EloryckEloryck Member Posts: 7

Ok, as you know I am looking for an Ultima Online type game, but by that I mean it should have the following features:

- Craftable Items

- Great  Player Ecomony and the means to sell your items efficiently

- Player Killing

- Player Looting

- Player Houses (Customizable a bonus)

- The feeling that Players actually Impact the world around them

- Isometric View (eg Ultima Online, Diablo, Original Fallout)

- Ridable Mounts

- A Jail System

- On Character generation random bonus modifyers are added to make your character more unique

- Great Combat System.

- Great Community

anyhow you get the idea.  If you have any suggestions I would be more than happy to hear them.

thanks in advance

No game has effeciently mimicked Ultima Online for quite some time. The only game that will even come close imho is the upcoming game Darkfall. It'll have everything you said except overhead view like DIablo and Fallout. And i don't think there will be a jail system (there wasn't really one in UO i don't think? just a murder system) but Darkfall will have a murder system and i'm not sure what the on character screen generation thing you're talking about is.

    He beat me to it.

Mortal Online looks to be a more appropriate successor to UO.

Darkfall will be another Dark and Light, mark this quote and feel free to respond next month when/ IF it gets released (or at the end of 2010 when it really gets released)

Darkfall has a release date of Jan 22nd. People outside the dev are playing the game right now and say it's ready. I understand being skeptical of a game that's taken a while to release, but it's only 3 weeks away. I don't see that slipping to 2010.

Darkfall might not replace WoW, but I'd say it's going to find a niche for people that don't like simple MMO's. I'll take brutal and challenging over the mindless grind anyday.

isometric camera lets you look around without turning. I want a game where you can sneak up on someone, and have to pay attention. No zoom out and watch TV in perfect safety.

Great combat system?  The feeling that Players actually Impact the world around them?

I wouldn't say that was Ultima Online.

You want an isometric view? I think that is too limiting. Go 3D I say, more realistic.

I am still wondering why people like isometric view, it seems so dated and old, I mean i've been there and am glad games are moving away from that unrealistic view in games and go for a more realistic view especially in games where it is meant to play in a world and not some map/room or simpl isometric outside area. It was actually the one things that din't make UO that great of a game to me, as for me it was Star Wars Galaxies that had most of it right, except bug and issue's afcourse. Perhaps in my time I've played far to many of these isometric games that I simply want something else and different.

So would you mind explaining why people want isometric over first person view?

Oh and OP perhaps spend some time on forums like this and you will know there is no UO like game on the market other then UO itself. As so many people are waiting for something like UO but hopefully most don't want to to go back to that old isometric view and want more immersion in their playing field.

OP, you won't find a UO clone...as a poster already stated, nobody has truly copied UO, however i can list some games that have some of what you're looking for or that you might be intrested in:

Shadow Of Legend is probably your best bet, but i've never played it.

LOL I figured DF would be most players answer....It seems no matter the question Darkfall is the answer!.....Just like Aoc ws the answer, then War was teh answer, then <insert next overhyped MMO here> is the answer..........

Darkfall might fail, but I don't think it will. It won't replace WoW, but I think it'll find it's niche.

It's funny how many people are trashing Darkfall. I don't understand why people feel the need to put games down. What's your motivation to trash, does it replace your MMO as fun?

Darkfall has the features I want, even if you ignore FFA PvP. It has house/city/nation building, it has ships, it has swimming and massive underground cities. It has open dungeons without instancing, it has no perma invis, it has mounts.

It doesn't have levels and the grind that goes with it, it doesn't have classes and forced armor sets. It doesn't have Scenarios/bg's/arenas. It doesn't have massive world armor that shuts out crafters, it doesn't have floating names to give away players and NPC's.

If the game plays well at all, meaning few crashes, it's what I'm going to play, and I think a lot of players feel that way.
