Exploration now a days is set for solo play, for group play we must go to static already set dungeons at certain levels. Every ones afraid to group to explore because there is penalities such as lowered exp for grouping in non static instances. I miss the old days of EQ finding a dungeon while exploring with a group and conquring the dungeon

I just play FFXI, even though the game is a bit more solo frinedly now than it was before (You can actually solo now or kill mobs your own level without getting killed!) its still a 100% group based game, Comparing 200 exp every 3 min you can solo to 600 exp every 3 min you can get from a group its better to group in this game.
If you want a group based game play FFXI, The only hard part is actually getting people to help you do stuff you need to progress, but that they won't get anything in return out of it...I had to pay some one to help me do Promy's last week -_-; My freinds are always "To busy" With their end game LS's.
correction...
theres no more group.
Ok, there is some, and thats what I focus on.. but solo play online is kinda dumb if you ask me.... (not that I never complained about logging on, LFG for three hours.. then logging off, ah everquest- it hurt so good...)

EQ,SWG preCU,L2,EQ2,GW,CoH/CoV,V:SOH,
Aion,AoC,TR,WAR,EVE,BP,RIFT,WoW and others... no more!
It's true. I haven't seen a good grouping game in a long time. Last one was DAoC.
SWG was setup for being the most social and grouping game out there but it went the way of the solo when everyone worked out how to create 90% resist comp armour and buff to hell. It never got fixed and the game got turned into a solo mmorpg anyways.
EQ2 was an amazing grouping game for me in beta of 2004 but when it got released it was over shadowed by WoW and the game became really hard to find groups cause noone plays and theres too many servers. Now this game has gone the way of the solo too.
EQ2 back in the beta had to be the best mmorpg grouping experience I've ever had but just a shame the game sucks since launch.
PROTIP: Find new "friends" or at least people worthy of the term...
In the same vein as the above, there's lots of shells in early game stuff like Promies, you're not alone, I'd scour the internet for help on my server before paying anyone. -.-

Grouping is a dieing tradition it seems in MMO's
Eventually their won't be a point to even playing an mmo over a single player game, especially with monthly fees
If the trend continues..
If your looking for a group based game I'd suggest LotRO. A good percentage of the quests are group quests, and for most of the storyline quests you need a full group. Or maybe you should start raiding if your looking for a group activity in the MMO you play. Get a good guild and you'll have plenty to do.
