LOL @ the guy who said warhammer delievered everything they promised, if you would've followed warhammer from ithe day it was announced to when mythic got ahold of it you would know the game did a complete 180 and even mythic left out player cities and all the stuff they originally promised.

Although I'm keeping my expectations somewhat low so that I don't get disappointed like I did with Warhammer (although I'm still enjoying Age of Conan, even though it sucked at launch), just because it's being made by a "new" company that isn't a gargantuan giant like Blizzard, doesn't mean it can't succeed and have a high subscription rate.

Sure it may fail, sure they may be over promising things that eventually will not be in at launch. But just as likely they may succeed, and they may deliver on what they promise on. Don't hate on them just because they don't get millions of developmental dollars a month like Blizzard and other MMO companies out there.

yeah I have a problem w/ the word "perfect"... i'll take "decent" game over that as well and decent to me meaning ... good/fun gameplay and combat mechanics and good graphics

Well from Gianna's reports and the posted beta quotes, I think they'd state otherwise. Of course, what your idea of "amateur" may be different then mine, but I find a company of only 30 developers to have done what those (who I mentioned previously) have stated to have done, seems far from amateur.
Now in terms of graphics, there's only so much you can do with so little money, and with the '08 screens they don't look nearly as bad as people seem to proclaim.
But again, I'm just as hestitant as you probably are with Darkfall, because it very well may fail. My biggest problem was simply with someone placing no hope at all or respect in a small company simply because they are that, small.

But people continued to get sucked into a home page anyway !! Two more things that I don't understand : 1) People getting sucked into dev. photo's and movie clips thinking their real time play, when their just art work and movies " Hay everyone did you see the new screen shots? " click on them and it's water color painting's. 2) Game delays........Some people view game launch delays as GOOD they have more time to work on bugs. Well you don't know at what stage of development the game is in. The game could be so far from development that they are just adding the houses !!! Why MMO's announce games years in advance is a mystery to me. Darkfall may or may not be good, but lets remember, remember, remember and don't put all your eggs in one basket and enjoy other games and the great out doors !

I agree, and while I don't place all hope in Darkfall, I do hope, with its list of features its definatly worth checking into.
Out of total curiosity, Does anyone know how many developers Mythic had when they developed DAoC? ( I should know, I played it for 6 years )

No one has forgotten but there are certain universal truths that cannot be ignored.
1. Bush won't be President forever.
2. WOW wont be on top forever , it toppled EQ and they topped UO its just that simple, it's coming so get used to it.
So one of the new games if not DF or Spellborn will take out WoW and of course Blizz will do like Sony and try to create the next WoW and fail terribly at it for 10 years cause everyone remembers what they did the last time.
WoW created the opportunity to beat them with lousy pvp Dev after the original lead Devs left.
Vanilla WoW wasn't bad at all now its a class balance nightmare.

Lol I'll be surprised if MO doesn't crash with 50 people on screen let alone 200. I doubt the U3 is made for a gigantic seamless world with everyone having 10 hitboxes, but, if it releases in 2010, then maybe by then it will run on low on midrange computers, who knows

Will the game crash ? Will have to wait and see what REAL TIME play is like and the point of this topic is that we will never know until:
1) release
2) open beta
3) beta leaks
I'm by far a programmer, but from what I understand from reading topics on this site it's all in the coding from the devs ( I think )..... New company........ maybe new coding.
WoW, Lotro,D&D to name a few can run on most any computer. Games like Everquest 2, and Tabula Rasa are much harder on computers with not much reason for it. Vanguard without much reason can't run on most anything.
Still the point is we can't count on the devs to tell us, as with all game web sites you only get FLUFF. We need to learn from players.

The very fact that this game ISN'T being overhyped or pushed into my face, gives me a lot of hope to how well the game is. If it sucked, they'd hype is as much as possible to get as many box sales as they can.
They obviously don't care about that. They don't care about the WoW playerbase, they don't care about huge cinematic movies, they're just making their dream game, and when its ready we'll see it.

