I just can't seem to get myself excited for 2009 and the new MMOs that will be coming out. I guess I've become somewhat cynical when it comes to the MMO industry over the last couple of years. Instead of looking forward to the new games, I find myself wondering what will be broken / missing / etc. from them.
I really REALLY hope 2009 snaps me out of it with some great games, but I am not getting my hopes up. Ugh.

well thats quite good outlook in this coming year well many new games in a different genre will come out and there will be lost of some games that is left behind the qualifications of the gamers, many player now sought for best game for them not to waste time testing and leveling their character in non popular game just to test it however im looking forward also to the most promising game that will come out.
Love the new year spirit, lets hope some good MMO'S can make it worth the wait and while waiting lets say good bye to others. i hope that this new year keep us loving our computers because to tell you the truth im think of getting an PS3.
A weapon doesnt make a Warrior Legendary, Is the warrior who makes the weapon.
I get excited about 2009 because GW2 should be coming out then. I don't fear that GW2 will launch as bad as the big IP's did this year. I hope I don't become a blind fanboy if there are issues, but that could be the game to do it.
Also I look forward to see the launch of Aion and DF. Seems Aion wont be a issue it might just be a play style I wont agree with. However, I am a bit worried about DF even thought thats the game that could absorb me right into it.

Hello my old friend.
Every year people get excited saying the next year will be the best but it usually never is, this year isn't different BUT I am always hoping. This year's hopefuls: Aion, Darkfall, Guild Wars 2 for me.

I can see the OP's point; 2008 was supposed to be the year that AoC and WAR exploded onto the gaming scene and heralded in a whole new era of MMO gaming. Sadly, AoC popped like a damp squib and WAR landed in the RvR niche and neither made a huge impact.
Not sure what's scheduled to come out in 2009; a couple of my friends are raging about Aion, (which I will undoubtably try out) and there are rumours that the new KOTOR based Star Wars MMO will come out in Q4, though the last I heard it might have microtransactions.
Wait and see, I suppose.
