Well after playing for a few nights on the free play versions (the max level or "fame" as its called in TCoS I could get too was 7)
I was pleasently surprised. I would consider myself a PvPer in most games, the more pvp the better so I started on the international pvp server. I tried out both the warrior specialtys of Adept and Blood warrior. You choose your specialty at lvl 5. Of the two (remember I could only play to lvl 7) I prefered the Adept. The classes that seem to be overplayed are the runemage (which has a reputation for being way overpowered currently and will be nerfed) and the Trickster (an AoE rogue like charecter)
I had fun with charecter creation, you pick your armor and weapons right from the start and basically just upgrade them with "sigils" throughout your time in the game, you can switch to other starting weapons and armor but in the end you could if you wanted keep the same weaps and armor from lvl 1-50. There could have been more charecter creation options but wha tthey had wasn't bad. Most people seemed to make there charecter look as much like a ninja as possible which cracked me up, I personally always try to make the biggest, ugliest, dumbest looking charecter I can.
The graphics were OK, personally I would rather have decent graphics like those found in TCoS then GREAT graphics that result in all sorts of performance problems like what AoC had. My computer is OK by gaming standards. The graphics have a WoW /WAR cartoony feel to them, more in the direction of WOW but the cities look pretty good.
The combat system is what stood out the most for me with the rolling skill deck it was actually a lot of fun once I got the hang of the dodging part of combat. You have to remember in this game that you can actually dodge attacks, so while fighting you want to keep moving and trying to circle around the mob, or strife back and fourth while swinging at them. The skill deck is nice and I would say innovative, it's a step froward from the clunky skill bar that has been around MMOs for like ever. You can mix whatever skills you want into the skill deck so you could when fighting have skills set up like this, you swing your sword using skill hack, then you caste a debuff, then you shoot an arrow (this wouldent be a good setup, but just giving an example)
All in all a fun game, as other have said it probably wont rock the market or anything but it's definitly something new and worth at least playing. The grind isn't bad at all its from what I Was told by higher level charecters in game 100% quest all the way to 50. The ONLY thing that will keep me away from the game is that the North American release seems to be cutting to close to Darkfall and as long as that game delivers half of what its promsing I think I will be dedicating my time there. It would have been great had they released this game when they first said they would in November. So if your not so hardcore PvP and Darkfall scares you and your looking for something fresh and new then I would definitly give this game a go, it's fresh and has a sort of old-school appeal to it, there is little hand holding in terms of quest and such, you have to find everything on your own.

Agreed, but I am planning on subbing to TCoS for at least a month before trying Darkfall. I'm thinking Darkfall would be a good one to skip for the first couple weeks. Let the kids get over the fact that its open PvP. Its gonna be a chaotic clusterf$%k for the first couple weeks. The joy of DF will be after the ADD folks have left and the community is more developed.
