Everytime I talk in public about what SWG used to be and how they ruined it theres always someone near by who suddenly goes "oh SWG I used to love that game until it got ruined" and I lol. I'm in a bar or out in town centre and there always seems to be one about. Even on forums on the net too where they see a thread about SWG and they're like flies to shit and suddenly you find out that everyone on the forum was an ex SWG player lol.

Try mentioning SOE in any MMO (especially EVE) and you invariably can immediately find out who used to play SWG by the immediate cursing about SOE (and inevitably Smed) that ensues.
Lately though I've heard SOE berated for ruining EQ2... Guess the sudden RMT malls are having their predicted effect.
Dwindling player bases at swg and eq 2 points to more poor decisions made by someone at $OE , as for the rmt go over to there forums or look on the forums here to see just how hostile the majority feel about it.
But they do have a habbit of screwing just about everygame they have touched of recent times.
I think you will also find that SWG vets have MUCH higher expectations of what should be in a modern MMO as well, so we sort of hang around here looking for a game of substance. For those of us who spent a lot of time playing pre-NGE, all these modern games are just shallow, ultimately boring treadmills that lose their shine soon after launch.
What do all these modern failed MMO's have in common? They all focus on combat, and everything else is an half-assed afterthought. People get bored, and leave. WoW has saturated the market of people who only want combat. It's time we had some games that bring more depth for the rest of us.
A sure sign that you are in an old, dying paradigm/mindset, is when you are scared of new ideas and new technology. Don't feel bad. The world is moving on without you, and you are welcome to yell "Get Off My Lawn!" all you want while it happens. You cannot, however, stop an idea whose time has come.
When you are a customer of SOE, it's a matter of WHEN, not IF they will screw you over.
I couldn't have said it better myself.
Very well said.
CH, Jedi, Commando, Smuggler, BH, Scout, Doctor, Chef, BE...yeah, lots of SWG time invested.

This works in any mmorpg. Just mention SWG or SOE in general chat and watch the responses.
That's how I know the vets won. SWG might still be limping along but SOE has the worst reputation in the gaming industry.
The vets are just like the Irish. . .
We are everywhere, and we will tell you exactly what we think, usually pissed, and angry.

I was bored last week on my XBox 360 playing NHL 09, went into the community lobby and typed in "SWG sucks" and waited a few minutes, the result made me LMAO, at least 5 people acknowledged it.
I don't talk about video games IRL, but I wouldn't be surprised if I went to a random place and said it.
A while back when you could still actually buy SWG in stores I overheard a gamestop employee talk somebody out of buying it based on the NGE. It was a proud moment for this vet.
Grandpa Simpson: The last time the meteors came, we thought the sky was on fire. Naturally, we blamed the Irish. We hanged more 'n a few.
I'd say more like a cockroach -- annoying, bothersome and can never get rid of them.
Ever notice that soe have failed in every recentgame and even more so went back and made a few of their old ok/good mmos worst then before?
I mean soe's goal is to downgrade the status of its mmorpgs, like some masocistic gaming company or saomething.

Yeah...I can't wait to see The Agency crash and burn.
Back when it was still on the shelf, I'd pick up a NGE box and ask the opinion of it by a staff person at the local Gamestops... Without FAIL every time, I was told that it was once a very good game but that SOE ruined it, that SOE aren't to be trusted, etc.
Never heard a positive thing about it.
You see, that's why you don't take people who have been paying for and playing Game A for years and then change it to Game B which bears only superficial resemblance to Game A.
