I noticed it was heavily flawed in that department...

It is nice to be able to design a site/game like that. But you have to start from the ground up worrying about security with a web site based game. And I noticed right away that he had a lot of glaring flaws. You have to run every response to a form through a page that validates the input.

Nice to run a beta and having testers not helping...and you should know that everyinput was checked; it was not the way players cheated. Some players exploited bugs instead of reporting them; a lot of players created multiple accounts to help to help their main account; etc...

When beta testers are asked, it's normally to help find the bugs and polish the game; while some players did this; a lot were doing the reverse...No point to have a public beta!

Providing a free game to be treated like this ain't worth it...

But then you let the cheaters win!

Don't give up! Don't let them win!

(use a program to check IP addresses. It's not failproof, but it WILL cut down on numbers of multi accounts.)

I never cheated. I reported all of the bugs I found. I quit because the micro-managing was killing me. If you didn't login one day, then the economy on your planets went to shit. I woke up one moring and found that some of my planets were just all screwed up. So, I gave up.

How can you possibly say I didn't help? I probably had more posts in your forums and emails to you then anybody else...

Space Kingdoms sounds a lot like Masters Of Orion and Archmage combined. Archmage has the same problems with people obtaining multiple accounts and using them to build up one single account. They have also encounter the same problems with hackers, which I think almost ever online game has had to deal with at some point and time.

Only suggestion I can come up with is to develop a game client of some type to access the game. At least then, you can check for multiple accounts being used.  Althought it would not stop people using more then one computer to play the game. Also, having a game client will not in itself stop hackers, but may require a little more skill on their part to do it. Which might stop the script kitties from hacking you.

Unfortunatly, there will always be people more willing to cheat rather then work at it.

Also, you could try counter cheating. If you see one guy cheating, have ther planets attacked and random stuff happen to them and no one else. To bad, how good free games die...sigh.

I highly recommend Ferion, it gameplay and grafix are beyond all other online games that dont require anything but your wits and a browser, way better than Space Kingdoms!
