The dual class system?
You have to level your second class separately. So basically you have to level two characters for every one you make. Not only that, your second class does not get to complete the same quests so your forced to grind instead. This is a new super grind lol.
I never played WoW but they have a different starting area for each character right? that was a great idea for replayability. this game makes you play 1 area TWICE for each character lol. If you want 2 characters, that's 4 times going through the same content. This could kill the game for many people. well.... 'normal' people.
I was enjoying it until I found this out. Even though most quests are standard kill this many of that, there is interesting elements to this game. Little things.
You come across little bushes and things here and there that you can extract crafting materials from. Gave a little break from killing. Sometimes when you kill something a "buff" would drop and give you some type of advantage for a certain time. I had a house and I could move furniture around lol. You get these surprise mystery gift bags each level. You have a super powerful skill that takes like 10 minutes to recharge.
I would play this game but I don't want to level 2 characters in one through the same content. I don't even know how bad the grind is for one character let alone two. And you can't switch your second class. EVER. maybe with cash shop... they are adding 2 new classes so if you want one of those as your second class, tough luck start a new character. level him twice! lol. fun times.

I'm not exactly sure, but I think they developed the zone 'Sascilia Steppes' (Pardon my spelling), for some alternate quests for leveling. That's where I went to level up my secondary. The zone is huge and has a ton of quests from level one.
whats insane is that you cant level 2 classes without moaning.
Yea you can only do same quests once so when you flip the other class has to find new ones or grind but sheesh you get the basic skills from the class you just swapped to be used with the new classes skills so you are more powerfull and lvling is easier..
what do you want someone to level for you and you sit back and do nothing in a game?. its pretty easy to level anyway , you should of tried eq in the begining, try one week a lvl at lvl 50 onwards and that was STILL FUN...
problem is these days some people want ti soooo easy that they dont even lvl they just log on and become uber.. heh so sad
Dual class system is an extremely cheap way to add "content" and "uniqueness" to classes, if I would decide, I would damn all games with dual classes , reborn systems and etc.
dude relax. I just don't want to play through the same content twice with 1 character. Is that so unreasonable?
guildwars dual class system was good but this one is just weird.
This is open beta. I'm pretty sure other people agree with you on the Runes of Magic forums so instead of just complaining how about you go there and suggest how they should go about the leveling for the second class. I mean that is what their Suggestions & Feedback forum is for.
You also don't have to choose a second class. I am an almost level 28 Priest and I haven't choosen one as I am waiting on the runedancer class. I might kill slightly slower, but the way I have my skills I never die if I get an add unlike some dps classes out there.
Also from what I have heard from guild mates is that there is a seperate area for leveling your secondary class in the beginning. Meaning what xraetherx said was correct. You get to pick your second class at level 10 so I am guessing that zone will allow you to get your second class to level 10 as well. After that you can level your secondary class with the 10 dailys they offer and the mob grind is actually pretty decent and I loathe mob grinding.

I'm just going by what more experienced members were saying on the forums over there. no one has mentioned anything about a new zone, even when I brought this up. These are senior members that are writing guides about second classes and they haven't even mentioned a whole new zone. makes everything I say irrelevant lol. I'll have to check it out for myself.
I could be wrong, but I think one of the NPCs in the class trainer area, in Vanares (sp?) city, ports you there after choosing your secondary class. I doubt you are automatically ported there which might be why some people have missed it. Sometimes for quests, like the Treasure hunt line, you either have to talk to the NPC again or someone in the area to see if there's any information you have missed.
Since I don't have a secondary class I have never been to that zone and through my leveling I have not come across that area which makes me think again that one of the npcs in that area ports you there.

Eh, there were some quests that didn't come up for me on my Primary that popped up on my Secondary so I had no trouble getting to lvl 10 on it. So far leveling in this game has been pretty easy, haven't had need to go to that other zone that's been mentioned.
I'm playng this game atm and leveling my other class in that other area. Yes it exists and its big.
I honestly can't blame anyone for not knowing about Sascilia Steppes. At some point though, you get two teleport skills. One to Logar, and one to this place called Reitfort or something. Reitfort teleports you directly to the beginner camp in the Steppes.
Through my time playing, I don't think I have talked to an NPC that mentions this zone, which may be why some people don't know about it. I do wish they would make it a bit more noticeable, so people don't lose interest in making new characters and playing the game longer. Then again, I could be wrong.
In any case though, in terms of as why this thread was created, I do agree for the most part. It is repetitive to say the least and it does get boring. Though as previously stated, it is still in beta. So there will probably be more features (new starting zones, races, etc.) to come. At least I hope. But, that should freshen things up a bit. (I hope).
I love the dual class system. It reminds me of FFXI, which is one of my favorite MMOs of all time. My only wish is that they drop the dual class system and allowed you to be any class with a single character, like in FFXI. I have no problem leveling 2 classes, as with FFXI I leveled...um...alot of classes to 75 (all but blm and rdm, I hate magics hehe). And as posted, there's another zone you can go to in order to level your secondary.
guess I should have actually picked a second class before making this thread? lol.. I'm just level 9. very casual player. I'll check out this new zone, see how it goes.
One thing. I know nothing about these new classes coming out. I wonder if one of them will be better for a scout primary than what's available now? since there's no way to change my decision once I make it. ahh the mysteries of life.
I think the dual class system in this game will make it interesting in pvp and endgame. But hey, it won't be for everyone. You don't like it, don't play it.
No information has been released on the new classes coming out that I know of. I imagine the druid will have a little bit of healing, but not as good as the priest with some fairly good dps abilities. For the runedancer I imagine some type of crowd control/charmer class.
If you're looking for more dps the best combo for a scout currently is a rogue.

I am liking most of the game already. It's a bit tedious, but I am gonna stick it out and get both leveled up. It would be nice to see your quest exp be counted on both primary and secondary classes perhaps, but regular kill exp goes towards your main, or something like that.

The gay thing about dual class is that you can't use your other classes' gear like a knight switching to a priest
Everyone whose played FFXI knows how the system works and yes it's a pain in the butt but it also gives more versatility in the end.
I agree, this sucks big time. If i can use my 2ndary class skills WTF can't i use his armor as well. Wheres Kerensky?? Discuss this.
Guild Wars, which has arguably the best skills-based PvP, uses a dual-class system that works wonders. It is in no way cheap and adds layers upon layers to the game.
