No character wipe OB to retail??

hmmm... where the hell was I??

some rumor going on that CB to OB Blizzard is going to wipe them.

but OB to retail, they are not going to wipe but let us keep our character?? image

wats the truth? image

    I seen a post by a dev about 5 days ago saying they haven't decided what to do from CB > OB or OB > retail.

    So unless there is an update nobody knows.

    If they do not whipe the characters that are from OB going into retail then i will not purchase the retail version. I think it is stupid and would ruin the economy to see a bunch of level 30 insomniacs running around ganking level 1 people on release date.

    Level 30? Hell, if OB lasts any mroe than 2 weeks.. we'll be looking at level 50s.

    I really hope Blizzard doesn't do this. The only other game I've seen do this is Lineage 2.. and that didn't work out too well. :P

    from wat I hear lvl60 is max... 2 weeks to lvl50??

    WoW lvling system is that fast??

    Well if release date is the 22nd and OB is the 1st(My estimation) than thats 3 weeks.

    I bet a lot of CB people are planning a way to get to level 50 by 3 weeks which is possible but would be extremely hard and would require a lot of "sick days" and coffee.

    from your estimation, OB will start exactly in a week.

    No player whipe from OB to to retial is a very very very bad idea in my opinion. The only mmorpg I know of that did this was Lineage 2 and we all know what happen with that.

    For like the millionth time, there will be a character whipe from CB to OB, and again from OB to CB, just read the WOW forums once in a while, you know people who work for Blizzard actually work there, I think what they have to say about character whiping is a bit more credible then what people on here say.  So go read the WOW forums for yourself.

    True, it is filled with those annoying loser WOW CB testers who in my opinion have overall done a pretty crappy job.  WOW is good, but not because of their beta testers, they were just annoying sheep.

    I agree, it would hurt the game rather than help it. I don't see them letting this happen.

    Link please.. I just read something ~1 week ago that said Blizzard didn't know if they were whiping yet.. so unless I missed something(which I may have) then there is still no decision.

    I don't think they're going to carry the CB>OB>reatail, that would hurt the overall aspect of the game rather than help it. And again, that wouldn't be such a smart idea due to economy and player base levels.

    I mean let's all admit it.

    We all get that buzz from running to the store and getting the software installed and registered for the first time when you deal with a mmorpg.

    Then you have the 7 day marathon leveling contest where you level and /shout DING! Lvl 20! Waiting for some replies like "holy cow man, you are intense"

     I think the majority of us had this happen to us once (for the die hard mmorpg players that played more than 2 mmorpgs)

    Now, if they allow a OB>Retail, then that would put a big stinkin sock in that excitment. image

    I completly agree with you there Enigma, i always love those leveling contests, in CoH me and a group of friends were always pullin all nighters to out do eachother, thats one of the best parts of an MMORPG

    What I think is that they might do OB>Retail. Reason is because maybe Blizzard will feel sympathy for OB players because they only get to play 2- weeks and CB players got to play for over 3 months!::::27::

    For me its easy, they let OB chars go into Release, then I am not buying it. Its really bad polic. I want to buy a new game, not some old game where half has a headstart and spend 24/7 bragging how big they arre.. and of course, try to mess with the new guys..

    Beta is beta, not some damn award.

    Only game I wait for right now: Imperator.

    They might actually very well do that. If they are going to have their open beta around the same time eq2 goes out then they prolly feel its best for them to allow these players to keep their chars for retail, it will look like an early WoW release.

    I'm hoping they wipe.  I plan to start all the characters I want to keep upon purchasing the game.  Until then I'm just making the most hideous vertically challenged Alliance that I can in OB.  To whomever said they might do it as they feel sorry for people that didn't get into CB, I honestly doubt that.  Beta (closed or open) is beta and in my opinion, once it's time for retail, the slate needs to be cleaned.
