Just an Opinion...

[Long Version]                                                                                                                                                                                    LotRO was looking great when i first started looking at it, i was saddened that the Trial Program was down for a while, and was aimlessly hoping that there was a way to try it without waiting for the Trial Program to come back, and i was happy to know there were buddy keys, well i posted for one yesterday, in the morning sometime, and still no one has offered me one, and so LotRO went down on my list,  they disabled forum registry on the LotRO site, and so i couldnt post there, again detering me from LotRO because i thought the developers didnt want tanyone to try their game, or to have access to get a buddy key, and now again im detered from LotRO whose community must now want any new players in the game, so i probaly wont be joining you LotRO players, like i said just my opinion on the situation.

[Short Version]

my conclusion is no one wants anyone else to join lotro because  the players arent doing anything to let ppl try the game, and neither are the devs

Sorry to hear that. But it seems to me that you should be kicking yourself for not taking advantage of the Free Trial Program when it was out, rather than kick the LOTRO community for your slow reactions to an offer.

People may be all out of trials ( I know I don't have any after resubbing to the game). Or maybe no one saw your post all the time it was up (since YESTERDAY morning) that had one. Either way, tough to blame the community for this one. Also, this is not the way to get one if you still wanted one. Trying to shame someone into doing something usually isn't too productive.

Here's to someone having a leftover for you, and hope your Christmas isn't ruined. :(

i was busy playing other games when the trial was up, them games got boring, i'd like to see not get bored of the same FPS everyday, and i just gained my interest in LotRO, and know my Xmas is not ruined, i can still look forward to getting AoC i guess.

Some games do not offer trials at all. Trials are not mandatory for games so it would be hard to argue that the company doesn't want anyone to play nor do the players. There are many logically reasons to why someone hasn't offered you are trial key as of yet. People could be not visiting the forums because of holiday activities, players may be out of keys at this time, etc.

Attempting to place blame on the players and the company for you not choosing to play a game is a bit irrational. I am sure LOTRO will offer a trial again you may want to watch out for those offers and you may want to give your request more time and someone may give you a trial key. You may hurt your chances of getting one though by posting something such as this. For the most part most LOTRO players are mature and nice people.

I sent you a key. I doubt you will turn that trial into a subscription, being that you seem to be from the "instant gratification" crowd.

    GL regardless...

Still, LOTRO should open up the free trials again, it ain't got so many players that it is anything but bad to not have a trial.

The community however really shouldn't be the ones offering this service, usually you give any buddy keys away fast to your buddys that ain't tried the game but the only really good use of a buddy key is so that the company ca give the recruiter a bonus, otherwise all MMOs should have free trials, it is in their best intrest that you try the game.

Well, OK, games like Guildwars with no monthly fees don't need free trials really or they could have it just a day or 2, they are already giving out a lot of service for very little cash.

Actually knived, I don't think you are a brat. I do think you are young given what you said. That is not an insult so don't take it that way. I know a lot of younger people think that it's the worse thing to be called but seriously, a 6 year old is a 6 year old, a 12 year old is a 12 year old a 18 year old is an 18 year old, etc and all the way on up.

As an older person (and I'm thinking that some on this thread are older) what you said doesn't come across as being reasonable unless one takes into account your age. Then it perfectly makes sense and seems more fitting.

Sometimes things just don't work out the way you want them to. Just because someone doesn't send you a key doesn't mean that they don't want people to join. I only send keys to "buddies" as I know that they will be used well. It's more than possible that others do the same.

Good Luck and I hope you enjoy it. - S

all im saying is i dont feel like wasting my time trying to get one so i went ahead and bought SoA, and back to your first post, i wouldnt leave grp if i didnt get the item i wanted or it dropped and someone else got it, im coming from WoW which alot of times that happened to me, for instance i was in an instance where i was tanking, and a weapon clearly for tanking, added 100 armor, 25 defense, and 40 block, dropped i needed it, so did this rogue which was dpsing, and he won it, sure i was mad as hell, but i didnt leave the grp tankless.

I guess you are right. Because the population of lotro still arising. Perhaps they don't want to have crowdy server. And there are many lifetime players supporting the game. If there will be next expansion, you'd also think it might be even more crowdy.

BTW, many kinships already stop recruiting new member or some kinships must have least 3 alts to join.

wow thats kind of odd. I joined my current kin right out of the starter zone. I did havea friend who was well liked in the guild but they also seem to open recruit. They have also sent me stuff without me ever asking. One LM has supplied me with staffs, while another memeber has kept me up with other things.

Hold on Snow Leopard, imma let you finish, but Windows had one of the best operating systems of all time.

Hmm, strange, there are many posts on offical forum from well established kinships that recruit new players. Atleast on Eldar.

But do admit that our kin is open only to some of the classes.

There are plenty of kinships recruiting. Go to the official forums and then to the kinship area for your server.

As the leader of a kinship i can tell you they are recruiting. well on the elendilmir server they are anyway. My kinship has open recruitment and takes all classes, lvls, and races. We are a crafting kinship so we don't limit the classes or looking for certain classes.

As far as alts go. most kinship have more room on the roster than they have members and allow alts in the kinship. I know my kinship is that way. We can have 1300+ on our roster and will never fill that roster. I would never want my kin that big anyway. The bigger the kinship is the more headache it becomes.
