As I have said before people. This game is about imersing the player in the darkfall universe. When you meet someone in the playing field are you not more inclined to talk with them rather than slay them and talk trash in the global chat? I think we will see more players than ever conversing. I know for one that standing around in warhammer or WOW hardly any player is standing there having a conversation. This brings a very unique and interesting aspect to the game.

Of course. Anyone who has ever played a real pvp game knows just how crapy a global chat would be. These idiots that want a global chat are just pve fans that want their mmos to be nothing more than single player rpgs with built-in chat boxes.

The quote wasn't quite clear, will there be a local(as in immediate proximity) chat? Or is there only going to be guild chat, group chat, and pm? If there will be a proximity chat, than I think thats fine. If not, then thats pretty dumb.
Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic
Played: SWG, Guild Wars, WoW
Playing: Eve Online, Counter-strike
Loved: Star Wars Galaxies
Waiting for: Earthrise, Guild Wars 2, anything sandbox.
What was said in the quote is that the only global chat channels will be /guild, /party and /pm. Nothing has been said about a lack of standart proximity chat channels.
There is a long post about global chat that is still being posted on...

Yes, and clearly that post has been going on about how negative the effects are.

No. Clearly, if you had read through it (i know this was hard since most of it was trash), many people have talked about both the positive and negative effects of global chat. Unfortunately, only a few posts seemed to really consider implications and effects of global chat in the context of the overall goal of DF and the other features it employs. That being said, those posts were insightful.
