Martyrdom

DraenorDraenor Member UncommonPosts: 7,918

Seriously....I just rage quit from a game because I had 60 kills and the next guy down from me had 20....I had a two to one kill death ratio and got pissed off because literally everybody that I killed was sitting in a corner spraying bullets with a light machine gun...and upon killing them (while staring at a red cross on my screen, yay juggernoobs) I get to sprint away from their lifeless corpse...why?  Because they magically shat a grenade upon death...these men run around remarkably well for having grenades crammed up their anus' (ani?)

Okay, I had to rant....and i had to post it somewhere...yes, I get mad if my kill death is less than 3:1..I'm that much of a douche.

    LMAO!!!!

on a FPS, I'm lucky to have a .001 to 10 DEATH to being killed ratio.   actually I think the ratio is I die twenty times to 1 kill made....or worse.

My youngest likes to play team fortress 2 and he makes it look easy....I get on there and BAM, DEAD!  faster than Al Franken can steal his election!

call of duty 4...another example...  I take so long to spawn into a server, that by the time I pull up a scoped rifle ... BAM! DEAD!   faster than Bill Clinton can get up a skirt!!!!

seriously though... 3 to 1?  That's just being greedy! :P

I used to be concerned about my Kill/Death Ratio in CoD4. Especially my overall one. Unfortunately, after spending most my time on achievements, I'm somewhere around 400-500 behind on kills.

As for Martyrdom.... it pisses me off to no end as well, but I usually just consider people who use it to be complete idiots. Especially Snipers who should only ever be using Deep Impact and whichever Perk causes shots to do more damage.

I play CoD4 to relax strangely enough, and so I choose to ignore the K/D ratio and just make up little mini-games for myself if I am not concentrating on getting all the achievements/accomplishments.

It's a perk three slot, so deep impact is the one you're talking about, and that's the one that makes bullets penetrate deeper...Stopping power is perk 2 and causes more damage.

I'm torn on my third perk for sniping though...I see no need for iron lungs, yet I rarely shoot people through walls anyway when I'm sniping...I am also tempted to try out steady aim, which would make no scoping people a little bit easier...but I don't do taht often enough to justify using a perk slot on it either...in the end I usually wind up choosing Deep Impact...though how often it has helped me is up to speculation.

and yes, 3:1....I play nothing but team deathmatch and hardcore.

Well... I play very aggressive so martyrdom isn't really annoying me. Besides, I almost only play with promod now, so martyrdom and other noob stuff is not a problem now.

    Question:

As I read that post of yours and the subsequent one I get the feeling that you technically are sniping and therefore should be quite a ways away from people.  I'm confused as to how it's possible for a frag grenade to hit you out at 40 yards or more?

No required quests! And if I decide I want to be an assassin-cartographer-dancer-pastry chef who lives only to stalk and kill interior decorators, then that's who I want to be, even if it takes me four years to max all the skills and everyone else thinks I'm freaking nuts. -Madimorga-

No i don't snipe all that often actually, i tend to be a very run and gun type of player, which means that after every kill, I am listening for the "ting ting" sound of a grenade hitting the floor so that I know whether or not to run the hell away...about 90% of the time I end up running away.

It's funny too because these people would certainyl get more kills if they would switch to steady aim instead of martyrdom, thus eliminating any need for having martyrdom in the first place.

and to the post above me, no, it's not...it's not like I think CoD4 is a life or death matter, have you ever gotten annoyed while playing a game?  Of course you have, that's what this is, no different.

    Thanks for the explanation....

and Mike470 is just pulling your leg.

I was just pulling your leg

Although if you get mad when you do worse than a 3:1 ratio, one could only assume you're a serious player.  Also, being a serious player doesn't have to mean "life or death."

There is nothing wrong with being a serious player...I used to be a serious Halo 3 players but dropped it after awhile, although I used to get pretty damned frustrated.

I wouldn't call myself a "serious" player...I would just call myself a player who knows that he is better than breaking even in kills and deaths, and I get frustrated when I don't do what I know that I am capable of doing, ie, barely making 2:1 etc.

I'm just gonna throw this out there.

I think it's much more fun to be losing in an FPS than to be winning. I get some sort of an adrenaline rush when I run out of my hole screaming "allah ahk bar" and getting 1HKO'd with a sniper rifle.

  • DraenorDraenor Member UncommonPosts: 7,918

Ehh, I don't really mind losing, as long as my team isn't so bad that I have to deal with constant helicopters and air strikes.

and on an E-peen enlarging note...I was accused of cheating three separate times today...twice for having an "aim bot" and once for having a "wall hack"...the wall hack guy was particularly humorous...he threatened me by saying that he "had my IP and would be reporting me to 'the bobs' (clan who runs the server) and that I would be under observation."

Wow is cheating that rampant in these games? I fire up old Quakeworld from time to time and it still plays like it did in the old days, I rarely ever see any hacks/cheats.

Don't be terrorized! You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL!

No, it's not...People just like to make excuses when they are outplayed.  Every now and then I'll get killed by a guy whose connection is really bad and I can see him warping all over the map, and in those cases, I'll say something about his connection and ask him if he could find a server where his ping isn't so high (anything over 250ish and they start popping in and out of the level on my screen)

The only game that I've ever played online where there was blatant cheating going on was Starcraft, which had a lot of people map hacking for awhile..I had a few games of Warcraft 3 where there was some blatant map hacking as well, but nowhere near as many as Starcraft.

"Poopy pants" and "juggernoob" I hate with all my heart. Last stand isn't to bad expect when people shoot them, think they killed, then leave them to suprise the next person to enter the room. Non hardcore not so bad get time to react. Ill use last stand every one in awhile but martydom and juggernaught are just BS and Ill never touch them.

Hold on Snow Leopard, imma let you finish, but Windows had one of the best operating systems of all time.

If the Powerball lottery was like Lotro, nobody would win for 2 years, and then everyone in Nebraska would win on the same day.
And then Nebraska would get nerfed.-pinkwood lotro fourms

    Heheheeeheeee... Call of Duty 4.

For a guy like me who doesn't care much about being a good shot or having fun by fragging everyone, martyrdom is hilarious. I'm not saying it's always to my favor, but usually I'm just trying to piss people off ingame more than try to kill them.

    Death-pooping a grenade is hilarious.

That's called griefing, when you play a game and do something just to piss other people off...people like you make games less fun for the rest of us.

I wonder if it ever came down to 5 guys with martyrdom walking up to a guy and just standing next to him just to have that guy kill them all and all of them shit out a grenade and BOOM!...

Find a server with a rule set that you like, or adjust your strategy.

Can you just pop a frag instantly or do you have to cycle weapons?  I haven't played any of the CoD games.  If a person has to cycle weapons, that is no ones fualt but your own.

  • DraenorDraenor Member UncommonPosts: 7,918

You can just pop grenades at the push of a button, but that's not what martydom is...martydom is a perk that people can use that causes their character to drop a live grenade with a shortened fuse every time they are killed, they don't even need to do anything except die.

As far as server rule sets...I thought that I had found one with rules that I liked, but after a few games there I got accused of cheating and was subsequently banned from the server...for those curious, no, I wasn't cheating.
