Hi,
I am a long fan of EQ (played other games as well DAOC, UO, AO, etc.). I am still playing EQ and I am considering EQ2. I watched the movies coming out from beta testers. I can't help getting a DAOCish empty landscape feeling with lots of those fast paced action-RPG. Those name tags over mobs and flashing arrows make me feel like the game was designed for arcade lovers or for young teens. I am not in beta, so those who are, how much depth is there? Is it comparable with EQ or Morrowind or more with Dungeon Siege and Diablo?

Well...from my limited time in I'd say more on the EQ (from what I know of it) and Morrowind. There certainly is a TON more to do and see than in Diablo 2 as well as Dungeon Siege. Both of which I played btw. I certainly don't get an "empty" feeling from the landscape or areas. There is much action from NPC's and or local animals. Birds and butterfly's and such, as well as ambiant sounds help to draw you in to the world.
The fighting system does seem to move fairly quickly...on par IMO with WOW fighting style and the Name and Info bars truely help to know many things in game...especially durring fights. I would trust to say that you'd get use to it very quickly and come to appreciate what it shows you.
So in answer...I feel there is MUCH more depth to EQ2 than many other games...especially other MMOG's that I've played as of late.
I'd certainly give it a try and see what you think. You'll always be able to sell your game/account if you decided it wasn't for you
Best of Luck & hope you try it and like it as much as I do!
