I played perfect world and it is well done but i got bored out of it because I dislike grind fest games and in reality I have realized that MMORPGs are not my style. They're just too slow paced. Go figure how i played EVE for two years (It was the robust market system).

But it's well done, they have flying elves (awesome kind of class), the graphics are decent, but it's the same mechanic as WoW and all the others ones. They're just trying to clone WoW (good luck doing better than Blizzard) and add a few new features and then call it the best thing ever. It's free, it's worth a try. I kind of also liked Archlord a bit, but it's really the same as perfect world with different graphics. For a free game though it is well done, i just have realized that i am not the MMORPG type because i ultimately hate grinding and boring slow paced combat but for MMO's, it's not as well done than WoW, but it is a complete game with very few bugs which is better than most other MMO's, so i'd give it a try.

Go kill X number of bad guys for some stupid reason. Come back. As you level you realize that it takes the same amount of time to kill a guy at level 1 than it does at level 23 or so. It's why i quit WoW and eventually quit Archlord even though Lineage 2 kept me for 6 months somehow.

Perfect World is the least "grindfest" MMORPG I've experienced: there are tons of quests at every level, provided you do them all at the right time.

When a quest asks you to kill 20 specific mobs, you don't have to kill any more than 20, just turn in the quest to the right NPC and you get experience, spirit, gold and goodies.

The most important thing in Perfect World is learning to use your coords assistant, that way you never get lost or never waste time trying to find your way around. Just enter a location you need like this: 123 456 (note the space between the 2 groups) or, you can add a coma but make sure there is a space after it, like this: 123, 456. After you try this, you will find the game a lot more enjoyable.

Also, in your quest log, click on "find quests" to get new quests and level up faster.

    Mostly, have fun!

I found this game 3 days ago only, but I am VERY impressed. I played Lineage II for about 4 years but too many of my friends left and the game although good on many levels I could just not justify paying $15/mo to play it anymore.

Tried Guild Wars (Factions) because I liked the idea of a subscription free game, more story driven, and allowing a relatively decent PvP system. Unfortunately the game didn't do much for me. Mainly it lacked a strong sense of community since hunting was instanced and you could "hire" NPC group members so I found it hard to actually meet people. So for an online RPG it did not offer me what I wanted.

I played a couple other free games and betas such as exteel, Last Chaos, Silkroad, etc. But finally this one seems like the best. Suprisingly for a free MMO it has quality paralleled to P2P games. The community is awesome, I don't think I have met such a mature community in the majority of MMOs that I played.

The only drawback that I forsee is that now I may become addicted to another MMO which is a problem in itself...haha.

There are other things to do in PW besides grinding too. Most you have to be at least lvl 40 before you can access though.

    However there are also:

FB's: start at lvl 19. They are a dungeon area with big boss. These bosses have the chance to drop the best wep/armors in the game. Plus REALLY good exp from doing them.

Daily Horse Race: Start at lvl 40. You must have a mount to participate. It is as it sounds, you get on your mount there is a limit of the first 100 players to register for the race. When time starts the participating players all race their mounts around a designated track. You win exp,sp, and if you are 1 of the first 10 to finish you will get a Monthly Horse Race ticket.

Monthly Horse Race: starts at lvl 40.  You have a qualifying ticket from the daily horse race to participate. Otherwise its alot like the daily race, just bigger better prizes and a much larger race course.

Rebirth Orders: Start at lvl 40. Must be in a group of 6 people. You will enter a instance where your group must stay alive for 15 min while waves of mobs come at you. Can be done once a day. If you suceed you get lots of exp and prizes.

The Hive(Puzzle Cube): Starts at lvl 40. Is an area with 50 rooms, each room has a mission/puzzle that must be completed in order to advance. Goal is to go from room 1 to room 50. There are special rooms along the way that give extra prizes and gold. If you succed you get ALOT of exp and sp. Special Bonus rooms and prizes for lvl 80+ who succeed. Can be done once a day.

Dragon Palace: Starts at lvl 60. Underwater Instance, fight off sea creatures to obtain treasure chests. You can get free Bikini's/swimwear for your character, plus rare items, and skills from the chests. Happens once a week and lasts for 4 hours.

City of Abomination: Starts at lvl 80. Happens once a week and lasts for 4 hours. Is alot like Dragon Palace except for its a different instance and different goals etc.

These are probably the main ones, there are things like TT, Frost Land, Lost Empire, Zhenning, Getting Married which also offer breaks from the typical grind.

Rumors of Housing and Casinos and more coming in future updates as well.

im sorry but i beg to differ on your opionion of this game attempting to clone wow. haveing played wow for 4 years (in and out) i can assure you it is nothing like wow. even the interface is different.

for those who dont know perfect world has been out for a while, it was just recently brought over to the west (i say that as players from different westen contries also play this game on these servers)

The game does offer quite alot of things to do at endgame. THERE IS NO RAIDING LIKE WOW. the territory wars actually have things like catapults n bases, you can bid to go to war with an opposing faction who has the territory as thiers. your faction (if they win it) gets benifits for having territory. this even makes the pve servers competitive,.

I wish i could say the same for the pvp server. this server has one guild that monopolized most of the territories. also since pvp does happen everywhere (saave safe spots) its hard for small guilds to grow and compete for territory. especially with 1 big one hogging most of em and having huge amounts of funds. This kinda pushed me away from the pvp server.

now the most astonishing feature is actually your characters progression, each class can be progressed in many ways. mostly to your liking. you can actually roll a cleric and have him/her become a damage dealer that rivals wizards as an example. Your class is not limited by gear. you can spend your talent points into str, vit, dex and mag.  by choosing so you can have your wizard wear heavy armor or if you feel like it have him wield axes by spending points into str and dex (not reccomended to use axes on a wizard since you can only cast spells with the weps that allow spellcasting. once again as an example)

one thing this game does have going for it , it has its official website. unlike a few big named p2p games that lack it. the foums of the website is very imformative. however due to most players being new to perfect world. many belive a class should be specced one way or your gimped.

smart people will go check out the pw.m forums and read guides a few years old .

one class, the venomancer, in pw forms its considered a caster class with pets, however as you progress you can turn into a fox and you do aquire fox abilites. I did learn form the pw. m forums that heavy armor veno foxes compete in dmg with their caster counterparts and have the huge advantage of being able to soak up alot of dmg(they are not tanks tho.)

im following a guide that allows me to benifit from the latest heavy armor as well as robe gear., this gives my char the benifit to cover its weakness. my survivability jumped out the roof.

in short you can just boost your char to your likings.
