Ok so im on a mac and decided to partition my hardrive and install windows for games...
Game wise what should i do?
I have no idea what type of game to download...
I don't want to pay as i probably won't play it much just a few hours a week.
I usually LOVE playing good FPS games but im fussy! games like halo 2, call of duty 4, battlefield that kinda stuff... i do prefer the realistic ones though.
I haven't actually ever played a big RPG game. i used to play Tibia years ago and really loved it for a few weeks of playing but then got bored but i used to always get back into it...
So im really not sure what is good for me and what isnt....
any ideas?

Buy Guildwars, it costs like a normal game and have no monthly fees.
The free games usually suck. Anarchy online is free if you don't play the expansions but it is kinda old.
Only other free game worth trying is Runes of magic, it is not great but no bad either.
Im not a fan of paying though.. because from my history i usualy play a game for a bit then get bored... so i would need a really good game! or one that i dont have to pay for
Im looking at the game list now and Atlantica online seems to have the highest Rate/Hype? anyone played it?

Just wondering if you've tried this for running windows games on mac?
Really if you're a fan of FPS theres nothing for you.
Tabula Rasa is more shooter like but is closing soon, I think it is free now though?
Planetside you have to pay for and it's dead.
Theres a list of free mmorpgs as a stickey on this forum but I warn you free mmorpgs suck.
Your best bet is to play the World of Warcraft free trial because thats the most popular mmorpg that people new to the genre really like and you never know it might get you into the whole mmorpg thing.
All new games go to the top of the list and it only has 300 odd votes so when it gets another few thousand like the rest of the mmorpgs then it'll go way down lol.
If you're an FPS fan then Age of conan might take your fancy too because the combat is more engaging than other mmorpgs and the graphics are all pretty and nice. Though you have to pay for it and the only way to get a trial is through a buddy key I think so you'll ahve to ask for one on the forums.
Guild Wars and City of Heroes attracts alot of non mmorpg fans too, but again you'l have to pay
Try Shadowbane, free to download and play. If you don't like it, you've lost nothing.
"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience"

Ok cheers for the help!
Hmm so its probably best to go through a certain amount of MMORPG's and look at each one myself and decide which one i think looks more like my thing?
all of nexons games are free too so don't worry about it costing anything.

A word of advice would be to never judge a game based on a rating. Check out reviews that state facts and doesn't hold an opinion. As for more information on Atlantica Online you can check out this review : Small review... If you give more information on what type of RPG you like i can suggest something else.
If you're looking for a F2P realistic MMOFPS check out this site: The Best Free FPS - Shooter - MMOFPS list

A work in progress: (Update: 08/09/10)Easily find your favorite type of MMO
I don't think you'll find an mmorpg that you like through what you normally like or what other people tell you to like. the problem with what this genre has to offer you for what you normally like is they arn't very good.
The best the genre has to offer though, you will have to pay.
Age of Conan.
Theres alot of haters on these forums but the truth is that it is a well polished fun mmorpg and the combat is something that will probably speak to you as it is more action/skill based than other mmorpgs. If you go to it's forum I'm sure you can get someone to give you a buddy key to play the trial.

EVE Online.
It is the best sci-fi mmorpgs but I doubt you'll like it as it is so slow and you don't have an avatar in it.
www.eve-online.com/ free trial
Everquest 2.
It's a pretty generic Fantasy mmorpg but offers alot of really kool things.
http://everquest2.station.sony.com/ free trial
Lord of the rings Online.
It's another Everquest/world of Warcraft like fantasy mmorpg but if you like Lord of the Rings you should try it.
http://www.lotro-europe.com/ free trial only on EU site
Star Wars Galaxies.
If you're new to mmorpgs you wont care about the changes that happened to it and worth a try. If you like Star Wars you should try it and the combat system might appeal to you more.
http://starwarsgalaxies.station.sony.com/players/index.vm Free Trial
Warhammer Online.
It's like World of Warcraft but more PVP fouces... though theres no free trial.

World of Warcraft.
The most popular mmorpg ever made and it's also the one you'll most likely like.
http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/splash-wrathlaunch2.htm Free Trial
Guild Wars.
No monthly fee but it is all instanced up and it's point and click.
http://www.guildwars.com/
This is a list of what the best the genre has to offer and I wouldn't recommend any free to play mmorpgs.
Id go with Guild Wars, and its not point and click only you can move wtih wasd. Im actually playing that right now cuz I don't feel like paying for any games at the moment. I was playing FFXI but once again that just takes up way to much of my time.
Not to flame but, Ive always heard that Mac is better for music stuff but I never saw a difference with using the same programs on a mac vs. pc. I use Ableton live for all my recording and editing and making beats and soon live performances i hope. It runs like a dream and Ive never had any problems with it at all on a PC. I just bought a computer and it cost me 600 to build if I would have bought the same computer but as a mac it would have cost me upwards of 1.5k or more for the same specs.
IMHO Macs are just to pricy, a PC can do anything a mac can do and more, like play all the latest games. But I still use linux for some fun stuff as well, but to each their own.
Good luck with finding a game you like.
