UO, still think about the good times

UO imo was the best MMO ever created.  Even today games like EQ/WoW don't even compare.

The crafting system was solid.  You wanted to craft something you got your butt out to that tree cut the wood, learn carpentry, and build some furniture.

It didn't have the graphics, but it had everything else.  Freedom to attack whoever whereever, player housing, intelligent system of travel, guild wars, factions war, man this game was classic and always will be.

I even liked the fact there wasn't a general chat when I play.  If you wanted to talk to someone you got right up next to them so if you slipped up you might get a fireball across the face.  Maybe not as convenient, but much more immersive.

There was also *gasp* a death penalty.  That's right !  You actually lost something when you died, so some people tried not to die.  It was nice cause you lost something yet it was replaceable.  Gear didn't hold the same weight.

UO is so far away from the modern day mouthbreathers' MMOs.  That was such a fun time.

Unfortunately after the carebear steer of Trammel I knew it was time to depart.  The game would be divided too much to really enjoy anymore.

UO will always have a special place in my heart.

Im in the same boat.  Its been almost 5 years now? since i've played UO.  I tried going back to UO since I missed it so much, but that only lasted for a few days.  I would have never in a million years guessed this game would of gone down the path it has today.  Oh well, as long as we have our memories.... It was fun.
