I hope so.
I am so tired of the new crop of MMOGs that allow you to carry hundreds of items including heavy weapons and armor. It's ridiculous.
Having weight limts that effect stamina or movement adds more complexity and strategy to the game because you have to balance the consequences and benefits of heavy armor vs light armor. You need to choose where to hunt based on how close you are to a place you can sell your loot or store it vs adventuring deeper into the wilderness for better loot.

Very early in development they said that you couldnt have several armors in your bags.

That would nice, but low possibility. If making it realistic you shouldnt fight with more then few items on you, try that in real, if you will have backpack with 20-30kg on your back i can guarantee i will see your head on floor. So only way out of it is making some animals who will care your loot/items. It isnt so hard to do( imo) but i dont believe in DF personally so i dont believe they will make something like this....
It has already been said that their will be "stamina" in the game and that there will be weight issues in the game that affect stamina.
It has also been stated that, yes, there will be animals that will be like pack mules, i.e. carry stuff for you, in the game.
If you run out of stamina, you can't move...can't swing your wep, etc. Now there will be potions to help you keep your stamina up but don't look for them to be earth shatteringly good as this game seems to be about keeping your wits about you and actually having to use your brain as your main weapon.
I can't remember the last mmo that I played where I couldn't just put my brain on auto pilot and still do as good as if I were actually thinking. I hope DF will be the one that forces me to think again.

EQ had this, it was epic. Well, it was normal back then, it looks epic now. This is how MMOs have evolved LOL.
in a full loot system, who in their right mind would want to have a full backpack.
This is something the programmer probably won't even have to code in.. common sense and a couple "omg, I can't believe I lost EVERYTHING' will keep players from packing their backpacks.
It would also mean you wouldn't lose everything in an even fight whether it be one on one or 20 on 20 as the enemy wouldn't have room for all your stuff (don't get me wrong, the guy with the best stuff gets ravaged so your point still stands in many respects).
Oddly, this kind of system would help crafters the most as they could carry huge loads of small ingredients around while those looting armor and such would get weighed down fast.
Having firm stamina/weight limits would help limit looting. Players would be limited to looting only what they could carry, which would force them to chose carefully, and leave lots of it behind.

I have walked 35 kilometers with around 25 kilo backpack + gun, ammo and so on. I am not that strong either but either you had a lousy backpack or you expect all MMO gamers to be extremly small and weak.
I also spent a day in a full 12th century armour (mostly chain armour though and it weighted about 20 kilo), that is worse, and fighting in it for more than 5 mins in a row is a real pain, particulary in the summer when it is hot outside.
Still, In EQ2 I had 900 pounds on my small swashie so I hope DF will be a tad more realistic.
To be honest, I have never like gamplay related arguments for the sake of "realism". Realism is a nice bonus, but gameplay should come first. Obvisously, having super-realistic weight limitations would be stupid. But I see no harm in moving closer to a more realistic approach. There's a lot of good gameplay mechanics that come into play, taking into consideration the rest of the game is designed around it. One thing that would be required is that more exotic loot is farther and farther away from storage/vendors. Another thing is soft-cap it, so that when it reaches a certain overload, your character get speed and/or stamina debuff.
A further idea could be to have the backpack reflect the shape of it. For example all items over a certain length would have to be tied to the exterior of the backpack. So weapons and armour have a strict cap. This might reduce PvP looting in a good way.
Hello there, adventurer!
The average person can carry a lot especially when it is loaded up right. Imagine someone who has to be in shape to stay alive and walks/rides everywhere. Realistic weight limits doesn't sound bad to me.
Sent me an email if you want me to mail you some pizza rolls.
Well considering that we will be carrying our mount in our "pocket"... I think the DarkFall Devs. have seen that gameplay does out-weigh realism.
I haven't heard for sure if boats and the "hover-crafts" are going to be "pocket" items as well, but it sounded like they would be from Tasos' looting comments he made.
So yes, there may be some "realism" in regards to weight, but they have decided to go with gameplay when the two are at odds with each other.
Otherwise we'd be forever running back and forth to the bank.

Lose will force players onto this steep learning curve. I look forward to helping a few of these players learn for themselves!
Realistic?
- I guess it kind of depends on what you mean by such. I do think that if they make it so that a player can'
t carry anymore than 1 or 2 full sets of unequipped armor / weps would be a superb design decision. I really don't think it matters how " realisitic " they keep it. I don't think it would matter to a player if the full set of armor weighed 900 or 90. It just matters that they keep the weight porportionate to the the max. weight.
It would be interesting if they added animals that you could use to carry tons of loot, but only if reduced that players movement speed.

I really dont understand this argument. It is to agree or deny mine?
I really dont say 25kilo is much, but it really restricts your movements speed, of course you can easily shot gun from now, is it hard to push trigger? But using swords, especially two handed or hammer who weigh god knows how much is pretty hard even without additional weight. And now imagine looting fully another players, i think he will have like 50kilo loot. So technicly only thing worth looting is money, potions, amulets or anything who almost doesnt have any weight.
As much as i remember Darkfall will have weight limits, but not realistic one. If i remember correctly it was said something around 5times as much as it would be realistic.
Mounts aren't going to be carried in your pocket. You simply have an item which summons them.
