there really isnt a best healer there are just better healers and the classes vary depending on whether your gonna heal in pvp or pve.

Playing: WoW and Guild wars faction.
waiting on: GW2 and next WoW expansion =)
played: flyff, diablo2, maplestory, dungeon runners, eudemons online, conquer online, runescape, decide online, perfect world, and atlantica.

like the guy above me says, it depends

for example the paladin has just about endless mana but it can't do burst healing like a priest

the druid for example is good when you have to move a lot cause he uses many healings over time

In the end, all 4 are good healers, it will all change again after the next buff/nerf anyway

In raid you take normally one of each and in 5 man dungeons it really doesn't matter, they are all easy, pvp is a different story

paladins atm are the worst healers in the game.

    Shamans are above them.

And priests and druids are on the top, but will drop a bit come the nerf in 3.0.8

But as it stands paladins are by far the worst healer.  Especially in heroics.

Ive been healed by pallys before in heroics and didnt find them bad by any means, in fact i had better experiences with pallys healing than other classes

Paladins are very good at single target/tank healing, which make them very good for 5 man heroics.  Beacon of Light helps a bit but druids and priests have instant aoe heals and will usually out heal paladins in raids because of it.  However, I know of many people that prefer a paladin healing the main tank because of the quick heals, almost endless mana and high crit heals.

Is a man not entitled to the herp of his derp?

Remember, I live in a world where juggalos and yugioh players are real things.

Depending on situation. For steady constant healing, druid is the best. For spike damage I would say Paladin. For AoE healing, maby priest, druid, or maby even Paladin in the upcoming patch? Shaman is also not bad for AoE chain heals.

Go with what you like best. Atm im playing a druid and enjoy it quite much.

The best healer is the person that enjoys his/hers class.

Do a little research on what differs between the classes in terms of skills and talents. When you get a fair picture of how each healing class is played then make a choice based on how you want to play your healer.

Worst healers is the ones that choose the fotm class and/or focus more time looking at the "healing meter" addon than trying to keep their team mates alive. "Healing meters" and strangers opinions on "who's the best healer" based on their past experience with random healers means absolute shit if you want to be a good healer.

All healing classes are doing just fine. They differ in execution, style and tactics of course, and therefor you will always get conflicting opinions on who's best when and where.

Again, find a class you like and try to become the best healer you can with the tools that class gives you.  And most important - embrace the shortcomings of you class and the situations that proves more difficult due to it.

Overcoming those obstacles will be the highlight of your gaming, otherwise - what's the reason for even playing a game?

Good luck with your choice and may your hard work keep your allies alive!

    /Fellow healer

There are 10 classes and 30 different talent trees, providing more than enough variation in terms of how you play your character. There are 4 classes capable of becoming a healer.

And the fact that there's much debate on who's the best healer between those 4 only proves that blizzard have done something right imo.

What is so great about having a lot of classes but still have one that is so obviously the best one? That sounds more like bad design in my book.

I play a tank, and I have run heroics with several healer types out there. When it really gets down to the nitty gritty of the fight I do like a priest to be there for all my healing needs.

I have nothing against any other class at all but so far the best overall healers I have run with are priests.

I assume priest are the most reliable class for healing heroics. It just takes abit more skill and dedication to be a good healer if you play other healing classes. I usually run heroics with my druid these days, and its very common if the tank is average geared to not let his HP drop below 60% health for the entire instance.

All it comes down to is, who is behind the healer.

If your gonna pvp i suggest doing pally or druids in bgs, shams are mostly dominant in arenas and for raids i suggest priests and pallys.

    rating: 1-5 5 is best

    bgs:

    pally: 5

    priest: 4

    druid:5

    sham: 4

    arena:

    sham:5

    preist: 4

    pally:4

    druid:4

    raids:

    priest : 5

    sham:4

    pally:4

    druids:4.5
