You've successfully summoned: Fanboy! Hero of the Thread!
Tasos never lies. Darkfall is next gen. Darkfall is going to take ALL (yes, all) of WoW's subs. I will remember this thread when you are all playing Darkfall. They are testing servers with people, beta IS happenning (since November... do you guys even read?) There is likely at least 6,000 people playing beta, that is a fine number to test on one server seeing the max is 10,000 players at once.
You can test a server with VM (virtual machines) accessing that server. What you can't test is the unpredictablity of players in mass. Also, AI works of the limits that are set by the host (like the matrix) but people do not.

That doesn't account for differences in hardware configurations, and doesn't account for any latency since it is most likely set up in a lan. Saying the AI is testing the game for them is a complete joke.
Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic Played: SWG, Guild Wars, WoW Playing: Eve Online, Counter-strike Loved: Star Wars Galaxies Waiting for: Earthrise, Guild Wars 2, anything sandbox.
Then you really have no idea how betas work. You cant even stress test ONE server with 500 people. So DF has no idea what their hardcap is on a server. Closed beta WAR had 10x that number... Hell... every MMO I have ever beta tested cept for possibly UO had more than 500 people testing it this close to release.
They can expand the numbers with open beta sure (when and if) however, doing a mass stress test 1 - 2 weeks before release isnt really going to give them time to do much with the information they get.
But... people like me have been saying this stuff for quite some time, and no one is listening... so... on release (again, when and if) , when the game plays like UO out of the box, at least Ill get the small satisfaction of knowing I was right.
Even though those numbers you just gave your opinion on of how many are actually in the CLOSED Beta are the largest we've ever seen... even using those numbers... yeah, that is too few.
We are a bit more than 1 Month away from Release... 1 Month... add another zero to each of those numbers and then you've got something. With the size of DarkFall; at this point before Release I don't think anyone honestly thought we'd only be talking about a few hundred Beta Testers.
Come on, let's be honest.
In September did you really think there would only be a few hundred Beta Testers in the middle of December? Really? Hmm... I'm having trouble believing that.
You can hire third party companies who have complex software that can penetration test your servers, this can be anything from simulating common hacking to 10,000+ users stress testing it to it's limit. Thats how companies know whats the ideal maximum number of players per server. Whether they are using one of these companies of course I don't know.

In September everyone thought and hoped they got a beta invite via e-mail, It never got sent to anyone.
Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...
I wonder what the Developers are using to test the server strength with the few Beta testers.
As far as i know, I did read in one of their updates they were using Bots with their AI to simulate high stress on the server. This is posible to be done. I dont know how much efective it could be, but it is posible. You may need 2 servers one to hold the game server and other one to simulate the players.

yea has alot to do with packet spaming and having the bots cause the same stress as a real person and the ai skilling up and using the game mechanics and stuff its weird and id ont think anyg ames has actully done it this way. i know some have tried using simulations that log npcs in but they dont cause the stress needed

yea actully since tasos said there only a few hundred in that interview and they was going to ramp it up considerbly i would say there will be around 1000 testers end of december
The answer is clear.....when you subscribe...you will be a paying beta tester.Pretty standard operating procedure for many games that have been launched reciently.WAR is the latest that comes to mind.
That is a few.. that is a VERY small number to test a MMORPG with. You need tens of thousands of people to properly test a MMORPG.
But there is NOT even 500-700 in Beta.
If there were that amount then there would be leaks EVERYWHERE.
Of course the fool called Tasos would like everyone to believe that all these hundreds of people are all conveniently obeying like good people which is why there has not been 1 single Beta leak.
Who does he take for fools? Other than the fanboys..
they've said they have a few/several hundred people in beta. this is very different to a few thousand people they will need to prove thier bold claims.
the game is gona fail epically when 10k people try to log on the same server, unless they open beta test. only then can they really say for certain how many players they can support.

They won't be able to test it properly. So it will have lots of problems on release.
Magic...and a few sprinkles of fairy dust?
That Guild Wars 2 login screen knocked up my wife. Must be the second coming!
Didn't you hear? Tasos has said that the AI is helping them test the game...
No, I'm not joking either.
Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic

They are also using AI to balance classes.
What a wonderful pvp experience this will turn out to be.
You all forget, Tasos is a demigod. You really want to start arguing with a demigod?

OP do a search and you'll get your info. The stress test will be the majority of the open beta.

They aren't. Just like they aren't testing vast expanses of their vast worlds terrain..

They dont need to balance classes. This game has no classes. You do what you want, that means, you can learn to use a bow and necromancy, for example.

I was a ranger necro in Guild Wars
edit: I think what you mean is Warrior/ archer/ illusionist/ rogue
