Simple question about dying.

I haven't been following this game much, I just discovered it a few days ago. I haven't read much about it so I thought I would ask my question here. Reading about how this is mostly PvP, if you die, can someone loot you and will your stuff be gone forever? I realize the stuff in your bank is safe, but other than that, is the stuff gone for good? Thank you for your imput. Also, please let me know (in a kind way) that it has not been mentioned by the devs if it hasn't?

If you die , your gear can be taken by the one that killed you or just a lurking player waiting till the npc mobs kill you.
It is then gone till you ,if you ever find them in time, reclaim it from them.
What is in your bank is safe , always, there is also a system of grab bags ,where you can premake bags for quick acces out of your bank.

yeah it will be like oldschool runescape (or EvE), you never leave with stuff you can't afford to lose. And items are not the focus of this game, even if you get 1337 sword of chuck norris, you can't keep it in your bank forever, it will decay so you have to use it eventually (use it or lose it).
ITEMS DO make a difference in combat though (there needs to be stuff to fight for, and stuff for crafters to make), and there are a handful of super rare items that can't be destroyed (like wordstones or something) and the combination of all 16 does something crazy, i don't think the devs told us what will happen.

Corps runs. This was always the best design choice, and has proven to be popular and successful in modern games. Hopefully items mean litte, we shall see. But i doubt it.

Corpse run is for carebears, thats why wow have it:P
And for OP you always have your starter gear you wont lose that.
Games played:AC1-Darktide'99-2000-AC2-Darktide/dawnsong2003-2005,Lineage2-2005-2006 and now Darkfall-2009.....
In between WoW few months AoC few months and some f2p also all very short few weeks.

I also heard somewhere that you will keep a FEW (2 or 3) BASIC (noob) items upon death, kinda like runescape.

No, it's true that your basic noob items are always with you. At least, that's as stated on the DF website.
Wow this game is really going to suck then. You're gonna see a group of players taking all the ebst items in the game and will find it nearly impossible to ever stop them. If you think the server will band together and fight you are sadly mistaken. On RF Online, you will find that, even when one of the 3 races is dominating and the leaders of the other 2 try and ally together, that all the idiotic players still will fight each other and never work together. So have fun the first few weeks and then enjoy being the trophy corpse of the resident elite group.

he makes a point about RF... yeah I can see a scenario of elite gankers, and the rest of the server players being solo artist... the high lvls barely cared to help the anti-gank squads... lol yeah DF could turn out just like RF's community... 2% elite gankes and 98% cannon fodder LOL
Yea, full looting is very hard core. However I wager that if this game goes mega succesful, they will have some carebear server set up. Best thing to do, hunt in a pack

yes you lose every single thing
you can run back and pick up what wasnt taken because there is burden you cant just hold everything
just buy make or find new gear considering that gear isnt that hard to come by and isnt as importnant as other games
