Always been a big fan of D&D....is there any specific server that has a higher population than the rest?
Keep in mind that DDO is not 100% true to any version or ruleset of D&D, especially not AD&D which is what I was familar to, but it's closer to 3.5 rules then anything else. There's been quite a few, several controversial, alterations to the rules in order to assist with the playability of DDO. I don't mind the changes and alternate additions since I had often made slight modifications to the rules myself when playing AD&D.
A big part of what server to play has to do with your play style. Thelanis is a good all around server, Khyber is decent all around. Sarlona (my home) is a good casual server with a healthy mix of power gaming. Not too sure about Argonessen or Ghallanda.

Thanks for the heads up on the server info. I was pretty sure it would be a far stretch from the P&P version...but...with the different games of D&D out...(NeverwinterNights 1&2, Baldurs Gate, etc)....Its not bad...I like it. See you all in the depths of a dungeon!
What server did you choose? and post ya toon's name and so we can keep an eye out for ya!

I'm only on a trial version at the moment. Will probably upgrade though...I think the game play is really good. So far, I am running on the Thelanis and Khyber servers. My toon so far is Rholand Drakus, a ranger. Hope to see you all in a dungeon or two.
YES!!!! Another for Thelanis!!! I will keep an eye out for ya, butwith the holidays I am not playing too much. Hopefully I will betomorrow. Maybe the Festivalt Jester might drop you some nice junk!

Thelanis, he may change again I picked up a mentor the other night for some help. My origional cleric was not getting many groups, people said I was gimping myself by wasting my turns on undead and not to keep our nukers going, then said I had too low con and str yada yada. ;P
Name isnt set in stone yet, I reserved all the names I like to use that were not already used, cant decide if I want elf or human yet. ><

Make sure you have around (aleast) a 10 STR and CON. Turns for turning undead are a waste, but usethem for the enhancements Divine Cleansing, Divine Healing, and my favourite: Divine Vitality. Even at level 16 capped, my cleric is loved by most casters because I can give them their SP back.
Also, the enhancement line isn't just four items anymore. Check it out. CLerics have become the most powerful casting class in the game. I will be on today after 12 HST. I'll list my alts:
Trissa, Lanarissa, Allura, Riversong, Tnannet, Healbotatron, Roselyn, Scully all clerics.
THen I have Kleo nd Oncoming: casters.
Sousake, Keitherland, Caboose and Mulder: Pallys.
Johnsmith and Courwin: bards.
Kaname is a rogue.
Keatheran, Doomlord are Rangers

Im not min/maxing completely. Went elven cleric, going caster more then healbot, which so far has only made 1 group mad, the others have been pretty cool about it.
The great thing about caster clerics is that they spec out pretty much the same as a healbot, so you can switch your role in party as you like. My capped cleric throws alot of greater commands, banes, cometfalls, blade barriers, and then heals like mad woman. Makes it more challenging.
Mine heals mostly, but can cast some nasty offensive stuff if needed.

Yeah I still primarily heal, especially in pugs where everyone is everywhere. I did get a group earlier where they asked me to cast more then heals and kept themselves topped off between fights, it was pretty fun. Though they did open a door and one person in our group instantly died.

There's nothing worse then having someone expecting you to heal trivial damage in between encounters when they could easily drink a potion. Players who are self suffecient are instantly added to my friends list and I usually try to get one more quest in with them before the party disbands.

Its not so bad so long as its in moderation. When I see a person, lets say a sorcerer or mage, run out and pull tons of monsters then run around in circles flailing... then I have a problem.
I have had alot of people give me wands or tips to pay for my wand usage, and during elites I come out ahead more often then not on loot for the wands I expend.
no it isn't. A party should not expect topping off. THey should be glad of it. As for people who cannot handletheir own aggro...wait to you get up to level 7ish and witness Wall of Fire.
FYI, toku, an inviteto my guild is extended. It's there if you want it.
