much. For the OP the BS is a good class because you get a taste of melee combat, have plenty of spells and loads of passive skills that switch on. Depending on build. Good thing is you are used as a healer in battle so you get a lot of requests for groups but not expected to be as good as a PoM.
Well I'm really quite enjoying my PoM atm, I hope it will go on like this

Difference it can make going on a decent server is fantastic, when the merges happen things should come together nicely.
