how is the pace of leveling? Is it really slow like L2, or fast like WoW?
How strongly is grouping encouraged? How popular is group content?

Leveling is way faster than in L2, people have reached the level cap already affter 3 weeks.
Grouping content is highly encouraged, most of the hard and rewarding quests are for groups, there are a lot of group areas and dungeons with elite mobs, if you want good equipment, you better group up.
Well L2 is a lot faster in Gracia than it used to be...its easily possible to hit lvl ~78 in 2 months in L2. I think a better question would be how many hours does it take to hit the level cap....But I would guess somewhere in between the 2.
Do they still intend to use Game Guard?
Gameguard is used to protect accounts on internet cafes mainly, so yeah, they'll use it.
I never played L2 so I can't compare the two, But I have played many grinder games in the past ( You know the one's that start out fast then it turns into a big time sink).
Aion starts out fast at first like any other MMo out there. But it settles down to a nice steady pace, At mid lvl cap you can make a lvl every day or two days depending how you play.

I have been playing in the OB and live game, And I wish I could play in a party (language issues there). Groups fight the hardest mobs and get the best gear.
With me mostly soloing I would not stand a chance against these mobs. I can't wait for this game to come out in the NA/EU so I can play with friends.
Soloing can / is so boring for me, Its just not my style. At least the quest do not have you killing 1,000 mobs at a time. The most you will have to kill for a quest is around 20.

the replies about grouping sound very good! I kinda prefer slow leveling, but I've grown accustomed to the easier/quicker games so I guess I dont mind so much anymore.

I guess it's even faster and more fun than Shaiya leveling lol.
The level cap is now 50 right? I know in the beta it was 30...
When it wen't live the cap was set at lvl45, It may be lvl50 now but i'm not sure.
