Runescape (Like it or not, it is a sandbox and a pretty good one too in my opinion), Eternal Lands, A Tale in the Desert 4 (Just started and I wasn't impressed but it's still a pretty cool game in its own way), and Oblivion.

I'm still clinging to the rumor that Bethesda is working on making an Oblivion MMO .

WurmOnline is considerablly further down the "player controled environment" scale than EvE is.   Granted it loses bunches of ground in just about every other aspect.

I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.

    I'm currently playing:

Farcry 2 :  I probably won't come back to this game actually, unless I can find some mods that allow me to play the game the way i want to play it.... namely the ability to carry whatever guns I want to carry.  I mean, come on - how dumb was it of them to not allow you to do this?  I'm a hard gamer to please, and it's idiotic crap like this that will completely ruin a game for me.

Fallout 3 :  Honestly, I don't even know why I got this game.  I think what happened, I was bored and out of desperation I bought into the hype, momentarily expecting a serious Mad Max type setting.  What I got, was exactly what I anticipated on getting - Oblivion with guns.  Personally, I thought Oblivion was WAY overrated, and its only saving grace was its graphics (which really did look great at the time.)  Fallout 3 is the same quirky mess Oblivion was, and I hate myself for not going with my gut.  Still, if push came to shove... I'll at least finish it simply because I don't have any other choice for an RPG element at the moment, and even though I'm not a HUGE fan... I could definitely do worse.

Call of Duty 4 :  Why 4?  Because I don't want to play another WWII game with 5, and the online Multiplayer just can't be beat.  I play this when I need to blow crap up.

Grad Theft Auto IV :  I'll probably be spending most of my time on this, but only because this game doesn't run so great on my PC.  I'm convinced (however) that even though I don't have the best machine on the market, that whoever ported this game could have done a LOT better job optimizing it.  Still, it runs well enough for my attentive enjoyment, and there seems to be a lot of content here.  So, I'm going to go full steam ahead with it.

Prince of Persia :  If all else fails, I'll go get this game because I know I'll like it.  I realise it is quite different from the other PoP's, but it's still got PoP written all over it.  I'm sure I'll like this game, so I may buy it come January.

As far as anything else... I'm not really interested in any of the upcoming MMO's.  I haven't played an MMO since I quit Age of Conan back in... whatever month it was released.  Earthrise looks neat, but not enough for me to keep tabs on it.  The only MMO I'm even remotely interested in is SWTOR, but it's still years away from release, I presume.  Maybe the lack of any interesting games on the horizon is a good thing.  I need to not be distracted for a while so I can get my shit together and figure out how I'm going to imporve my lifestyle and my future :P

Maybe it's time I no longer consider myself a gamer, and start putting more attention on things that matter for a change - like getting a good job and raising a family.

SQO its got everything i need sci-fi avatar instead of a ship intersteller starships open world ship to ship PVP with no safe zones open world full loot player to player PVP with only 3 safe zones but those are so far apart and few enough to not matter

    no "zones"
    an actual sandbox
    devs that are great

and all that other good stuff
and only a few draw backs

Right now Im playing EVE Online and trying to finish up Fallout 3 on the first time thru still pretty much explored the entire map except the inner DC area done a lot of quests, very enjoyable, have the saint karma also, and just got done for the night stopped at escaping from Raven Rock where I just offed the Enclave President Eden (Computer AI) and blew up the installation, its a shame noone could make a MMO like this with group elements and the such and lot more areas to explore is what makes MMOs fun to begin with and this game has a lot to explore.

Dude.. I really hope you didn't just spoil Fallout 3 because that would be really really lame.

Just a thought on PoP, the animations and the story are cool, I really enjoy the way the game looks ( it's almost like playing a cartoonmovie/serie, but I hate the fact that it has terrible voice acting which completely destroys a part of the immersion, with this I mean the Prince and the Princes speak fluent English (American) which in the setting the game takes place sounds very strange, maybe they wanted to atract a much younger crowed with the game this time but to me I wished they had put some more effort into the voices of the maincharacters that to me should sound as if these people come from Persia and not from some Boston or what ever US country. Don't get me wrong the game is enjoyeble, but at the same time very repetitive as the scenery does change allot, the things you do are very limited, it's more a Themepark then ever, atleast in my opinion.

From the games you listed I have them all and PoP serves the last place, well actually Red Alert 3 as I still am wondering what I was thinking at buying that game. To me RA3 is the biggest disapointment of pc gaming this year, apart from most current released MMO that also have not done me any good.

And like I said earlier in this topic GTA 4 will consume most of my time this month.

Playing LotRO, not because it is in the least sandboxish, but just to chill out with some friends and enjoy the sights and landscape of Moria.

I might get briefly sucked back into EVE to help some old mates out with the Alliance Tournament again, but I won't stay; can't really stand where the game is at and think CCP has abandoned the sandbox in favor of spoon fed dev-driven content.

I'll check out Darkfall when it launches but I am expecting to be massively disappointed and will be waiting for Empire:Total War after that...

Vanguard, the only open sandbox mmo out there. Before you say anythng negative about it, go and try it before bashing on it. I was there on release day so I know how it used to be. Night and day difference now.

I honestly believe if they changed the name, reboxed it, and advertised it as a new game, many people would come. And many would stay.

I'm playing EVE trial right now, can't believe I never tried this game before, I'm hooked!  So complex.  Awaiting DFO in hopes it's not another Dark and Light deal.  We shall see.  Also keeping my eye close on the above mentioned SWG project.

I'm not really playing anything MMO related atm.

I've tried to go back to a few MMO's or try some that I hear about just.. not catching me.

Well I still have my Eve account going but I don't really "play" that much atm.

    Anyway.. /wait

Shadowbane. There are more ways to make a character than any other game. Plus the open pvp and city building and sieging are fun

Playing Shadowbane as well. Till DFO comes out.

I'm on a MMO hiatus, playing SP's that fall in my lap, and just keicking time as it pass by.

Since so far, I've not found a new home after SWG.... Hopefully the duckling can change that when it's done.

Otherwise, I'll be waiting for Fallen Earth, since its setting appeal to me and it's not the usual run of the grind mill game.
