first off I feel a little guilty and selfish since my first post is a "new pc" topic. but I thought this would be the best place to ask and I have been a long time reader here.
I'm trying to keep my build around a $1,000 and have hit a wall. I'm pretty well informed when it comes to hardware and compatibility, however I cant really afford to buy a new power supply on top of what I currently have picked out but will if I have to. With that said below is what I have selected. keep in mind I also intend to hook up an additonial hard drive, a Raptor to be more precise.

I'm going to be stripping from my old PC the following items
8800GTS (1gb ram) version

Now to wrap this up. Wondering if my current power supply will be able to run the above mentioned items without blowing up my house. I greatly appreciate anyone willing to take the time and chime in on this. i would like some room for future upgrades as well. nothing major but i do intend to upgrade my video card several times over the next couple years.

Thats what I used when I built my system. Also, a really good forum for system building and hardware talk is Tomshardware.com. Good luck
Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic

Playing: Eve Online, Counter-strike
Loved: Star Wars Galaxies
Waiting for: Earthrise, Guild Wars 2, anything sandbox.
Wait until after CES 2009 next week before deciding what to build. There will be several things going on the market just afterwords which will drop prices on older components. You may also want to build differently in light of how technology changed this year as CES usually dictates what will be shown throughout the year.
i was un aware that CES was so close. I'll wait then till after and see how everything plays out
you should be fine.
