Well Alot of us have pre-orderd World Of Warcraft either the CE or the regular one well.. im one of those people but thinking about cancelling my order because if it takes 5-7 days to ship and other people can just go to the stores and buy them.. why am i pre-ordering them i guess to beat the rush to the stores before they are sold out but if i really want it i could just go there like a 12 am or somthing and wait till the shipment gets there even though i dont think there are many people in oklahoma racing to get their copy of WoW but u never know i might be wrong what do u all think.

Hafta spend the money at one point or another. May as well be know and guarentees you a copy when they arrive; no questions asked. Mainly for convienience I think.

I've never pre-ordered a game in my life... I got CoH the first day it was out there. Then again.. the hype on WoW and EQ2 are outrageous... And since I hate crowds, I may have to break down and pre-order!
And I feel your pain about wondering WHEN the game will arrive. :

Last week I asked a vendor at Futureshop: If I should come at futureshop on the day the game releases, or I should just pre-order it.
He told me it's a lot better If I preorder on futureshop website (I'm assuming any other company would be the same), instend of coming myself on release day, because the game is shiped at my home, at the same time it is shiped at their store.
So while people are sleeping in front of stores in their tent and sleeping bags to get WoW.. I get it shipped at home the same day with a pre-order.
I could be wrong but they should ship you the game so that it arrives around the same day it hits the shelves. The other option is to request an in store pickup that way you know you get it on day one.

well from what I understood about the vendor. The shipping delay is included. So if walmart says it hits de shelves on 23rd, you'll get your pre-order on 23rd. Cuz games aren't "spawning" into walmart shelves on release day. They come from some storage place.. or from the manufacturer I donno. ohwell.. I ain't sure about all that anyway... I'm still wondering if I should cancel my pre-order cuz I don't want to end up waiting a week after release to play, I'VE WAITED ENOUGH
and lol again about people camping.
I can't think of any game that was sold out at all stores in my area. If Futureshop sells out i'll go to BestBuy, if they are sold out I'll go to wallmart...and so on. Hell if all else fails maybe I'll liberate a couple thousand copies in a shipping truck. I can see me now speeding down the highway.. with a police convoy behind me... being the happiest I've ever been with my 10,000 copies of WOW.... Man I got to get a life. ( or get into OB soon )

I preordered my copy of the CE and will be sitting on EBGames' doorstep on release day. This is the first game I've ever preordered so I cannot offer any new insights to shippments, delivery times and the such.
Dude, it's simple.
1. You go to your local Gamestop, EB, blabberjab, whatever; you throw down $5 on the game as a "pre-order".
2. Take home the empty box with a lame Warcraft novel inside and read if you absolutely must.
3. Troll any and all forums, growing increasingly more bitter and jaded with each passing day. Flame the hell out of anyone who disagrees with your release date.
4. Have a few beers cos you're getting way too uptight over this.
5. Gamestop is supposed to call you the day before they receive the game. Not sure if they actually do or not, a safe bet is to check WoW website and find out when that date is.
6. Show up at Gamestop with your receipt and pick up your reserved copy of the game. That's right, that's why it's called pre-ordering. You're ordering a reserved copy for yourself on the release date.
7. Go home, have more beer to celebrate your good fortune and commence with the ass-whooping goodness.

This is pretty much a surefire way to weather the storms of blatting knaves who were less insightful than you were and can be modified to work for just about any other game ever.

Don't preorder except through a local store. I did that with CoH and everyone was playing two days before me. I have 5 bucks down on copy of WoW at my local Gamestop, and they are pretty good about calling. Besides, I just drive over there that same day and pick it up.
Game till you bleed, but don't cut anyone.

I preordered when Gamestop, and EBgames had FREE NEXT day shipping. ANd it will ship the day befor release and I should have the game, bye the time I get home on Opening day. Thats the way Shadowbane worked, and CoH. So I am left to assume this will be the same.
Otto_Manic Says it best, but yes, you should reserve a copy of the game. Like he said, go down to your local GameStop, plop down 5 bucks, get your receipt. On the day it comes out, they call you, or the day before, whatever and you go down there and your guarenteed a copy.. Note the words.. Guarenteed a copy...
I have marched my happy butt content on recieving a copy of Doom 3 ( dont ask ) and The sims 2 ( again, dont ask ) and finding out they are both sold out. Yes, I wasnt really mad about the games, but while waiting for WoW you get desperate ( by the way, Doom 3 was cool for about 4 days ).
They did recieve more copies of the game in the following week, but we need to take into accout on what game were buyint here... not EQII.. lol god forbid...... Were not talking even talking doom 3 or Half Life 2 or.. yes... I'm saying it... Halo 2 ( For the console lovers out there ) Im talking World of Warcraft by Blizzard Entertainment. That is a must for pre-ordering the game! So, If you really want to play it the day it comes out, cause you know its gonna sell out its first day, than pre-order the game!

World of Warcraft will be the first game I have ever preordered. Just because this is my first MMORPG that I have followed for an extended amount of time. I am really excited about the game, and that's about the only reason I am preordering the game.
Meh, I'm never gonna pre order a game.
I'll just walts on down to Futureshop, see the 1,000 copies of the game they have left out of the 10,000 they had that morning, grab it and check out. If that store did well, and sold all their copies, all walk down the sidewalk to the next store. If that store is sold out too, I'll cross the street and check out the next store. It's a mall. If all 3 stores in there are sold out, I'll be so happy that I'm playing a game loaded with people, I'll just walts on down to Wal-mart which is down the street and pick up my game.
If Wal-mart is sold out,
I'll kill myself.
On a more serious note... picking up the game and paying for it in-store is part of the fun. Some sort of satisfaction after waiting for it for so long. I went into Wal-mart the other day and they had 200 copies of The Sims 2 on the shelf. I figure they'll get even more of WoW, or close to and just get one from there if all else fails, like I said.