Not so much sandobx fans as PVP FULL LOOT fans. I'm a sandbox fan, but not to keen on pvp and full loot. That's very niche.

LOL @ the guy who said warhammer delievered everything they promised, if you would've followed warhammer from ithe day it was announced to when mythic got ahold of it you would know the game did a complete 180 and even mythic left out player cities and all the stuff they originally promised.

Sure it may fail, sure they may be over promising things that eventually will not be in at launch. But just as likely they may succeed, and they may deliver on what they promise on. Don't hate on them just because they don't get millions of developmental dollars a month like Blizzard and other MMO companies out there.

Well from Gianna's reports and the posted beta quotes, I think they'd state otherwise. Of course, what your idea of "amateur" may be different then mine, but I find a company of only 30 developers to have done what those (who I mentioned previously) have stated to have done, seems far from amateur.
Now in terms of graphics, there's only so much you can do with so little money, and with the '08 screens they don't look nearly as bad as people seem to proclaim.
But again, I'm just as hestitant as you probably are with Darkfall, because it very well may fail. My biggest problem was simply with someone placing no hope at all or respect in a small company simply because they are that, small.
So you wanne say i should leave and play some others games untill its released lol, who are you to dictate what i should do i have np with following this game for years and if it comes ill buy it blind, not even know if it succeed.

I agree, and while I don't place all hope in Darkfall, I do hope, with its list of features its definatly worth checking into.
Out of total curiosity, Does anyone know how many developers Mythic had when they developed DAoC? ( I should know, I played it for 6 years )

No one has forgotten but there are certain universal truths that cannot be ignored.
1. Bush won't be President forever.
2. WOW wont be on top forever , it toppled EQ and they topped UO its just that simple, it's coming so get used to it.
So one of the new games if not DF or Spellborn will take out WoW and of course Blizz will do like Sony and try to create the next WoW and fail terribly at it for 10 years cause everyone remembers what they did the last time.
WoW created the opportunity to beat them with lousy pvp Dev after the original lead Devs left.
Vanilla WoW wasn't bad at all now its a class balance nightmare.

Lol I'll be surprised if MO doesn't crash with 50 people on screen let alone 200. I doubt the U3 is made for a gigantic seamless world with everyone having 10 hitboxes, but, if it releases in 2010, then maybe by then it will run on low on midrange computers, who knows

I really hope they didn't motion capture in Darkfall. People in the game walk like they have a pole up their ass...... it's quite bad.
Will the game crash ? Will have to wait and see what REAL TIME play is like and the point of this topic is that we will never know until:
1) release
2) open beta
3) beta leaks
I'm by far a programmer, but from what I understand from reading topics on this site it's all in the coding from the devs ( I think )..... New company........ maybe new coding.
WoW, Lotro,D&D to name a few can run on most any computer. Games like Everquest 2, and Tabula Rasa are much harder on computers with not much reason for it. Vanguard without much reason can't run on most anything.
Still the point is we can't count on the devs to tell us, as with all game web sites you only get FLUFF. We need to learn from players.
The very fact that this game ISN'T being overhyped or pushed into my face, gives me a lot of hope to how well the game is. If it sucked, they'd hype is as much as possible to get as many box sales as they can.
They obviously don't care about that. They don't care about the WoW playerbase, they don't care about huge cinematic movies, they're just making their dream game, and when its ready we'll see it.

What I don't understand is how you people run with this, and that is why I would like to say REMEMBER ! as no one seems too................same old pre-launch crazy, thats if their is a launch at all. That's up to the devs and I"M ok with that.

UO and sandbox fans are hyped about it, but they don't expect it to be a savior MMO bcause if you do that then you'll be dissappointed by any little thing that is wrong with the game.

Not so much sandobx fans as PVP FULL LOOT fans. I'm a sandbox fan, but not to keen on pvp and full loot. That's very niche.
