Servers Europe/US

DarthrenoDarthreno Member UncommonPosts: 41

All right, this question has been posted before by others, but so far i couldn't find a satisfying answer. So here it is:

Being french living in US (sorry for that image), is it going to be possible for me to play with some friends in France/Europeans servers?

I know that the game will be distributed in local servers.

And i read that having a local bank account will be the condition to play in a region (american account for US, french account for France, etc). As a matter of fact, i have accounts on both countries, US and France.

So could it be possible to order a french box from France and play from US, if i register with my french account? image

I wish there would be a window at lauch, to choose the server zone, like for Diablo2 on Battlenet, but i don't think this will be the case image

if you have a billing address for your credit/debit card in france, you can create an account to play on european servers... you do not need to order the game from france, you can buy it in usa, the cd-key has nothin to do with your account ^_^

course if you want a french client of WoW you have to order it from france, and if you wanna play with your friends on a server in french i guess you will have to order the game from france.

but anyways yes, if you have a billing address for your debit/credit card in france you can play in the european servers.

Aaaah these are good news image

All i need is ability to play on same server than my friends in F. For language, actually i prefer to have english version image

But does it mean that on installation and registration there will be a window with a choice of servers? Or the fact to input my french account automatically send me to european servers?

Thanks for giving me hope, i owe you an ale in the Roasted Gnome Tavern image

How the hell would you know about that ?? They can ( and probably will!) ask your cdkey when registering your account!

berzerkblack yah sorry, i didnt make myself clear, what i meant was that the cd-key is used to open an account.....  doesnt affect if you have a french WoW cd-key, a german WoW cd-key, a usa WoW cd-key, for playin in different servers, what doest affect is the billing address your credit card has....

so to play on a european server, u need a french credit card billing address ^^ thats what i meant, i just didnt make myself clear ^^

english aint my first language so i do make mistakes ^^

Players who do not use a method of payment accepted in North America and who do not have a North American billing address will not be able to play on US servers.

From that it looks like they're going off billing addresses.  I believe they stated so in another thread but I dont feel like digging through the forums for it so for now that should be considered an evil rumor. image

That said they did say that after the versions released they'd be looking into a solution to allow you to play on other country servers if you so choose so that you can play with friends/guildmates who aren't on the same continent.

I still hate this idea. So what if it gets rid of a little lag? Many people(including myself) won't be able to play with their gaming buddies.

Quite a few people aren't fond of it.  There's some people I'd love to be playing with from other countries.  Eventually from what they've said, we'll be able to play with them.  It's going to be awhile after release though.  At least they didn't use "soon" image

lol I think its me who didn't make myself clear...They can easily generate US only cdkeys as well as European only cdkeys and CHECK them to be sure you got an US game when you create your account.

  • RichijefeRichijefe Member Posts: 142

oh thats what u mean, yah they can easily do that ^_^

not sure if they will though, i hope not, that would b kinda retarded hehe since they are already askin for a billin address, thats more than enough to keep the servers localized in my opinion ^^

cuz hard to get a billing address in usa(i live in europe), but would b easy to import a usa WoW here and get a cd-key hehe

but yah, im speculatin bout the cd-keys, since they have not released any info on that, i dont know if they will do that ^^

Yeah it's easy to swap keys (not that I have done this before.. *whistles) And it is easier for them to do it by billing addy and cc since they need that anyways.

My guild has already did the Euro/US split in preparation for this. (suckssuckssucks)  My question is, from what I read in the FAQs only the NA and Korean releases were confirmed for this year, anyone see anything different?

I wouldnt mind foreigners on US servers if and only if it was sooo against the rules to speak any non-english language. If I hear one "Bonjour" or "Oui oui!" I'm gonna flip out.

EDIT: Also you should have to be able to speak DECENT english.

Also, don't forget that about diffrent timezones. Many times you will be online maybe 3 pm your time. In france that can be maybe 11:00 pm or more/less (depending on where in the states you live). And also that if you live in the states and play on the european servers you will have a latency of maybe 350 ms or something instead of 20 to 50 wich is the normal latency if you play on the localized servers.

People that can only play 1am-5am or around there are going to get screwed, too. ::::21::

Thing is they could well allow UK players in the US as we talk well...english duh! But its all about their "performance" concern and all the bullshit :/  On a side note, I know quite alot of ppl (french/german) who don't even want to have the game translated ....Its all about money nowadays :( /shrugs

Well I dunno... maybe you should have to speak AMERICAN :-)

  • RichijefeRichijefe Member Posts: 142

Brambey what u goin on bout? american? there aitn a language called american.... there is the english language that has american, brittish, aussie dialects(probably some more i dont know bout).... nm that anyhow, u r a tard obviously ^_^

yah, the latency is definitly not a good reason for this localized servers, since i might get latency to us servers but its not that big and it doesnt affect gameplay much....

i mean its great with localized servers, but you should get to choose urself, if you wanna play on us servers, european servers, korean servers ^_^

Dood... I was joking. Dont be a tool.

But yeah I support localized servers. Not only do you hurt your own latency, but you make the entire server laggier. And guess what, as important as you are (sarcasm), we americans do not give a crap whether you want to play on our servers or not. You have your own servers, play on them. The only SLIGHTLY good reason to not use localized servers is for guilds that wanna play with their friends from around the world.

I, as am American... speak only english. And I do not want any rude europeans coming in and speaking some german crap in the general chat channel. So, my solution is this. Let anyone connect a special "WorldWide" server in great britain or something, in english... that anyone from around the world can play on and then all these guild idiots can go play there. Problem solved.

Also, you fail to provide any reason why you want to play on US servers. If you, a european, dont like playing with europeans... why would you expect the US (english-only speaking people who created WoW) to let europeans in?

  • RichijefeRichijefe Member Posts: 142

    whatever dude ^_^

oh im not goin to play on us servers, i was just sayin ppl should have a choice to play on em or not ^^ since the release dates arent the same in europe and in the us, its quite annoyin to wait for a game an extra 4 months.

well it might b annoyin when ppl talk other languages u dont understand but you should learn to b tolerant.... oh and europeans rnt usually rude, unlike americans ^_^

and the latency aint big if you play from europe to us east coast servers anyways.... but who would wanna play with idiots like u? ^^

i support localized servers as well, the lineage 2 us server were full of tards like u, so im happy to wait 4 months to play on the european servers ^^

oh and your worldwide server idea is lame, cheers image

    Hmm...

As an european living in US, i enjoy having easy access to some productions (movies, books, comics, games). But i also enjoy staying in touch with my country (France).

As i speak english fluently i don't have any problem with any "language barrier". But i often have some with some "cultural barrier", coming from some obnoxious narrow-minded bullies, like our orc, here, who apparently cannot stand anybody outside his building (his floor? his living-room?) or anything outside his little yankee world.

Come on, man, open your mind. There are other people out there, who don't necessary speak the same language than you or think like you. You seem to be proud to be american, fine, but you also seem to be proud to speak one and one only language. Didn't you learn anything in school?

About europeans being rude, i don't know, some of them are, of course. But we can see some americans being too. That is not a justification to generalize...

Once again, open your mind and your horizon...
