Is the sequel EQ on steroids or did they come up with something new?

Any of you who beta test EQ2 who can enlighten me? Im not sure, but from the movies I watch it looks like a general MMORPG more or less.

But it's impossible to judge from movies / screenshots - which is why I ask here. ::::01::

from what i've read/heard (i havnt tested the game for myself) it isnt just "EQ on steroids" but is rather a new game of its own...

im thinking kind of in the sense of Lineage/Lineage 2... they have core simularities (such as mass sieges, boss raids, and emphesis on "clans"), but for the most part they are completely different games...

whether or not this is a good or bad thing... well, thats hard to say... i think it's 50/50 really...

Considering the experience Ever Quest team does have... not to even mention the resources (aargh, I cant even begin to imagine the work and $ they put into it) ...I will have my hopse up for something new and exciting.

I never played the original EQ much, only once borrowed a Trial CD from a friend. I wonder if that will make me miss out on the background story of EQ2. ::::37::

Well, since I have no experience with EQ I dont really know myself but I think it is a misstake to push EQ2 away already. Of course they've changed alot of things. They couldnt possibly re-build the old EQ in a new game. It's already been done, there is nothing new to make a game about there.

From what Ive heard from a friend who played EQ from day 1 EQ2 has everything that EQ has, but it is also a completely new game. Everything that sucked in EQ has been corrected. Atleast that what he said.

Anyways, if you have played EQ a long time, and I guess you guys have, I can understand it is heard to accept such a major change. But still, even thou it is hard to have an objective view. Take it for what it is instead of comparing it to the old EQ. ::::24::

(If you wonder, I have no Idea why I am trying to change your opinion... ::::02::)

Everquest 2 is not a sequel to Everquest.  It was created to attract the thousands of people who didnt like Everquest, not to convert the thousands of people who enjoy Everquest.  Its a whole new game.  If you dont like it, dont play it.  And if you havent played it, theres no point in saying anything because your opinion is based on nothing.
