Eh. Not sure what you'd like. EQ2 is a bust at this point. It had some great features. With EoF, it looked like it was really making a turnaround. Now, though? With microtrans and all? Screw it. There's Vanguard if you're desparate. It has improved somewhat, but it's still Vanguard. If you want PvP, I'd honestly just leave the MMORPG genre for now.
If you want PvP with pretty much no PvE go guild wars.
if you want PvE with a side of PvP got Lord of the Rings
Hold on Snow Leopard, imma let you finish, but Windows had one of the best operating systems of all time.
If the Powerball lottery was like Lotro, nobody would win for 2 years, and then everyone in Nebraska would win on the same day. And then Nebraska would get nerfed.-pinkwood lotro fourms
AMD 4800 2.4ghz-3GB RAM 533mhz-EVGA 9500GT 512mb-320gb HD
Guild Wars has quite a lot of PvE; indeed, with the focus on content rather than grinding, it's better PvE than most MMORPGs have. The PvP and PvE sides of Guild Wars are kept pretty separate, though.
It all depends on what kind of games you like. If you want something similar to Wow you can try LOTRO, EQ2 or AoC. The free MMO Runes of magic is also worth a look.
If you want something different try Eve, Guildwars or DDO.Guildwars have no monthly fees but costs like a regular game to play, it is made by the original main programmer from Wow.
Otherwise you can also try Spellborn out, the start area is free to play.
What type of gameplay do you like? Graphics style? Do you like PvE or PvP? A little info on your tastes would go a long way to aid more tailored responses.
Is EQ (EverQuest) still running out there, some where?
I played that game for close to 8 yrs.. Loved it! It has both PvP and.. PvE servers.. plus a 'Original' server (is that what it is called?) to play on. It definately had its problems.. but - when has WoW not had problems in the last 4yrs?
If I was you I'd wait for the next batch of MMOs to come out (Darkfall, Aion, etc).
Aion sounds reasonably solid atm, but then again AoC and WAR sounded solid too... so I really don't know anymore /shrug.
If your keen to give an MMO a shot right now I hear EvE has a free trial going, It's an excellent game but difficult to get into, you either love it or hate it. I couldn't get into it, wasn't my type of game.
Definitely give AoC and WAR a miss. I've played both and can tell you that they are certainly not worth it, not at this stage anyway (and probably not ever). Don't let any fanboi tempt you on these.
hmm if you like a new game to play maybe you cna try atlantica online help me test it i just downloaded it last night and it seems awesome. btw my character name is Oracle on mycenae server.
Best MMO I ever play. It have interesting features and exciting classes. Only the PK system sucks since it allowed high levels to bully the low levels.

To try them is not a bad idea, some people do like them, just because they don't have the same taste as you doesn't mean that everyone who plays them are a fanboi. If the OP could get a free trial key here they are reallyy worth trying. Even if 75% don't like them or whatever there is still 25% OP do, and that is certanly good enough for me, particulary if he can get a free trial.

Sorry you're right, if there is a free trial available then there is no harm in trying, what I meant was that they are not worth purchasing without at least trying them.
Come play some WAR!! I too am an EX-WoW player (thank god) after 3 years i got sick of jumping around shatt and farming the same 3 herbs every night..
At first i was really nervous to play WAR but i can tell you its worth it as long as you dont roll on a dead serverand even if you do they will xfer your char for free to a more populated one. This game is really fantastic. Was gonna also suggest Mythos for FTP game but heh we all know how that went down =((
it seems that your really expereince many MMORPG's and still not getting the game tha fit your taste actually we have the same idea on what a game should be however most of the game are nearly contrast to what we like, hmm currently im on test of this new game atlantica if you like we cna test it, hmm btw i go for mycenae server.

City of Heroes is really unique and a good change of pace from WoW.
What are you looking for OP?
PvP (instanced, world?) or , PvE (Raids, small group dungeons?), a good crafting system, solo, group, do you like to explore?

Guys! I'm hopelessly lost in a mountain of mole hills! Them damn moles!

If you like PVE you should try LOTRO
and if PVP try Warhammer.

Guild Wars or Lotro would be your best bet for current games.
