LOTR MoM - get now or later?

xenoclixxenoclix Member UncommonPosts: 298

hey all, just bout to start playing Lotro again after a year break from it. With the expansion out, should i be getting it?

Reason why i say that is because i will be starting off as a new character from 1. Is there any benefit from the expansion that i will gain from lvl 1-50?

or is MoM mainly for high lvl content 50+?

Thanks in advance!!

Mines of Moria is only 50+ content. The only benefit to get the expansion now it so you can try the new classes.

    If WoW = The Beatles
    and WAR = Led Zeppelin
    Then LotrO = Pink Floyd

The content is pretty much for 50+ only

the only reason you might get it now would be to play the new classes

I had issues keeping interest in the game before, until I started playing the Warden class.  If you wanna try out the new classes, give it a shot (it was worth what I paid for it).  Rune-Keeper is pretty fun, but I don't really like caster classes.

Other than that, there's no content for 1-50.

Ive tried to play the game on two seperate occasions and left each time for the same reason: lame pvp and slow combat. Melee combat just felt way too slow, is warden an exception?

If you want fast paced, skill based, combat then you're looking in the wrong place.   NO MMO offers such a thing.   Go play an FPS and stop trying to change the MMO genre into something it isnt and will never be.

Thanks for your useless feedback, but there have already been a few twitch based/skill based MMOs out there like Planetside. WoW also has faster paced combat than LotRO.

My what a useless post, not really on topic is it?

If you arnt going to buy mom for the hig end content right now, buying it for the new classes is a good reason. The warden adds a bit of speed to mele combat, and the rune keeper is the can do everything class (xcept tanking)

thanks for the posts guys, really appreciate it :).

I think form what you guys have told me - will lay off MoM. Warden does sound good, but ill personally see how far i get into the game if its mainly high end content.

    Thanks again guys!!

You can start playing in the new area when you reach about lvl 47. At that time its a good idea to do Volume2 book1 to start leveling a legendary weapon or two. But for starting a new char at lvl 1 its enough to get Shadows of Angmar.

I quite like the look of this game and will probably give it a go.

How long would it take a casual player to lvl up to lvl50 ?  20 hours ave playing time a week.

Took me about a month to level a LM to 50 with less playtime than that.. :)
