Which Free 2 play mmorpg Do you keep installed on your machine?

Calintz333Calintz333 Member UncommonPosts: 1,193

Are you guilty of having a Free 2 play mmorpg in your machine?

Do you need to get your mindless grind fix on somewhere other than Dynasty warriors games?

Which Free 2 play mmorpgs do you have installed on your machine

For me Its just Guild wars Requiem bloodymare and Exteel, I only play Guild wars and sometimes Exteel.

The only other games on my Machine are The witcher & FFXI.

I know the poll does not cover all F2P mmorpgs, But I tried to put the ones that have gotten the most hype or highest Ratings on this site.

I voed for Runes of Magic, but I also have Perfect World International, Rising Force (RF) Online,  and 4Story installed. These are some of the best free to play games ever in my opinion. Plus I got the Fallen Earth Alpha installed as well. Haven't had a lot of money lately, so I've been playing free to play games and/or betas.

Earlier this year I was paying and playing  Star Wars Galaxies and Age of Conan. Not all at the same time though. Stopped SWG to try AoC, then the economy hit me lol. I hope to return to either SWG or AoC in the new year. They're two of my all-time favorite pay to play MMORPGs, AoC for Conan and its combat system and SWG because its Star Wars and it was the game that got me into MMOs.

Didn't even know what an MMO was before SWG. Found out about it by reading an article entitled "I wanna be a Wookiee". I've always been a Chewbacca the Wookiee  fan, so that sounded sweet to me. SWG been on my PCs since the summer of 2004 and I won't uninstall it until Star Wars: The Old Republic comes out.

When we get back from where we are going, we will return to where we were. I know people there!

I voted for Atlantica Online, since I seem to play that the most for now.  But I also have Guild Wars and Runes of Magic installed.  I have too much time on my hands and play too much in order to just play one MMO lol

I have Perfect World, Mabinogi, DOMO, and MegaTen. My excuse is I write for an MMORPG website. However the only one I actually play on a regular basis is the last one. I'm not a big fan of perfect world*WoW clone* or Mabinogi. DOMO is just...quirky/silly enough to be played occasionally for laughs. Apparently a lot of people here like Atlantica Online..might need to check that out.

Guild Wars really isn't a free to play game, since it's not free, you have to buy it.

But I actually play quite a bit of Sword of the New World. Damned if I know why, exactly, other than I guess it does the grinding while I do other stuff. More games should have automated combat, I guess.

Yes it is. Just because you have to pay upfront for the client doesnt make it not F2P. I'll correct it for you however.

    GW is not an MMO.

Bans a perma, but so are sigs in necro posts.

    None.

I tried many, but none of them is worth taking space in my hard disk.

They usually not that original and quite limited, they also are not really free, they have an item mall, and to be honest I would never play a game which has item malls, it defeat the point of playing an RPG.

I very much prefer paying for quality games.

I have Ace on Line installed, which I've been playing while waiting for DF to be release. Also, it's something different from the fantasy genre.

I have had many F2P MMOs come and go on my computer but the only one that has stayed since I installed it way back when it first hit open beta is Voyage Century Online. It's the only one that really offers something different. When I get bored I'll log in for a bit and go to a battleground to sink some pirates or go do some collecting for one craft or another. It's a good little diversion as long as you don't get too into it. Play it casually and it can be a fun little game... play it seriously and it's a money eating grindfest.

Neither Guild Wars or 2nd Life are MMO's so your list is flawed.

You obviously have not tried Perfect World since it is not on the list.  You should give it a try, it is far better than Atlantica or many of the others you have listed.

I don't have any F2P MMOs installed anymore, because I always quit them soon after trying.

  • avneetavneet Member Posts: 68

Entropia Universe. But their P2P side has made me never play it. It may be free to play, but they got so greedy it's not worth it because even if you pay, you loose it in a day =P

I noticed Ragnarok on your poll, Is Ragnarok F2P again, or are you talking about a private server?

They have a free to play server called Valkyrie. It sucks more or less :-p

And yeah, this is IRo we are talking about.

Still, better to subscribe than play on the free shard.

    2 Things

#1 Guild wars is not an mmorpg, alright even though it has way more community and population than 90% of mmorpgs could ever hope to have and it is a MASSIVE it is a MULTIPLAYER it is ONLINE and it is a ROLE PLAYING GAME. Ill buy this , because its not MASSIVE all the time, since its instenced, so ill live with it not being an mmorpg

#2 It is FREE 2 PLAY I even put PLAY in bold letters, PLAY meaining you can PLAY IT for free, Even though you have to pay Up front. That being said, most Free 2 play and free 2 download mmorpgs end up costing u more in the long run if you plan to stick with them and do the end game stuff than GW will ever cost.

Sword of the New World and Ragnarok Online remain installed on my PC. I also drop back into ArchLord from time to time, and I might give RF Online another go once it relaunches.

I have yet to try Runes of Magic though, Apparently it's actually pretty decent.

I have two atm: Atlantica and Perfect World......I'll most likely add Runes of Magic soon also...... I dont really have a problem with f2ps like so many of the forumites seem to........Ive played many p2ps and to me the f2ps arent that much worse........Games like WOW, LoTRO, EQ2, etc are fun for a short time but they get boring also and they cost too much for the value.......Id just as soon play for free and when I get bored I just move on to something else......

By this definition, LOTRO is free to play also, because you can purchase a lifetime subscription.

F2P means that you dont EVER have to pay. It could could also be argued that it also means you get acess to the whole game (so Pirates of the Carribean and The Chronicles of Spellborn are not F2P) not just limited acess, with the rest available upon payment.
