I say remove caps alltogether, there should be NO end.
Just as long as you keep a "practical" top lvl, were really the contents end and you are "uber", but you should be able to progress after that, indefinetly. Sure this would in the end create demigod type players, but make them epic lvls silly, like if the last lvl took an insane hardcore gamer one week, (or whatever), then make the first epic lvl take 5 or 10 weeks and raise the XP curve madly after that. But please dont make us STOP at one point.

AC2 is capped at level 150 but supposedly it is impossible to reach or near impossible to reach. After two years the highest person is only in the 70's (could be 80's by now, not 100% sure.)
AC1 is capped at 126 now and it is semi-easily reached with 4.2 billion xp. It's not much of an accomplishment anymore. With the expansion pack though, they are raising the cap to 275 which takes about 191 billion xp to reach (equal to about 45 level 126's).
AC2 just recently raised the cap to 150 and there are plenty of people above 80 because when I quit shortly after they raised the cap people are already hitting 80s.
AC1 has been around so long that there is so much high end content that makes it easier to level now.
Originally posted by opie Who said anything about accomplishment. Its no less work to raise individual skills. The only difference between the two is:a) skills gives you way more flexibility b) takes more effort to describe / compare your character to othersClass only limit character development and diversity, not encourage it. I worked real hard on my skills in UO and I did have a feeling of great accomplishment.
You have never played AC1 have you?
I agree that games need to remove anything that ends the game (ie levels) because the levels are just an ending for some players. I play MMOs to have a game that never ends.

I am in favor of no levels at all, nor any classes, but i don't want xp and a skill tree, I think everything should become better through practice, so if you thrust alot with your sword you get good at thrusting, use fireball alot you get good a fireball, pretty simple concept but it would have to take tons of practice to get really good at something
Don't you worry little buddy. You're dealing with a man of honor. However, honor requires a higher percentage of profit
Though graphically dated, Rubies of Eventide's skill/leveling system is one of the best I've seen. You get experience for kills/quests/crafting etc, as well as a few development points you can put towards skills etc. So you might be level 10, but you can basically train anything you want during that time period if you have the points. Its also like "leveling inside a level" when you increase a skill, you dont have to get a level-up to gain new abilities, you can just get it through natural play. If a few MMORPG's adopted this idea, everyone would be alot better off, and unique, mind you.
Any in reply to Anofalye, 400 would probably take 5 years if they made grind the way it is today. Just think of leveling to 60 and it being 7 times as hard!
Games Played:DoAC, EQ, CoH, Lineage 2, Planetside, and Shadowbane. Games Playing:None:( Waiting For:WoW, EQII

However, with unlimited levels, there is no need for a hard grind, not that I would mind it at all myself, I cant ask for anything better then more stuff to earn, could be really grindy or fast, I will adapt.
Any limit is going to be an issue with me if I like the game enought.

A rebirth/remort option would be cool, with new classes/races once you reach a level cap.
