Similarities between the Madoff scheme and DF:
1. Tasos and crew have managed to keep the general gaming public and reputable 3rd party reviewers in the dark by taking great pains to “release” tidbits of information only to parties known to them (and to whom they can exert control)
2. Tasos and his fanbois get hostile when genuinely concerned gamers ask questions that might reveal their scam (see the hostility towards the mmorpg interviewer, which has been casually turned around by the fanbois with the argument “who wouldn’t be angry?” The answer: someone with nothing to hide would not have been hostile)
3. The victims (future naïve, paying players and especially the fanbois) willingly ignore red flags that for years have been raised by gamers who don’t drink the DF kool-aid.
4. Fanbois are very, very, very eager to believe that DF is working. They are Tasos extended mouthpieces, making up excuses on Tasos’ behalf, explaining Tasos’ and Aventurine’s actions as if they are expert psychiatrists or are Tasos’ BFF. I wouldn’t be surprised if Tasos and some of his crew pose as one of these fanbois to keep the lies going)
5. Tasos and crew have managed to convince fanbois that Aventurine is going to deliver an actual game even though this close to the supposed launch they have refused to (or have been unable to) divulge how.
It really takes a village to make scams that are this big.
Caveat emptor. If its too good to be true, it’s a scam like Darkfall.

I don't know if it;s a scam. But if it is I would say it's an investor / grant scam...
Razorwax actually already got $500,000 YEARS ago from an investor in Norway who ended up losing all that $ when they moved to Greece. Funny thing is that money does not show up in the company records online.
Aventurine also got $200,000 in 2006 from a grant for start up software companies there.
they can simply keep developing as long as possible and take as much $ as possible from wherever (while taking most of the $ into their own pockets) then finally releasing ANYTHING just to show they did something and so they can't get into troubles.
Why spend tons of money on building something that has no gurantee of success when you can just keep the money for yourself?

This somehow reminds me of (and I know I will get called a troll) the early days of the Communist Party with a Leader that has total control on all the information he sends out and trusts only his friends family and allies with this information, creates his own "press/media" to spread his lies and then convinces an entire bunch of "fanboys" who are expected to deliver a message with absolutely nothing to back themselves up with! Keeps saying and promissing the World and that things will be great! And then expects all of us to belive him or otherwise he locks us up for sepaking the truth against him and his party/game. What a Scam!
Its worse to actually think about doing something then actually doing it!!!

I think OP has valid points here, although before saying it is a scam I would rather wait until Jan 22nd. However, so far it is going that route,
I personally won't be shocked if they do a few more months delay to launch the game. However (IMO) even if they do launch the game on 22nd Jan, it will be still failure without an open beta or free trial, since to try out the game you will have to purchase... whichever side you look it smells.

A lot of people have been getting worked up about this game. If it turns out to be garbage or a scam as you guys are calling it then you can just go back to WoW or whatever game you came from. Or even go outside and enjoy real life for a moment.
Its not like they are going to get your entire life savings or somehow get you into some messed up contract you can't get out of (like a military obligation or phone contract).
The only people who should be worried and making a stink is the investors in the game.
I'm not sure what all the huff and puff is all about. Just wait and see and it will be what it will be.

I mean sure, it's common sense to be skeptical of a company asking for money with nothing to show for it yet. The problem is Aventurine so far has a good deal to show and hasn't asked for a penny, yet "Common sense" says it's a scam?
Maybe your next post will actually have some valid points. Lets hope so, since you seem to have chosen to represent your side on this debate.

Wow. This is more entertaining then watching a video rental.
What's amusing is how similar these forums are now to the old Mourning forums a month before it actually launched. I mean almost EXACTLY the same, with the fanboys refusing to even look at any common sense that clearly showed that Mourning was going to be a pile of trash.
Granted, Darkfall isn't trying to ripoff the fans as Mourning did. But I bet that the game is about at the same level. Actually Mourning was probably a better working game then this thing probably will be.

That is one of the benefits of living in a Free country. We are all entitled to our own world-view and we don't have to accept the opinions of anyone else as our own.

What? NDA's are a joke. Give me a physical NDA to sign from Aventurine. I'll sign it and take a crap on it and mail it back to Tasos and crew with links to all the material I uploaded from their secret NDA protected Beta stating that I broke their NDA.
And absolutely NOTHING would happen to me.
NDA's CANNOT be enforced. Show me one example of someone ever getting into any kind of real legal trouble over an NDA.
People who say that this game is a scam or is going to be bad are just as clueless or even more so than people who think it might be good.
There are videos and screenshots that show some information to people that are interested which allow them to form a very limited opinion. Those who say it's a scam / bad game only have the lack of information to back up anything they say, which not evidence at all. Outside of internet boards such conclusions would be mocked by level headed people due to there obvious failings.
The fact is nobody yet knows what it will be like, everyone who says it's going to good / bad / scam seem to have a child like view of things.

A few weeks before a launch and it's even more obscure and vague than it's ever been.

Really though you make a valid point. The lack of information as to what is going on behind the scenes is creating the climate of fear mongering or fanboism we see now.
Hopefully something will break soon and some people can go back to bashing or worshipping other games.

This is the main problem we "trolls" as we are called here and wonder why, when all we want it the truth or PROOF!
I have asked in many many posts here and elsewhere (again 1 million members here and over 250k in the DF Official Forums) to actually say that THEY HAVE PLAYED THE GAME..........but yet after months and months, NOT ONE PERSON has come forward with proof!! Don't send me any pro-tasos media links or ingame staged videos, all I want is one real player that everyone can vouch for is not "part of the Aventurine Family and Friends" then I will forever shut the F** up and at least wait to see what comes out of it but until then I will forever stand up and stop us MMO players from getting shafted like we did wit Vanguar, DnL, AoC and some others.............I can't wait for the excuses on the 22nd???

Its so funny everyone keeps posting about these facts that don't exist. Facts need actual unmodified data that people can form a conclusion about. Everything about DF has been modified by Adventurine before it was made public. This game is completely shrouded in a veil of mystery.
The only fact that really exists about this game is that no one knows anything about it. I think the main problem with the game is that the devs are so secretive that the vibes a prospective player gets is that it is going to be terrible. Although, I really do hope that it isn't true.
